Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas
***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ‘em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

IDEA ME! I like to think my most creative ideas come to me in the kitchen. I hardly ever follow a recipe word-for-word.
IDEA ME!
This is not design related but yesterday morning we dragged my boys’ Cozy Coupes into the living room and set up a “Drive-in” movie. They had a blast!
IDEA ME!
Repurposing old couch cusions to be new foam pads for a refinished chair. Foam is expensive!
IDEA ME!!! Would love to get a jumpstart on our nursery!!

IDEA ME…
I hated the look of our cheapo television stand with its open shelving, so I found a pretty neutral-colored sheer fabric that I covered the shelving with. And, because it’s sheer, our remotes still work without having to move the fabric!
Idea me… hubby needs to buy some boards to build a laundry basket sorter ala Knock Off Wood.
IDEA ME!
“IDEA ME” Most creative idea…hmmmm. Taking down closet doors and allowing my son an alcove so that he sleeps better (its darker)
Idea Me! I made a kitchen window valance out of bamboo rods. I connected then with wire and glass beads and decorated it by placing glassbeads, shells and even a little copper bell with pieces of wire. It’s one of my all time favorite DIYs projects.
IDEA ME! hootiehoo hootiehoo WOOT WOO!
hoping for the win — my most creative home project is tough, the wheels are going all the time! But, I recently solved a towel-hanging issue in our very small, ocean critter themed guest bedroom by using boat cleats and nautical rope.
What? No ORB? You, horrible Sherry, have gotten me addicted to that stuff too!!! It totally rocks.
IDEA ME!
My most recent creative idea is hanging the measuring cups and spoons from magnet hooks on the side of the fridge. No more digging in drawers to find a teaspoon!
Idea me! I have so many ideas for whenever we get a house. My favorite one is the artwork we’re going to have in the kitchen and buying a clock I found that is made out of a soup can!
IDEA ME!
I’m a pretty creative person but lately all my ‘creative’ ideas have been coming from Pinterest!! I just created a chalkboard frame from IKEA for the kitchen!
IDEA ME …
My most creative idea is a desk, made out of a door! Which I got from you!
“Idea me”
I’m not too creative, but the other day I did tweak a chickpea chocolate chip cookie recipe to make it even healthier but still pretty good. My husband even ate them:)
IDEA ME! My most creative housing solution was making a half wall out of the wall that previously was a full wall in between our dining room and kitchen. it is amazing how much larger a house can seem when you just open things up a little! :)
IDEA ME!
My most creative idea was taking an olddd, beat-up (but secretly beautiful) dresser and painting it a beautiful red with awesome knobs! Turned my room from drab to fab instantly! Love your blog :)
IDEA ME!
Oh man, I’ve had a lot of creative ideas over the years, but none that really stand out in my mind as being anything worthy of a “best” title. Hmmm . . . I guess deciding to make my own headboard before I started reading blogs a few years back was a pretty good idea as well as making a bookshelf that has a table extender for my dorm room senior year with my dad was an awesome idea (although it was all his idea about how to actually execute it). When I actually own a home I’ll be getting much more creative!
What is your favorite creative idea you two have come up with? You have so many to choose from!

IDEA ME!
A friend was tearing down an old barn. I got her to lay aside the barn door and some pieces of wood. Later I used the barn door for my photography business as an inside background for bad weather days or babies. I also made frames out of the barn wood pieces for my parents.
IDEA ME!
I’m not very creative…except for when I’m in the kitchen. I made a concoction for dinner one night that my husband couldn’t get enough of. It was a mexican lasagna, with just about everything left over in the fridge mixed with some salsa, cheese and sour cream. it rocked!!!
IDEA ME!
My most creative (and easiest) project lately has been covering the ugly yellow-tan switchplates on the walls of our house with various scrapbook paper & mod podge! They look so much better, I think it makes me sleep better at night knowing I won’t have to wake up and look at those horrid yellow/white plastic uglies all over the place anymore.
IDEA ME! Use old wooden planks and screwing in Anthropologie doorknobs and handles to hang on my wall and hang necklaces from.
IDEA ME!
IDEA ME! And “Hootie Hoo”! :)
IDEA ME!
Best idea so far: the right sized small-dog crate plus a cheap IKEA end table = dog crate cleverly disguised as an end table. It only took a few bits of hardware to keep everything together, and now the little dog crate tucks away in plain view, so the puppy can hang out with us even in the crate! The big-dog crate would need at least a card table to hide under though…
Idea Me!
My boyfriend and I painted two-tone stripes throughout our living room in our apartment. We didn’t think it was too creative, but everyone who came over said it looked great and was unique.
Idea me!
Idea Me! Lately, all my ideas are not my own… Thank you Pinterest! :)
IDEA ME!
I guess I am most creative when it comes to baking – I love coming up with a cake design and making beautiful treats! Unfortunately, that creativity has not translated to DIY projects – that is what Pinterest is for! :)
IDEA ME!
I used wicker baskets for wall storage in my son’s bedroom.

I figured out we could sort our cats (fat one needs no more food, skinny one should get all the food she can) by putting a screen frame over a bookshelf shelf with a gap just wide enough for skinny cat to go through, but not wide enough that fat cat can also fit. Then we just put the skinny cat’s food on the shelf and only she can get it!
IDEA ME!
I know I’ve had the occasional creative idea but they’re all escaping me at the moment! “Mommy brain” (and my 3 month old) are to blame!
IDEA ME…love Lowe’s Creative Mag! My best creation would be the super cute book nook I created for my 5 year old underneath an Ikea loft bed or using colorful scrapbook paper cut into triangles and sewn together to make “bunting” and hang around her room at the ceiling.
IDEA ME!
We’re finishing up a new half bath in our little 50′s rancher and I was puzzling over decor ideas until I hit the design jackpot: It’s going to be a themed bathroom with all NC and ECU art covering the walls (in white frames, wonder where I got that…). My excitement has given this dull project a whole new life!
Idea me!!
I used a bamboo utensil drawer, covered it with pretty paper, installed some fun knobs, and made it into a little stand to display necklaces and bracelets!
IDEA ME!
I love coming up with DIY ideas rather than buying things. :)
Idea Me!!!
IDEA ME! We live in a row house in DC and have a tree box that we share with our next door neighbors that extends almost half a city block. It was full of weeds and overgrown grass, and was a big eyesore. I devloped a plan to pull out the grass and create various boxes, or zones, with mulch and grasses, rocks and pavers. Now it is very minimalist and almost maintenace free!
IDEA ME!
Oh the pressure…probably the “hooks” I made out of bolts, knobs, piping, and washers to hang our kitchen step stool under the counter overhang. I could NOT find a ready-made solution for that one!
