Fab Freebie: Life is Bee-utiful
***This giveaway is closed – see who won below!***
Thanks for all of the anniversary wishes everyone! Random.org has helped us select a winner of this giveaway and it is… Tracy H (who says since she’s from Baltimore, she calls everyone “Hon”). Congrats Hon, er, Tracy!
In honor of our five-year anniversary on Saturday, we’re pulling inspiration from the bees that adorned our wedding invites (more on that here) for this week’s giveaway. And no, you won’t need a beekeeper’s suit for any of the prizes that we’ve assembled for this bee-tastic freebie. Here’s what you’ll score:
- Two Hive Vases from West Elm (just like I bought Sherry for Mother’s Day). You’ll get one of these hand-painted terracotta pieces in each height and in any color you choose.
- $200 towards paintings by Roz at Drunken Cows. Sherry got me one of Roz’s original bee oil paintings for my birthday a couple of years ago, and now you’ll get a couple hundred bucks to put towards one (or two or three!) of your own. And if buzzing insects aren’t your thing, Roz paints lots of other whimsical subjects too.
- Natural honey products from Abe’s Market (what’s a celebration of bees without some honey?). This online natural marketplace is not only including 20 packets of raw tupelo honey, but also some honey-infused shampoo, conditioner and body wash from Beecology. Oh yeah, and a $75 gift card to Abe’s Market for more natural goodies.
- Artisan body luxuries from The Bumblebee Studio. To make sure us fellas are represented in this prize set, The Bumblebee Studio is giving away their gentlemanly “Bee A Man” grooming kit as well as their popular lavender Bee Balm.
- PRIZE: All of the bee-themed prizes described above (nearly a $500 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HONEY ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … what kinds of pet names or terms of endearment you use in your family. Do you call your spouse something like “honey” or “babe” or “my squishy little love muffin?” Or do you just break out the cute nicknames for your kids and pets? Maybe you don’t use lovey-dovey monikers yourself, but your significant other has one for you?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 11th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- DISCOUNT: Use code “YOUNGHOUSE” to get 25% off The Bumblebee Studio (thru Aug 9th), 15% off Drunken Cows (thru Aug 9th) and 10% off Abe’s Market (thru July 16th)
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of West Elm, Drunken Cows, Abe’s Market and The Bumblebee Studio.

HONEY ME!
We typically just use honey or babe, but with the baby and a dog – it’s a free for all. Any cute, squishy sounding name goes. :)
Honey Me!!!
Honey MEEEEE! Full disclosure: I’ve only used this name once, but I’ve used the Korean name for ‘honey’ which is ‘Yobo’ for my wife. I call my daughter Diana, ‘Sweetie’, which I believe comes from the old Flemish word, ‘Sweh Ti’e', which as we all know means, “one who loves anything having to do with bees or things that include bee give-aways’. I’m pretty sure that’s accurate.
Honey Me!!
We’re not fans of squishy nicknames for ourselves (except for the dog and baby). Usually it’s just “Love” or “Babe.”
Honey me! The hubs and I call each other Chi. Why is a very long story!
Honey me…honey!
HONEY ME!
I like to use babe. or schnookums.
Honey me! We stick to the usual “babe” with a “sweetheart” every now and again.
Honey me! Appropriately, my husband’s nickname for me is “Bug” and I call him “Bear.” I have to stop myself from calling him it when we are in front of other people!
Honey me!
And hey, I call my boyfriend “Bear” and he calls me “Lovebug”…or “Bug” for short, too! And we were convinced we were the only ones in the world donning those names. ;)
HONEY ME!
And Rosebud… based on the family name of “Rose”!
HONEY ME! I wish I could get points for being the first comment (:
HONEY ME! I have lots of terms of endearment for the people in my ilfe, but our son really raised the ante. We called him squishy face for the first few months, then squishy man or squish, fat man (lovingly, of course), little Davis (his last name), little A, buddy, etc. etc.
HONEY ME!
I use “bay” to refer to my hubby. I rarely use his name.
HONEY ME! i call my fiance “chief” or “champ” … and he calls me “dear,” which started out as a joke but has become less & less sarcastic over the last few years. so it goes.
thanks & congrats on your anniversary!
Honey me! My husband and I don’t use pet names much, but I have pet names for my dogs… hahaha. Their “real” names are Yaara and Xena, but they are more frequently called Monkey and Princess FancyPants :)
HONEY ME! I call my husband ‘boy’ and he calls me ‘chica’.
HONEY ME! My husband calls me Poopie! Not sure where it came from, but it has stuck for about 8 years now….lol!!
Honey Me…..sorry, no crazy nicknames in this family that we can post to a public website!! But, sure do love the bee thing ya got goin’ on!
