Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

FAB ME!!! My current favorite quirky item is a bar stool I just made over this week. I’ve been looking for a comfy stool with a back to use as seating for a high desk I’m DIY-ing out of two Ikea PS locker cabinets and a bi-fold door I just ripped off my daughter’s closet (the desk itself will probably qualify as favorite quirky item once it’s complete). So when I saw a broken down barstool sitting by the trash in front of – where else? – a bar, I had to have it! I tightened some screws, recovered the seat in with fabric leftover from my curtains, and painted the stool a happy turquoise. Love love love it!

FAB ME! Well no ceramic animals so far (although looks like Fab have some available…) but we do have 2 big old brass lion door knockers that I bought from an old man in Seoul in the old part of town. They’re currently either end of our red brick fireplace which I’m trying to persuade my husband to paint white a la yhl!

We love color in our house. Our front room/library is a fantastic orange color. When we were picking it, my husband watched Being John Malkovich and mid-movie he pauses it and summons me to the living room. “This is the color!” He said, pointing to John Malkovich’s hallway filled with books. And so it was! And it looks great 5 years later. :) I also love Mecican folk art/ Day if the Dead art, so we have lots of colorful figures and art of skeletons wearing colorful hats! Thanks for the opportunity, y’all.

FAB ME! The most colorful item in our home is some home-made art my husband and I made for our little girl’s bedroom. We painted 4 pieces of canvas bright colors, then splashed more colors on each canvas. She loves them and so do we!

FAB ME! I have been a warm neutral kind of girl – trying desperately to add punches of color to my life. Able to do it for others but paralyzed when it comes to my own space. The color in our house resides in my daughter’s rooms. Black bedspread with multi-colored polka dots in one room and a beautiful Orchid and green color palette in the other – with a bright green ceramic Owl to hoot.

    FAB ME!

My great grandmother’s girdle. Yup, a girdle! I have it framed and hanging in my craft room. It has also lived in my guest bathroom (quite the conversation piece!) and my laundry room (gotta have something to smile about in there!)

I just know that Granny would have thrown a fit about me hanging her “unmentionables” on the wall… but I also think that secretly she’d love it! (she was a bit quirky too!)
