I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab me! The quirckiest thing we have in our house is a painting of two hands holding the world with Noah’s picture in the center of it. It’s bright, bold, and quirky. While not my favorite it was given to me by my MIL for Christmas in honor of our little girl we are in the process of adopting. It’s gonna have to stay out for a while. I do plan to incorporate a little family montage around it though.

FAB ME! We have a vintage velourish striped red/orange round chair that my in-laws gave each other for their wedding. Though faded, it’s comfy and my young son loves that it’s now in his room since it’s low to the ground.

My favorite piece that not everyone is a fan of is a deeply discounted homegoods find – it’s a very large (a little larger than poster size) art piece made of wood planks all tacked together and painted in brown, cream, and orange to look like an old school departure sign at an airport (think the kind where each individual letter had to flip over and change – like the Kayak commericals)
We stalked it – we saw it one weekend together and it was clearanced, but not enough for a piece we didn’t truly need. Went back the next weekend and they were basically giving it away (slightly damaged) We snagged it up, fixed her up and hung her up. Reaction from my mom on her next visit? “That’s different.” AKA – why did you buy that. But, we love it. It’s very much our groove.

I have a chartreuse leaf-print reupholstered wingback chair in my office that I got for free from my grandmother’s neighbor. She lived in the condo next to my grandmother and was moving into a smaller place with no need for a whole townhome’s worth of furniture. Along with my quirky-but-fabulous chair, I got two solid wood end tables and a solid wood coffee table. Most of my home is furnished with hand-me-downs and family heirloom furniture, which I think lends itself well to a casual mix and match vibe. My chartreuse chair may not match anything else in the whole house, but that’s why I love it!