HONEY ME!
Honey me!… I use them mostly for our dog. Shugs, sweetums, Babycakes. The list goes on.
“HONEY ME!”
Hmmm….my husband and I don’t really do pet names for each other except that he is the only one of a very small handful of people that I let use the nickname “Nell”.
“HONEY ME!”
First?! But the first person never wins!
We keep the pet names mostly for the kids…but ‘babe’ slips in there often!
HONEY ME!
The hubs is usually just babe or honey. Kids (not mine yet) are often little lambs for some reason, I think it comes from my mom. Every now and then lampbchop slips out to, so strange.
Honey me! We throw out a babe here and there but mostly the cute names are reserved for the pups. They have a long list of cutesy names!
HONEY ME!
We don’t really have pet names for each other, but we each have a million for the dogs. “Stink butt,” “puppets,” and “puppy love” are my favorites.
i always call my dogs puppets!!! now only if they let me be the puppet master and do what i ask
Honey MEEEEEE.
I call my husband Poncho. The origins of this nickname are long forgotten, but it stuck. I hardly ever call him by his real name.
HONEY ME!
We don’t really have pet names for each other, but we call the as-yet-unnamed kitten “demonspawn” and “itty bitty kitty” or “itsy” when talking about her. Not exactly cute, but hey, that’s just how we roll!
Honey me!….peanut!
honey me!
my husband very affectionately calls me “wife.”
And here I thought I was the only one to get called that! To be fair, my hubby is always just husband.
Honey ME!
“Honey” or “handsome” are my favorites for my hubby!
HONEY ME! My nickname for my husband is whiskers.
Honey Me!
thanks to modern technology and auto correctI call my boo “Bug”… because apparently BUB isnt a real word?? it has stuck for 3 years
HONEY ME!
Honey Me! We just go with the usual lovey stuff in our house… honey, sweets, love.
HONEY ME!
My husband calls me cupcake. I love it :-)
Honey Me!! I call my precious little niece Boo!
HONEY ME…usually we use traditional pet names like babe, honey, or hun.
Honey me! We have names for each other that are ours, but we have a zillion names for our baby boy. “Cutie toots” is one of the tops at the moment.
Honey me! I’ve been wanting one of those hive vases for months! I’d sure love to win one here (plus all of the other wonderful prizes).
HONEY ME!
We affectionately call each other “B” or some obnoxious version of each others names that neither of us care for…all in the name of love :)
HONEY ME!
My nickname from my Grandpa was Anna B. (I guess it was really for banana, but I thought it was a bee when I was little) and my Dad calls me Bug =)
Honey ME! My husband and I used Honey so much that our kids were actually shocked to learn that was not each of our names.
HONEY ME!
HONEY ME! my kids are “love bug” and “goose”. my husband is “ding”…can’t remember where that started. perhaps i was calling him a ding a ling!
Honey Me!
Babe or Schmoops for the hubby.
The cutesy ones are for the kiddios!
Honey Me!
We actually have rather odd nicknames. I call him Bacon and he calls me Sauce. Sometimes he calls me Duck. I have no idea how we came up with these but they have stuck!
HONEY ME!!
My son is called my little honey bunny bear :)
Honey me!
My husband and I use standard “honey” and “sweetheart”, but our names for our siblings are a different story. I call my younger brother “Kid” almost exclusively, and my brother-in-law calls their other brother “Cool”.
HONEY ME!
I call my hubby, Babe and his friend’s call him “Mex.” My silly nick names are reserved for my 3 year old Havanese dog named, “Chewy.” Chewymonster, Chewybuns, Boo boo, Boogie, Boogaboo, Chu Chu, Chu Chu Train, Puppy Dog, Chu Man Chu, Chewy Chewy Bang Bang…
Honey me! We mostly save the nicknames for the kiddos – who each have several, and now our two-year-old has started giving his classmates at day care nicknames also.
HONEY ME! sugar, baby…dude
HONEY ME!… babe
Honey Me!
I used to call my nephew Gooberbutt. I also called my neice butterbean for a while. I called my dog variations of ‘little bit’ ‘baby bit’ and bumblebutt.
Apparently, I just make crap up….
Honey Me!
I call my husband babe and Robbles.
HONEY ME!
Hun, honey, babe. Just the standard. He got me into it, I never had any nicknames for previous peeps.
HONEY ME!
I call my nephews Tanker, Benny Buttons, Lanny Bear…they also tend to get some not so affectionate names suck as stinkerbutt :)
HONEY ME!
We both use “babe” – but sometimes I just use whatever comes to mind like “Bookie Bear” .. “Boskie woskie” has been in rotation as well!
