Two Heartfelt Letters
Letter #1:
Dear Non-Pinterest Users,
Pinterest might just change your life. And I know what you’re thinking. You’re rolling your eyes and saying “Great, something else to keep up with.” “Something else I have to learn how to use.” “Some other time suck.” I know because I thought these things too. I gave myself every excuse in the book not to get involved (“I already spend enough time keeping up with Facebook”, “I keep inspiration in a binder and in a folder on my desktop – who needs another place?”). And then I talked to Katie B who held a gun to my head persuaded me to quit whining and just go over to pinterest.com and request an account. So I did. And then about two weeks later a verification email showed up in my inbox. And then the “ahhhhhhh” angel sound effect kicked in (you know the one when the clouds part and a ray of light shines down?) and I. Was. In. Love.

Seriously, you know how people say to find your happy place if you’re in a bad mood or feeling uninspired? Pinterest is my happy place. You think that’s enough gushing? I’m not sure it is. Let’s just say I have more ideas than ever. Thanks to all of the amazing inspiration that’s shared every second. I have more ideas for Clara’ birthday party, our house, future art projects, sewing projects with Clara’s weekly photo fabric.

Basically every piece of eye candy that speaks to you can be “pinned” (added to your board) with a note, so you can even remind yourself things like “I want to do this with green balloons for Clara’s party” or “I hope our console table has the same rustic and amazing finish as the stairs in this pic.” So there it is, my invitation into a world full of inspiration and excitement and eye candy as far as the eye can see. Hope to see ya on the flip side. And by the flip side, I mean Pinterest.
- xoxo, Sherry

Letter #2:
Dear Pinterest Users,
Oh my gosh. I know some of you told me about Pinterest months ago and I’m SO LATE on this bandwagon, but I can’t believe how much I love it.

So you were right. Picture me tipping my hat to you. Anyway, here’s a direct link in case you want a peek into my crazy decor/party/baby obsessed mind. Oh and I’m still learning my way around so please forgive me if I commit some giant Pinterest faux pas and don’t follow you back or write back if you write me. It took me way too long to get over there and it’ll probably take me a while to get my “sea legs” when it comes to anything other than pinning and repinning (which is my favorite thing ever!).

In fact I gotta go pin something right now. See ya.
- xoxo, Sherry
Psst- I know this whole post sounds like a big ad for Pinterest but we weren’t paid or perk’d for it. I am just DIE HARD OBSESSED. So pardon my in your face enthusiasm. I’ve had two Pinterest themed dreams since Sunday. It’s a sickness.

Have you been to http://www.thefancy.com/ This is my new obsession, similar to Pinterest, but more streamlined from what I can tell. Not sure I have time for both of these, but def want to see if I like Pinterest better!
Ooh never heard of it! Off to investigate…

Wow – I can see where many of my future hours are going to go -LOVING this!!
Do older pins get dropped? I see thigns on YHL where you show some of your pins, and I’d like to get a closer look, but I don’t seem to see some of them when I go to Pinterest – anyone know why this is? Is there something I need to do to see all the pins??
I broke up one big board to create smaller boards by category, so nothing is missing, it’s just stored in different folders now. I think there’s a way to see all of my pins at once though (clicking something like “show all pins” or something? Hope it helps!

Hmmm, I think I’ll have to check it out…
I L-O-V-E Pinterest and yes, it is a sickness. I was just telling someone this weekend how addicting it is. I started using it a few months ago after hearing a guy from my town started it. I had some technical glitches with my acct and emailed them and Ben got back to me right away and emailed me several times. So, they have great customer service too. Pinterest is going to be HUGE :)
love pinterest…have been addicted since last summer. i’m just SO thrilled that you have a screenshot of one of my dear friend’s projects in your post. Lillian from http://www.domesticsimplicity.com made those awesome IKEA spice rack bookshelves. she is awesome.
Yes she is! So smart!!!

I realize I am late to this post…just wanted to say that you guys are my “happy-web-place” :) Seriously, I can be having the most stressful day ever (ahem), I take a second to catch up with you guys and BAM! Insta-smile. So thank you! BTW I even took a picture of the BESTEST white ceramic animals/wonderland ever. The store display even had wonderland written in white on front of it – my favorite were the one foot or so tall little piggies with chef’s hats on them. Phenomenal. LOVED them. Didn’t however love the price…wop wop. So instead I bought a tiny little smart looking white ceramic owl. Happiness :)
Sherry, did you just hear that?? It was me, saying “oh no”… I should have warned you… I have a slight obsessive-compulsive personality, with a good ol dose of Type A’ed-ness on top & me just learning of this whole Pinterest might just be the worst thing to hit since the swine flu. I thought I loved all things moodboard / inspiration board / polyvore – ish, so Pinterest could quite possibly take over my brain. There goes the neighborhood… Can’t wait to start playing :)

This is too funny. I wrote a post this week about how much I am obsessed with Pinterest and apparently I’m not the only one. I’ve seen at least 2 other blog posts just in the last couple days about it! So much fun!
Thank you for posting the instant invite links! Super excited – and now I don’t think I will be reading like I originally planned! Here we are Pinterest! Add me! http://pinterest.com/linzm84/
Thank you soo much for sharing this!!!! This is perfect for me…I’m constantly browsing the internet and when I find things I like I end up just emailing myself the link for them. Half the time though, I forget about the email or it takes awhile to sort through my emails to find it again. I haven’t even been “accepted” yet lol, but I’m already super excited to try it out! :)
Sherry – I may have missed it – but did you put your link up there so we can add you?
Thanks!
Yup, you can just go to pinterest.com/younghouselove to find me! In fact I’m over there right now. Haha.

