Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

FAB ME!!!! I couldn’t decide on what accent colors to go with in my living room. I went with both golds/browns and silvers/whites. I’ve got an assortment of things going on including the ceramic owl, NB ram horns, apothecary jars, vases. Love it!!!

We have a European deer mount (it’s either one my husband shot or one his uncle did, can’t remember which skull it is) hanging above our TV that I spray-painted ORB. I’m thinking I might spray paint the antlers a different color, something bold like turquoise or coral.

FAB ME! I have a brown glazed ceramic squirrel from when I was a kid. My mom used to keep it on a shelf in our dining room and I loved to dust it. (Crazy. I know. Because it’s obvious I hate dusting now.) The squirrel is a bit demonic-looking I think, but I can’t make myself part with it. It must be the gravitational pull of ceramic animals or something…

    FAB ME!

I wouldn’t say it’s exactly colorful, but back in 1995, while at a thrift store, I noticed a pile of items outside on the porch. The shop owner said they were free for the taking and would be discarded if not claimed. In that pile was a huge gold painted, chipped plastic wall sconce/candelabra thingie. My friends who were with me all agreed it was the ugliest thing they had ever seen and they couldn’t believe I was taking it, but when it was up in my living room, they all loved it! It has been a part of my decor in every home I’ve lived in since then, and gets a compliment from almost everyone who sees it. Once, in a fit of over-helpfulness, my ex decided to surprise me and spray painted it a shiny new gold. After it was done, he said,
“I ruined it, didn’t I?” Yep, lol! But not for long. A sponge and some black and brown acrylic paint took care of that and it was back to shabby and fabulous! It’s still one of my favorite things.

FAB Me!! My favorite was hanging in the kitchen. I called it my oven art. I had a bunch of plastic (?) utensils and measuring cups that I would store in the oven on a deep baking sheet. I forgot to take the pan out of the oven one day before reheating. Yep, it all melted together. It was so cool! I liked it so much that I hung it up.

I have an Elvis bust that my dad got me as a joke one birthday in high school, after visiting a store that had hundreds and expressing my 15-year-old disgust at the thought of ever owning one in my own home. Except now I can’t bear to part with it because of the hilarious sentiment!
