Fab Freebie: Ready, Eames, Fire

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This giveaway hit our 10,000 entry cap just a few hours before usual closing time, so random.org had its work cut out for it picking a winner. They selected… Kelsey (who thinks “an Eames chair is the foundation to a good collection”). Congrats on your new foundation piece!

Who wants to win an Eames chair this week? Better yet – who wants to win several Eames chairs this week? Well, one of you is going to, because the folks at the Herman Miller Store are gonna hook you up with $2,000 worth of product! That’s enough to choose practically anything from their catalog of iconic furniture pieces from award-winning designers. And even if you don’t score the grand prize, they’re offering up a discount to everyone that could save you some serious dough on that statement piece that you’ve been pining for. Check out all the details below.

HermanMillerGiveaway

  • PRIZE: $2,000 worth of product from the Herman Miller Store
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MILLER ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s one classic designer / artist / architect / fashion icon / etc that you’ve always admired and why? Have you always been a sucker for anything Frank Lloyd Wright? Would you give anything to hang an original Andy Warhol piece on your walls? Or are you still trying to catch your breath over the thought of having an Eames chair in your home?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Aug 8th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off all purchases at the Herman Miller Store with code YHL15 (valid through Nov 1, 2012 – cannot be combined with other offers).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Herman Miller.

“MILLER ME!” My uncle was a great artist, drawing beautiful portraits that really captured the spirit of the person who was sitting for him. I’m trying to convince my parents and a few other family members to part with one of his pieces so I can also enjoy his artwork on the walls of my new home.

I don’t have a specific designer, per say, but I like contemporary style with a dash of mid century modern thrown in, so an Eames chair would be so awesome…

Miller Me! We’ve been huge fans of Charles and Ray Eames for a long time, and would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win one of their design pieces. Hyperventilating at the very thought :)

(If we win, we’d have it sent to our daughter who lives in Indiana; she’d hang on to it for us until we could pick it up.)

I am a grad student studying US history with an emphasis on pop culture. I had the awesome experience of writing a reseach paper on mid century homes in my native Los Angeles and fell in love with Pierre Koenig. He is responsible for Case Study house 22- which is a breaktaking glass home overlooking LA from the Hollywood Hills. swoon.

There are a lot of actual material things that I would love to have in my home, but what I would love more than any of those would be the ability to sit down to dinner with George Nelson. His book, “How To See” forever changed me as a designer and I think about that book almost every day. I would love to have Mr. Nelson to dinner to talk about design, the man made world v. nature, and his thoughts on where we are today.

I’ve always admired the work produced by the eames office. but as is the case with many of the modern masters, the mass market that much of their work was designed for can no longer justify the cost of their designs turned icons. but with this give-away, one of us will be a proud owner…