Thanks for getting me hooked! I love pinterest and all the other things that YHL has gotten me hooked on! You guys have such great taste!
I lovvvve Pinterest! I started using it for wedding inspiration at the suggestion of our invitation designer but now I’m using it for home design ideas too. Here’s my link if you wanna follow me! http://pinterest.com/lizmenard/
And yes, I agree, it is HIGHLY addictive. :)
I’ve been on Pintrest for a couple of months and I love it! Believe it or not, people pin stuff from Casa Petersik up there all the time! :)
awe.some.
Thank youuuuuuu!
Gee! Thanks Sherry! Like I need something else to take up my precious free time! ;-) I havent even signed up for my own account yet and I am addicted!!
Hi Sherry
I’m referring to one of your pinterest http://pinterest.com/pin/13624009/. The green & white bathroom. Do you guys happen to know what’s the style of that featured sink? I’m looking for something simple like that for the powder room. Thanks.
Lissa
We would just describe that as a sink with an exposed steel frame or metal legs. But that’s probably not the expert term, haha. I think Kohler makes one (and Pottery Barn used to sell a vanity kind if like that I think). Good luck!

oh no…I should have never looked at this post this site is simply amazing and I wont ever get anything done until I feel like I’ve looked at the whole thing. haha. Thanks for demanding that we should all get on board because now I don’t know what I would do without it. :)
I love Pinterest, it’s so fun, inspiring and relaxing all at the same time.
I love pinterest!! Very addicting to say the least.
I had a question on a picture in this post. Under the 2nd letter to pinterest users there is a picture that looks like a huge upside down blue pyramid…. do you have the link to that pinterest… i saw it and clicked on it, but didn’t get a chance to read the post. Can you send me the link if you know what it is??
Thanks!!
I just reorganized my pinterest pins into different folders and I think I deleted that pin- so sorry. But I think if you go to piterest.com and search “orgami” you’ll probably find it. It was an amazing gallery show with orgami paper strung up into giant shapes (like a big blue inverted pyramid). Hope it helps!

Pinterest is a sickness – I have it too ;) x
I requested an invite the same day as this post and still havent heard anything :(
Not sure why you cant register instantly like most websites?
They’re just a small start up in beta testing so it takes about two weeks (at least it did for me) but it’s so worth the wait! Good luck!

So i am sooooo upset at myself for going on pinterest…i just KNEEEEWW that I would get obsessed..and sure enough, I am! I checked my email every minute anxiously waiting for the invite and i finally got it..haven’t left my computer in like a million hours! Thanks a lot sherry! lol jk jk jk absolutely love your blog..peace and blessings!! :)
Amazing!
Okay Sherry, Pinterest just cost me three hours of my life! So very addicting. I love anything organization related. This is definitely so much easier than getting a notebook, magazines and plastic sleeves.
Seriously thanks for the link. I have the whole week off (I’m a teacher) and I know what I’ll be spending all my free time doing.
BTW it’s snowing here in Rochester, New York !!!
Wow- I can’t believe it’s snowing there! We had an 80 degree day with lots o’ sun (and pollen, haha).

thanks so much for the automatic pinterest link! :)
i stumbled across this post of Sherry’s and immediately became addicted to pinterest. so many cool things! i love how all my inspirations are in one spot now!! :)
As for you Sherry, I’ll be following your pins!
ugh…sherry i’m blaming you for my sleep deprivation! i’m obsessed with pinning! thanks for introducing me:)
Okay so I had an epiphany yesterday while “pinning” in Pinterest. I’ve been planning for some time now to make custom curtains for my sunroon. I need custom as I can’t buy 112-115″ panels like I need. So I’ve been trying to find the perfect fabric that fits in my (modest) budget. I figure I need around 28 yards of fabric to be on the safe side. I really want something fun and graphic but apparently I have expensive taste in fabric (like $30/yard expensive) so I was getting discouraged.
Yesterday I found a fantastic stencil that I am dying to use…but where? It hit me, could I stencil my own curtains with fabric paint? I could buy plain old white fabric for a few dollars per sqaure foot and create my own designer curtains? I know you didn’t have the best luck with your fabric paint experience but if I do deceide to take the plunge, I’ll let you know how it turns out. Yay for inspiration!
Yay! That sounds awesome! You can even use latex paint on most fabric (since you can get a quart of it for cheap and get it mixed to any color). Good luck!

i first saw a friend who was pinning while a bunch of us were watching a basketball game on tv. at the time, i had a little bit of interest, but never asked her more about it. then everybody started talking about it and i started to get more curious and asked her to send me an invite. now, i’m crazy obsessed too. i just posted about it on my blog.

booo hooo. JUST found out that pinterest is now blocked on my work computer. It wasn’t previously. They probably found out how addicting it is and blocked it under ‘social networking’. DANG.
BOOO! That stinks. Time for a new job. Just kidding. Maybe you’ll start surfing it at night while watching TV like I do? Haha.

I’m new to Pinterest, so this may sound like a silly question…How do I follow you on Pinterest?
I’m still figuring things out over there- haha. But I think if you go to pinterest.com/younghouselove you should be able to click “follow all.” Have fun!

Check out my blog post about Pinterest. Offering 5 invites personally. http://framedfrosting.blogspot.com/
Ok, I think I’m in. But, why is it so exclusive? Why do you need an invite?
They’re a small start up (I think only a few people work on it) so it takes them time to code stuff and create accounts.
xo,

girl! Can’t find you! How do I follow you on Pinterest? Here is my Pinterest “handle”:
