I don’t know if this counts as a ‘classic’ fashion icon, but one of mine is David Bowie. Always eclectic and doing something unexpected — I try to incorporate that into my home style as well.
As for an Eames chair, as a recent college grad, it’ll be a while before that’s in my budget, so I’d love to win this!!! :)

Miller Me! I’ve always had a soft spot for Eames and here’s why: my parents were driving past a thrift store once and saw some (beat up) chairs with cool lines. “That’s an Eames” my mom said so they pulled over. Turns out they got the chairs for $10 apiece (6 of them), got them reupholstered, and now they sit in my dad’s dining room. It’s the only cool furniture we had growing up and I thought that it was so cool that they lucked into that find!

Ironically, I love Charles and Ray Eames. I am a design nerd that has had an obsession with designer furniture. I could probably attach a name to any famous piece of furniture you throw at me. However, I have not had the pleasure of owning an “authentic” eames chair. The closest I have come is the mini version of the Eiffel Rocker that sits on my desk at work in the design studio. Please make my dreams come true! :)

I love everything Eames. Honestly. It’s a lifestyle more than a style, and I love it ALL– from Ray’s hair bows to their case study house, from the office walls to the Zenith fiberglass seats’ rope edge. I could watch “Powers of Ten” 10^n times and will always be thrilled about the prospect of including more of their aesthetic in my life.
(In an effort to include something non-Eames, I’ll mention my real appreciation of Saarinen. He persisted with his vision even when it seemed to exceed technological possibility. Also I love the old shot of him and Charles Eames lighting a couple cigarettes, and the six-man 1961 Playboy portrait which includes these two is, needless to say, priceless.)
