Fab Freebie: The Good Ol’ Days
***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
Lots of fun responses this week guys, so thanks for that entertainment! Our lucky, random winner is… Cissyrene (a child of the 80′s who believes things have been best in her lifetime fashion and style-wise). Congrats!
Our friend (and House Crashing alum) Diana recently opened up a new online shop to celebrate her favorite era of vintage furniture and accessories. She aptly named it Era Vintage and cruising through it is like a walk back in time (or a channel-surf through an episode of Mad Men). It has everything from vintage modern furniture and lighting to retro-cool dishware and knick-knacks. And one lucky lady or laddie will be getting a $200 gift card to snatch up some goodies for themselves. Plus, if you’re in the Richmond area you can catch even more flashback furnishings at a seasonal Era Vintage pop-up shop during the months of November and December at Modern Artifacts in Carytown.
- PRIZE: $200 gift card to Era Vintage
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “ERA ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … one aspect of a previous era that you’d love to see more of these days. Would you enjoy the resurgence of certain fashions from an earlier decade? Or would you appreciate a simpler existence (before wi-fi and iPhones)? Maybe you’d just like to buy a milkshake and a newspaper for five cents?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 31st at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Era Vintage.

ERA ME! I like the idea of a time of less “stuff” and more time at home, family dinners, someone there during the day to cook those dinners, etc.
ERA ME!
Definately like to go back to a less ‘tech’ world but Im sure EVERY era has something that I would love to bring back :) Cars, fashion, decor, etc
Era me! I wish there were still malt shops!
ERA me! I love vintage!
Era ME!
I love a lot of mid-century things, but I really wish people had never given up on wearing gloves when they got dressed up! Every dress looks better with gloves!
ERA ME! I’ve recently gotten into sewing clothes for myself, and I wish it were cool to wear a dress every day like in previous eras. Dresses are easier to sew than pants!
ERA ME!
I love Diane, just read her article on R-Home!
I’d love to live in a time where I can be disconnected from the world if I choose to be, maybe even the late 1800s in a place with lots of lumberjacks who could build me a log cabin. Cause I do love myself a big burly bearded man! That and the great outdoors!
ERA ME!
I love the glamour of how women dressed in the 30′ and 40′s.
ERA ME!
I wish they still made movies like they did in the 30s and 40s.
ERA ME! I’d love to return to the days of the beautiful ’50s classic cars! I wish our fuel efficient options today were as beautiful as those cars then.
Era ME! I love the idea of dressing for the day, ie Mad Men. Men wore suits and ladies wore dresses. Much better than sweats and booty shorts!
“ERA ME!”
Big hair… I have the perfect texture and volume for it but alas I wasn’t blessed to live in an era where I get to show it off.
ERA ME!
I like the 60s, the hippie look, but probably not the drugs.
Era me!
I would love to see more rotary phones. I know they makes any phone number with a 9 in it a nuisance, but my grandparents still have one in their kitchen and I love it!
ERA ME!
Care for one another.
Era Me!
I realize that it is not the most “green”, but I love muscle cars from the late 60s and 70s!
ERA ME!
I wish people made more conversation out in public with strangers instead of being stuck to their phones!
And that we were better about knowing our neighbors. :)
Era me! I’d like to go back to the time when TV was full of the likes of Lucille Ball and Dick Van Dyke. No modern comedian (or comedienne!) can compete with Lucille Ball’s facial expressions and perfect timing. Although Amy Poehler comes very, very close. :)
era me! the fashion! people just dont dress up like they used to.
ERA ME!
I think some of the older solid wood furniture was just made better back then…
Era Me!
I’d like to go back to the 80′s for some neon Lisa Frank posters!
ERA ME!
While I love the 50s, I think I’d keep the food of today!
ERA ME! I love mad men and want to live in those times (minus all the cigarettes)
ERA ME!
I’d like a slower pace, and less digital amusements for my kids (and me, too). On the other hand, I don’t want to go back to a world before all our social advances of the last 30 years or so!
ERA ME! I love the era I am in! But I do get inspiration and ideas from previous eras…bring on the 70′s highwaisted bell bottoms!
ERA ME! 40′s and 50′s… True Eames!
ERA ME! Better manners. No doubt about it.
“ERA ME!”
I want to go back to the good old days when gas was more affordable! I hate paying $3+ at the pump!
ERA ME! I love WPA art posters. But I’d rather live now (after the invention of the polio vaccine, the advancement of women’s rights, and the acceptance of casual work clothes. Hello? Who would want to wear hose and heels all day?)
Era me! I miss the simple fashions of the past. Everything is smaller and shorter and tighter these days.
ERA ME!
I wish 40′s fashion came back.
ERA ME! Mid century modern, art nouveau, and arts and crafts are my faves.
ERA ME!
glass milk/soda bottles, less packaging.
ERA ME! I’d love to go back to the days when we can leave the door unlocked at night.
ERA ME!! I’d like to go back to the 50′s when women dressed classic and less was more. Children were well behaved and men wore suits. But the partying and music of the 60′s and 70′s is always a fun time too!!
Era me! :)
Era me!
I love the thought of a simpler day when we aren’t all trying to do 15 things at once!
ERA ME!
ERA ME!
Back to the 50s and 60s when things were made in America, made well and lasted forever!
ERA ME! My mom used to dress us in cute little rompers but they have already made a comeback!
ERA ME! The music. Any era but this one, blah.
“ERA ME!” It would be great to bring back musicians that are famous for their talent, even if they do not have the “look”.
ERA ME! I would like to go back to whatever era women didn’t dress like hoochies and ALL looked like ladies (especially for halloween).
ERA ME! I’d love to see more victorian-era architecture; specifically more of the amazing crown moldings and breathtakingly detailed work on ceilings and walls.
ERA ME! I would love to be able to fill up my gas tank for $5 like in the old days!
Era me! I like this time. It’s the best since I’ve been born, fashion and style wise (mid 80s).
Era me!
ERA me! I love 19th century fiction and 1920s fashion… but I also love modern medicine and flush toilets. :)
ERA ME! Love midcentury modern anything.
ERA ME! I wish everyone wore more hats everyday!
(Also, I wish that more of our food wasn’t genetically modified, but that’s a discussion for another day ;)
