Fab Freebie: A Cultivated Kitchen

Sorry for the hit-and-miss quiz taking y’all. Apparently you guys enjoy a good quiz as much as we do! Anyways, the lucky (random) winner this week is… Kate Bateman (who was able to get a quiz result and said her “Traditional” diagnosis was almost spot on). Congrats!

I bet most of you guys spent a fair amount of time in the kitchen over the last few days, and if it had you yearning to make some changes in there, you’ve stumbled onto the right giveaway. The folks behind some of our favorite stores (West Elm, Williams-Sonoma, and Pottery Barn) have a sister site chock full of kitchen inspiration called Cultivate. In addition to photo galleries, expert advice, and a blog, they’ve also got one of our favorite ways to kill a few minutes: a Find Your Style quiz. Just pick your favorite between 10 pairs of photos and get ready for your diagnosis. And to help you put your kitchen prescription into action, they’re giving one of you a $200 gift card to use at Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, or West Elm. Sweet. Update: We hear the quiz is still running very slowly/crashing. Looks like Cultivate wasn’t quite ready for all of you quiz-loving folks. So sorry about that, guys!

    Cultivate me! I gravitate towards the images on the right and the quiz labeled me as Contemporary. I would describe my style as anything but contemporary (more antique, victorian, lots of wood) so this was surprising. I would love to win!

    I couldn’t take the quiz either (but plan to later, when the YHL traffic has died down). I’m anticipating a “traditional” result, but can’t wait to see what the mighty internet thinks.

    Cultivate me!! No, I did not take the quiz. I think “we” might have crashed their site? I couldn’t get it to load after a few tries. But looking at the photos above, I love the kitchen with the navy blue island and beautiful clear glass pendants.

    CULTIVATE ME! It isn’t working still… boo. But, this week I had my dad in town (from out of the country!) for the holiday. While he was here we went into DIY mode (gotta love the help from dad- particularly when he’s an engineer who LOVES to fix/make things!!). We: replaced the kitchen faucet (was original to our 1950’s house) with a fingerprintless (is that a word??) gorgeous long neck/high arch one, changed the posts (5) on our back deck to be sure that they were nice and strong and not compromising the integrity of our patio/deck roof, hooked up the ice maker to the fridge (involved drilling into our water pipes, which we were too scared to do on our own), hung new house #s that he brought from Spain, fixed an outdoor light fixture to shine brightly on said house #s, insulated our exhaust fan in the bathroom, and are going to install a dual flush adapter on a toilet tonight (thanks to your suggestion)! Plus, my dad has given me the confidence that I need to undertake a backsplash install this summer– yeah! So, basically, I’d totally put that $200 to good use!
