Fab Freebie: Ready, Eames, Fire

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This giveaway hit our 10,000 entry cap just a few hours before usual closing time, so random.org had its work cut out for it picking a winner. They selected… Kelsey (who thinks “an Eames chair is the foundation to a good collection”). Congrats on your new foundation piece!

Who wants to win an Eames chair this week? Better yet – who wants to win several Eames chairs this week? Well, one of you is going to, because the folks at the Herman Miller Store are gonna hook you up with $2,000 worth of product! That’s enough to choose practically anything from their catalog of iconic furniture pieces from award-winning designers. And even if you don’t score the grand prize, they’re offering up a discount to everyone that could save you some serious dough on that statement piece that you’ve been pining for. Check out all the details below.

HermanMillerGiveaway

  • PRIZE: $2,000 worth of product from the Herman Miller Store
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MILLER ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s one classic designer / artist / architect / fashion icon / etc that you’ve always admired and why? Have you always been a sucker for anything Frank Lloyd Wright? Would you give anything to hang an original Andy Warhol piece on your walls? Or are you still trying to catch your breath over the thought of having an Eames chair in your home?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Aug 8th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off all purchases at the Herman Miller Store with code YHL15 (valid through Nov 1, 2012 – cannot be combined with other offers).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Herman Miller.

MILLER ME!!! I’ve been pining for an Eames chair for several years (ever since we bought out home a few years ago). Didn’t think it’d be possible until my kid was out of college (she isn’t even born yet!). The Alex Katz prints I saw recently at the MFA Boston added fuel to my daydreams of hosting sleek, sexy martini parties.

We just finished grad school and got our first “real” jobs, so I don’t think I even know what designer would make me swoon. No. I take that back–my husband and I both drool over Jonathan Adler every time we walk through his store!

I lust for a genuine Herman Miller office chair for myself or my husband. We got to sit in them a decade ago at the Chaminade Conference Center in Santa Cruz, and it was the most comfortable 8 hours we’ve ever experienced in a chair. Sign me up!

I’m a huge fan of mid-century modern right now. Mies Van der Rohe and Saarinen (father and son) are my faves right now. Designing the building down to the furniture–awesome. Also love Girard’s fabrics :)

I’ve always loved the noguchi table and we actually bought it a year ago! It currently has pipe insulation around it to protect our 16 month old but one day it will stand on it’s own again. Maybe until then, an Eames rocker would be better!

Miller me! Thoughtfully designed furniture has always made me swoon. I knew design school was my calling when at the age of 5 I had an opinion on the way things were designed. I adore Hans Wegner’s Shell Chair and Wing chair and quite frankly when I have a child I hope I will love it as much as the Eames Molded Rocker that I will have in the nursery. I’m pretty sure I’ll be as excited about the kid as the rocker – but it may be close.
