I have a tattoo of my maiden name of my father’s signature on my wrist. My father is a political cartoonist and the signature is our last name as he signed it on his cartoons. I am an only child (female) who wouldn’t be able carry on our family name otherwise– since I decided to take the traditional route with my husband’s last name! This way I can carry my family name with me always! :)

I don’t have a tattoo, but I’ve been toying with the idea of one for awhile. My problem is that I have more phrases than pictures that speak to me. I’d love to get “I wish to learn what life has to teach, and not, when I come to die, discover that I have not lived.” That is a LOT of text for a tattoo!

TATTOO ME! I actually just got a new piece done last weekend. It’s a huge bouquet of peonies, poppies, and buttercups on my shoulder, and I adore it! They are all flowers that remind me of my childhood, as my parents are preparing to sell my childhood home. I have 4 other tattoo’s including: an anchor on the side of my lower back for my pug Captain that passed away, the phrase “ancora imparo” (I have yet to learn) in white ink on my wrist – to remind myself to enjoy the present, the phrase “hope springs eternal” on my hip – when I wasn’t sure that I would ever be able to really love anyone again… which was ironic because I met the love of my life a day later. Some day there might be more, but for now I’m content. On the other hand, I could also use the money I’d have spent on that little vacuum, for a little tattoo :]

I kind of want a tattoo, but have never wanted a certain design enough to actually get one. Or spend the money. . . eek. They’re pricey!
But…One day in Boston I saw a girl in a backless top walking across the street…her tattoo was a cherry blossom branch arching up her back and over one shoulder – and it was incredible. It was the one tattoo that ever made me say “wow” in a good way. :)
