Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

I have about 20 Kokeshi Dolls and 1 daruma doll (Wooden Japanese dolls) from Japan. They’re beautiful and unique and I’m noticing they’re making an appearance in more contemporary things. I love them, and they remind me of my love-Japan.

My husband and I are both ecologists, and we have so many prints on our walls showing our obsessions – his birds, mine plants. My current favorite artist is Charley Harper, who often created images based on nature (especially birds) that are geometric and colorful. They also make for fun and hilarious conversation pieces when our non-nerdy family and friends visit. :)

“FAB ME” I have a funky bird cage (with no bird) that is on a 70s-looking stand. I repaint it, swap out candles, flowers, random knick knacks in the cage and move it around the house every few months. It is current BRIGHT yellow but is going to be repainted grey when the weather warms up. My husband just looks at it and shakes his head :-)

I think my quirkiest piece in my house is my life-size bust of JFK. He frequently gets spray painted different colors, and has recently transitioned from bubble gum pink to a sunny yellow. Nothing gives a room personality like a little JFK.

We have a giant nut (like the fastener – because my husband works at an industrial supply company) and a deactivated grenade (also my husband’s) on our bookshelves. Also some rusted nails from a shipwreck that my husband dove and may or may not have taken illegally. None of these are crazy, but they all have fun stories attached to them.

One of the quirky features in our home is a collection of artwork that we’ve hung on the wall when you enter the house. All of the pictures feature dogs, with my favorite one being the black pug eating vanilla ice cream. We even have a little shelf with the words “live laugh bark” and two figurines of our own dogs(a pomeranian and a french mastiff) dressed as bride and groom that we had created for our wedding to be cake toppers on the groom’s cake.

    What can I say – I love dogs :)

My favorite oddity isn’t terribly colorful since my favorite colors are black and gray (no, really). It’s a white cotton-paper silhouette of my beagle on a gray bookcloth ground, framed by this huge, ornate oval frame. Every time I see “Spike” in frou frou script at the bottom, it makes me smile.

FAB ME! I love my elephant art. It is painted by an elephant and sold to aid in the conservation of elephants and their habitat. It even comes with a bio on the elephant that painted it (each elephant has their own style). I feel about elephants like Sherry does about ceramic animals, so I just love that is real art and painted by elephant.
