Fab Freebie: The Good Ol’ Days
***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
Lots of fun responses this week guys, so thanks for that entertainment! Our lucky, random winner is… Cissyrene (a child of the 80′s who believes things have been best in her lifetime fashion and style-wise). Congrats!
Our friend (and House Crashing alum) Diana recently opened up a new online shop to celebrate her favorite era of vintage furniture and accessories. She aptly named it Era Vintage and cruising through it is like a walk back in time (or a channel-surf through an episode of Mad Men). It has everything from vintage modern furniture and lighting to retro-cool dishware and knick-knacks. And one lucky lady or laddie will be getting a $200 gift card to snatch up some goodies for themselves. Plus, if you’re in the Richmond area you can catch even more flashback furnishings at a seasonal Era Vintage pop-up shop during the months of November and December at Modern Artifacts in Carytown.
- PRIZE: $200 gift card to Era Vintage
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “ERA ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … one aspect of a previous era that you’d love to see more of these days. Would you enjoy the resurgence of certain fashions from an earlier decade? Or would you appreciate a simpler existence (before wi-fi and iPhones)? Maybe you’d just like to buy a milkshake and a newspaper for five cents?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 31st at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Era Vintage.

Era me!!!
I wish men and women still wore hats!
Era me!!
Awesome furniture
ERA ME! I’d love to visit the ’50s and bask in the vintage-ness.
ERA ME!
ERA ME! I love classic cars! (20′s, 50′s, etc.) If only they had the same safety features as cars these days!
Era me…
Honestly, I LOVE the elaborate dresses of the Victorian era. Why can’t we get dressed up like that anymore?
ERA ME!
I’d like to see Polaroids again. Not the little teeny ones, but the legit, regular sized ones.
they do have them! it’s called the impossible project.
Era me!
As a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, I long for the 90s and Martyball…when our defense was stifling and it was fun to watch football.
Christina ~ As someone in the Chief’s territory, I laughed out loud at you comment and couldn’t agree more!
“ERA ME!”
I wouldn’t mind going back to the days before cell phones and computers. Maybe just for awhile.
ERA ME!
I’d love to have fresh milk and butter delivered to the door, and put my empty bottles out the night before. That would be awesomely tasty.
ERA ME! I love the fashion of the 40s and 50s and I wouldn’t mind returning to a more family-oriented time. That’s one of the reasons that I love your blog – sounds like you love your extended family like I love mine :)
Era Me! :)
ERA ME! gas prices :)
Era me!
I would love to bring back ladies’ hats, particularly the little cute ones from the 40s and 50s. Nothing like a few feathers and some netting to make a lady feel classy.
ERA ME!
ERA ME! Love me some old maps!
“era me” Silhouette prints! Love them!
Era me! Rotary phones!
ERA ME!!
I’m living in the era I want to be in. I’m always blown away and excited by new technologies :)
ERA ME! I like right now!
Era Me!!! I’d love to go back to pre-tv days. It can be such a huge time waster… but it’s so addicting! Is it sad that I’m sorta hoping for a power outage from Sandy?
ERA ME! I do appreciate the technology of today but I wished people would interface personally a bit more than we do (write letters, call someone on the phone, etc.)
ERA ME!
ERA ME!
I love everything about prior eras. I love the music, style, decor, & on & on it goes. I would love to have a mid-century modern inspired house filled with Sinatra tunes & love!
Era me!! Wouldn’t it be nice if it were still fashionable to be plump instead of skinny!
ERA ME! I love all things 1940′s… the prices weren’t bad either.
ERA ME! adorable little shop- cute giveaway. my grandmother would make delicious homemade bread every week back in the day. i’d love to take up that little tradition with my future family. feels like it’s not as common in our era.
ERA ME. While I really like right now, I also like Craftsman style, and a little art deco.
ERA ME! I am in love with the movies of the 20s and 30s. Give me a Gene Kelly and Danny Kay duet any day!
Era me!
Era Me!
I’m a fan of the 50s and 60s. (Most) Everything was made so well!
Era me! While I do enjoy the present, it would be fun to live in the 70s! The culture and clothing are intriguing!
ERA ME!!! I don’t think I could live without my iPhone so I choose to stick with here and now.
Era Me! I think I watch Mad Med just for the furniture :) 60′s all the way.. :)
ERA ME!
It’s completely impractical, but I’d love to be able to wear a Renaissance-style dress every day :)
ERA ME!
Kind of miss when things were simpler and we weren’t all soo plugged in but now I would not be able to live without it. Ignorance was bliss back then. ;)
ERA ME! I’d love to see the prices of the 70s, but I’m not so sure about that era’s fashion. : )
ERA ME!
While I love the conveniences of modern technology, I think it would be nice to have a simpler life sometimes. One where the kids can run around outside with their friends without the parents worrying. Or where you could actually avoid phone calls when you “werent home”. Cant do that anymore with cell phones.
Lol yes you can! Just cause I have a cell phone doesn’t mean I’m always available to talk. That’s what vibrate and voicemail are for! :)
ERA ME!
I could definitely go for a 5 cent milkshake…or those cool soda shops where you get to sit on old stools that spin in circles and a nice old man serves Coca-Cola in cool glasses and everyone always seems to be smiling! :)
ERA ME! I Love the mid century modern design era and I would love to see more the fashion from that time to come back. People dressed to impress back then. :)
Era me! The Roaring 20′s seem like such a romantic time…
ERA ME! I’d love to see people moving back towards local and seasonal food; having vegetable gardens in their back yard, keeping a few chickens (I have 3, and the fresh eggs can’t be beat), and generally cutting down on the emissions required to ship things from other continents so we can have strawberries year-round.
ERA ME! and I miss the days of newspapers with your morning coffee.
ERA ME!!!! Please :)
ERA ME! I like the Mid Century Modern pieces.
ERA ME!
Bring back 50′s clothes. So cute.
Era me! Coke in glass bottles…its just better!
Era Me!
I wish hats were still a thing people wore, more than just baseball and winter hats. I want to be able to wear some great, feathered thing to a party without looking like a weirdo. =)
ERA ME! I miss sending letters and pen pals, we should bring more of that back!
ERA ME! I love certain aspects of certain eras, especially when it comes to design, but as a female scientist (and gadget lover), I’m perfectly fine to be living in 2012!
ERA ME!
I think I would enjoy seeing the fashion styles from the victorian age… but I wouldn’t want to wear a corset for long!
ERA ME!
I have a soft spot for the 40s and 50s. Even though people worked hard like we all do today, things seemed simpler and less hectic. Wish life was still like that.
