Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    FAB ME! In our guest room there’s a Super Friends mural that was painted in the 70’s and has somehow lasted until now. It’s everything I can do to keep my wife from painting over it. So far so good!

    FAB ME! My favorite quirky little touch in our house is an over-sized pink lamp! Yes, I said pink! My fiance & I found it at an estate sale. It was dingy, but I just knew it had potential. And, a working lamp for $3…heller…definitely couldn’t pass that up! We cleaned the milk glass and the entire lamp with an old toothbrush and got it sparkling like new. Then, after some convincing we spray-painted it a cheery pink! And, I think he likes it too :)

    FAB ME! Quirkiest thing *in* my house is probably my house itself… a old log home in which not a single window or door is perfectly square and a few of the logs kind of go this way and that!

    I have two ceramic pig planters, one in bright yellow and one in a deep navy blue. I plan on getting all the colors so I can have a little army!

    Fab me! We have a boldly colored monster print from Invisible Creature that I got for my husband a few years ago. It is fun, quirky, and always catches peoples’ attention.

    I recently purchased a big ol’ moose head (faux, white taxidermy is all the rage, no?) and plopped it right in the center of our wall btwn 2 end chairs. Love the look. I call it, lodge chic..and we call affectionately named the moose, Marty. Marty DOES like to party…so, for every holiday, he holds some sort of fabulous holiday decor in his mouth, big ears, you get the drift :) Weird, a little freaky, but fun for sure!

    My baby girl’s nursery is turquoise, bright pink, and purple. It’s colorful and beautiful. Maybe I’ll bring some color into the rest of the house soon.

    fab me! I just made new pillow cases for my throw pillows — grey with neon green and neon orange edging. it’s a healthy dose of neon for the home.

    I have an ever-growing collection of shells, driftwood, sea glasss, rocks and “sea junk” that I’ve collected over the years from beaches all over the world. I’m always trying out new ways to display it.

    I have this old round-backed chair from my grandparents’ house that used to be covered in shiny black vinyl (and duct tape, where the vinyl split). I have temporarily recovered it in shower curtain material, but I hope to get it professionally recovered one day! It’s a really cool chair.

    Fab me! My quirkiest item is the bright aqua blue walls in my bathroom. I actually took my son’s toothbrush to Lowe’s and had them match the color! (Can you say “spontaneous?”) We’ve had a surprising amount of fun working with that odd color!

    FAB ME! I am not afraid of color and have painted all 3 of my daughters’ rooms in VERY bold colors. It is their choice, and I don’t want to stop their creativity. Anything goes!!

    I recently stumbled upon a thrift store closing sale where everything was on sale for $1. I purchased a funky (and awesome) glass globe ceiling light that has yellow diamond design painted on it. I love it! It is currently brightening up our tiny hallway.
