Seven Minutes Of Your Life You’ll Never Get Back
I don’t know what possessed me to record nearly 10 minutes of mundane family time, but here’s Clara, Burger, John and my annoying behind-the-camera voice in all of their glory:
Don’t say I didn’t warn you about losing seven minutes of your life watching something so painfully uneventful that it even bores the people it stars. Haha. But for anyone wondering how we spend our evenings, sometimes this is it.
Psst- My girl Amy tipped me off that Michael’s has a “25% off your entire purchase” coupon that’s good thru Saturday the 2nd. We scored a few giant canvases that were already 50% off for an extra 25% off. Just wanted to toss that out there before the coupon and the canvas sale expires.

Just found this and thought of you! :) This website – http://indiefixx.com/Feed_your_soul/downloads.html – offers free downloadable art. Might be something for your wall of frames or Clara’s room?
Thanks for the tip! Off to check it out…

Totally not home related, but I did want to say, it’s good you’re recording the mundane. Our memories are fickle things, tending to remember the bright points in our lives. I’ve made a point to take pictures and video of lots of things most people wouldn’t. My 20 month old with her finger shoved halfway up her nose grinning like a fool? Picture! My 3 1/2 year old screaming and crying about the ant her sister squished? Video! I want to remember everything, the good, the bad, the boring. Life as a parent isn’t always happy sunshine, it’s hard and it’s worth documenting the good and the bad, and every moment in between. It’s good to know someone else is possibly doing this as well! (My friends usually just snort or make a WTH face when they look at our photos… Usually followed with a, “Why would you take a picture of her crying??” or some other exclaimation of the sort..)
I bet this conversation started out, “Look at all the people following our blog. I bet we could post a 10 minute video of ANYTHING, and they would watch”. haha. Love your blog… we have all been suckered in. :)
The funny thing is that we still think of this blog as a diary for ourselves. You know, to remember everything. So sometimes the more family related posts like this are selfishly shared just to make sure that we don’t only “record” all the hard work and the makeover magic when it comes to our blog, but also “keep” the mundane moments that will mean just as much in hindsight (when we’re all doing something amazingly average as a family). I’m a sap like that. Haha.

Clara is too cute! I love her crooked crawling! And Burger running around like a crazy man had me cracking up!
Why do videos never show up on my screen in your (awesome) blog? It’s just a blank space. And I *so* wanted to see the Petersik’s chillin’. :)
Maybe there’s some sort of blocking software running (if you’re at work they might block youtube for example)? That’s my best guess!

Such a cute video! Sherry, you’re voice sounds just like Mila Kunis! Someone has to have told you that before! Maybe youcould get a job on Family Guy if Mila ever leaves :)
Haha, yes I get that a lot. And I also get Natalie Portman a ton. Which is funny because a) they were both in Black Swan and b) they don’t really sound that similar to me. Haha.

I didn’t see the video until this mroning (at work…woops) but those were seven minutes I really enjoyed and I love your blog!! Thanks for posting all the projects you guys are involved in. The step by step process is very helpful!!
my now 2 year old daughter did the exact same crawl! watch out, she will get super fast at what we dubbed the ‘peg-leg’ crawl. She crawled ‘normally’ on the rug, but on the hardwoods, always used the peg legs to propel her and just let the right knee scoot along under her. so funny to see another smart little girl figure it out. It must be way easier on the knees, too!
Babies are so smart, i tell you. they know way more than they let on!
Clara is a doll!
We have a 14 month old son and we spend most of our nights the same way!! It’s amazing HOW much time you spend sitting on the floor when you have little ones! I always tell my hubby I am so sore at night and he never gets it!! Try sitting on the floor all day!!!! :)
Never a dull moment! ha. Actually, I love nothing more than babies and pooches, so this video is right up my alley. Plus, some up close and personal time with the new rug is nice. Thanks for sharing these moments of your cute
family.
Love the rug. Last weekend, I showed my husband one similar to it, and he said, “That is where dinner goes to die.”
Guess we’re not getting one.
You think that is bad?? I have an entire 30 minute video of my daughter – our first child – attempting to roll over. It starts with my husband and I using toys just out of her reach … talking to her … anything to get her to roll over. Then he gets a call. And I continue to talk, beg, shake toys … all while you hear my hubby’s conversation and see video of my daughter stretching, moving and getting OH SO CLOSE to rolling over. But she never does. 30 minutes long this video. The most annoying thing you could ever see. Kid never rolls over and my husband talks and talks and talks. And my voice is beyond grating. They could play it non-stop at in prisons and it would be considered torture. Forget Jack Bauer. All you need is this video and any terrorist would talk before the end of round 2. First time parents … we all do it.
Haha, I love the visual of your husband getting a call in the background as you shake toys desperately. Hilarious.

Totally cute…I thought Clara was going to walk when she hiked up that one leg LOL…..
Thanks for the tip on Michael’s….*looks around for artwork in need of framing*
Aww cute.. You guys gave me a little baby-itch.. I think it’s time to have the “baby talk” with my boyfriend, haha ! You are such a cute family and I think it’s great that little Claragirl is raised in such a creative atmosphere!
I’m going to be honest…I didn’t watch the whole thing. O_o BUT…I bet that in 10 years your going to think this is a pretty exciting 7 min. video. And Clara will love seeing herself as a “mundane” baby.
Great girl :-) And great toys, I buy the same whe I am visiting babies from my friends.
Just started following your blogspot, you guys are great! WE have a 16 month old son with a daughter on the way this July… I have sold on craigslist a ton of our stuff and am starting with a clean slate in 2 rooms downstairs. I love your green area rug and am wondering where you got it and what that style is called, can you help?? PS used the Micheals coupon too, thanks for the tip!
We got that green wool shag rug from Overstock. Hope it helps!

I was watching this video with my 2 month old son (whom I have a ton of 7 minute+ videos about). He was smiling and cooing the whole time. Probably because how you talk in the video is a lot like how I talk to my son, my cats and my hubby. It’s too funny!
Early on my mother in law suggested we videotape dinner. Over the years we’ve occasionally captured dinner without calling attention to the camera. We have a record of some typical conversations with A&W (now both in m.s.) that are a neat snapshot of a typical conversation around our dinner table. These moments are better than any of our other footage. You’ll cherish you Clara moments forever.
Love YHL (read about you in Wash Post)
Time watching Clara is never wasted, she is so adorable! Also, when her grandparents start producing those “vespa rockers” for their own family business be sure to pst it, I’d be first in line!
So cute. Just the baby fix I needed living on campus! :)
My kids are 6 and 3 and I video tape mundane life all the time! I mean sure, it’s fun to capture their first steps and memorable stuff like that. But really, I love where they’re at right now and I just want to remember the way they talked and moved and interacted because I know it will change. Plus, you never know what funny things you’ll capture on video! :)
You can never go wrong with babies and puppies! Seriously you guys, she is SO adorable and TOTALLY worth watching for 7 minutes. Now I have to go and get Eric and make him watch it:)
I loved watching the video of your PRECIOUS little girl. I have a daughter who was born on May 5th so it is fun to watch videos and see how all of the kiddos are are alike at this age. I especially loved when her daddy walked into room and her face lit up! My little one does that and it melts my heart every time. Thanks for sharing!
