Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

FAB ME! I have an awesome art piece I ordered from CB2. It is a large piece made from recycled newspapers (sounds weird – but I love it!)

I love my recovered entryway bench. It belonged to my mother-in-law but the cushion was all torn. I bought a $5 piece of fabric, grabbed my stapler one night after work and voila – a brand new spiffy (if I do say so myself) bench (that no longer looks like my mother in laws bench either).

My favorite room in our still-very-unfinished apartment is our nursery, which has a big huge wall of pretty aqua chevron fabric wallpaper. It cheers me up just to be in there.

I created a colorful photo display on the wall in my living room. I used wooden plaques from the craft store and painted them different colors. Then I used scrapbook glue dots to attach pictures to them. This way I can change the pictures periodically and not ruin the plaque!

I have this multi-color-striped print of Marilyn Monroe it’s her signature print with the fur wrap, printed over top the striped fabric). The fabric is then stretched over wood and was purchased at a street festival here in DC by my best friend, who gave it to my as a birthday present! I love it!

Unfortunately, my house lacks quirk. My husband likes boring, traditional design. I’ve slipped a ceramic pig on a shelf but that may be it! Well, I do have a raspberry pink powder room that people love to comment on.

FAB ME! My house has red in every room–red is the unifying color. One room may be red and blue, one red and brown, one red and yellow, one red and blue and hunter green. All red towels and sheets in the house = no cross contamination of towel colors. I had a designer suggest the idea to me in my 20s and I love red with anything, so that’s my color!

Probably the quirkiest thing in my home is also the most endearing. Funny how those go together!

My mum recently made me a large quilt with geometric owls all over it! It hangs in my living room much to the amusement of all my guests who politely ask me if I CHOSE that quilt. I didn’t but it’s BETTER than I could have chosen!

Sherry: I’m also into ceramic owls. They never get old!

I have a little ceramic heart shaped rattler. It was made by an artisan that wrapped beads of clay with wax paper and built the heart around them. When put in the kiln the wax paper stays long enough that the beads dont stick but eventually melts away to create a rattle. It’s amazing.

I suppose my current flooring is weird – OSB. We moved into our new house before it was finished, so we have a lot of DIY projects pending. I do have some things in the barn waiting to be made weird, quirky or colorful, such as a 1950s slatted hanging lamp, a desk, and an extremely large pull-down world map from an old schoolhouse. In our last home, our nature collection probably qualified (shedded snake skins, small animal skulls, and hornet’s nest for example).
