Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

    Fab me!

A friend who was living in Korea when we got married last summer sent us wooden ducks as a wedding gift. Apparently you’re supposed to display them on your mantle facing each other, and then turn them back to back when you’re fighting. Everyone asks about them and sometimes we turn them back to back just to see if our friends are paying attention when they visit. :)

    FAB ME!

I have a set of two photographs that I bought at an art/antique fair in Buenos Aires from this really cool artist. One of the pictures depicts a man looking at something far away while standing in a field. The other has that same man laying in a field. People often wonder just what’s going on there.

I love our animal-themed kitchen goods. An egg beater that’s an egg with a funny face, standing on its feet. A pig-shaped ice cream scoop. Our set of squirrel-whisks. Cat-shaped bottle of wine (that we’ve reused as an olive oil dispenser).

FAB ME! My husband has this creepy stuffed piranha that he loves to hide in places around the house until someone notices and asks “is that a piranha?!” then he moves it to another spot until someone finds it. It’s longest running spot was over a year living on a beam in our loft. Its strange, and creepy, and hilarious when someone finds it!

My most colorful and loved possession is an apple-green Kitchenaid stand mixer. It was a wedding present from my in-laws. Just seeing it on my kitchen counter makes me happy, and the treats it helps me make, bring happiness to others. It is a candy-colored happiness FACTORY!

    FAB ME!

We were gifted a very cool wooden frame for our wedding, and my husband immediately put in it a birthday card with a picture of Bill and Hillary Clinton straight out of the 70s on the front. It was meant to be funny, but it has stayed up for over 3 years now and been the start of more wonderful conversations with friends and guests than anything else in our home!

    FAB ME!!!

In my huband’s family, it is tradition to give a chicken (decorative, not real) as a wedding present. The idea is that once you’ve opened that, all of the presents have to at least be better than the wedding chicken. I LOVE ours, however and have it prominently displayed. Next step is to paint it an outrageously bright color. Maybe citrine? Maybe orange?

Probably the quirkiest item in my house currently is my dog’s bed. It totally screams 1973 but he loves it and it’s actually big enough for him! (He’s 100 pounds.) Eventually I’ll get around to making a slightly less quirky/cheesy covering, but for now it works!

oooooohmigosh, I need to win this one! I’m a huge Fab addict! Aaand, one of my newest favorite things I actually got off of the site – a hanging chalkboard map that I’ve colored in (states I’ve lived in are green, visited are yellow) and hung in my entryway. Love it!

My husband has a monkey lamp from his bachelor days (10+ years ago) that lives in our living room. I’m not in love with it, but he is. Maybe my 2 year old will “accidentally” knock it over someday and we’ll find something equally unique to replace it with.
