Two tattoos, both took a long time to pick out. The first is the word SELAH on my left hip/back (So that if I didn’t like it I never had to look at it.)It’s a Hebrew word that was used as a musical notation. It roughly translates to “Be still now and listen”, and was said before verses that held important information, kind of to catch the listeners attention. I chose it because I feel that phrase is a life lesson for me. I’m always zipping around at 100 mph and I just need to learn to be still and pay more attention to the beauty around me. The second is a voodoo heart (A favorite illustration taken from Tim Burton’s poem voodoo girl) on my right foot. My younger sister and I got this heart (hers is on the left foot) as a symbol of one another. She is my best friend and sometimes it feels like we share a brain. I joined the military years ago so we are always far from each other but she always stays with me in my heart. Cheesy, I know, but it does it’s job and I always smile when I see it. Other than that I don’t plan on any more, I like being able to keep the ones I have hidden, It seems more personal to me.

I don’t have a tattoo – despite the fact that my husband tries to talk me into one once every couple of months. Secretly, though, I would love to get a side tattoo or one on my wrist. If I were to get one, it would be a pink flamingo with toilet paper hanging off its foot. When I was in high school, my friends and I would toilet paper other friends’ houses and leave a pink lawn flamingo as our calling card.
