Feelin’ Lucky
Here it is folks, our monthly “thank you” to our sponsors for making the other 30+ posts possible (and keeping us Petersiks fed & sheltered). Instead of listing names, we like to share stuff that makes us inspired/hyper – not that we’ve been gifted anything (here’s our no-swag policy). So these are just happy go lucky favorites – you know, in honor of St. Paddy’s Day. And there’s something in it for you. No, not a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (just some leprechaun humor there) but some sweet reader discounts at the bottom of this post. Because we love four-leaf-clover you.

Hi Sherry & John,
Nothing to do with this post really but I was directed to your Flickr page somehow (probably from Clara’s weekly photo) and I watched her Mouth Orchestra video – she had me cracking up…she is absolutely hilarious!!! Such a little personality on her!! That sweet little girl of yours must be constant comic relief :)
Aw thanks so much. She is definitely the entertainment around here. Her and her fur-brother Burger of course.

First,
I’m super glad that FLOR is finally coming out with decent patterns.
Second,
I love Clara’s bald head. My own little girl just turned one and is so bald! I can’t resist kissing bald babies!
I love you guys and everything that ya’ll do! please keep up the good works!
Now a clara and burger post please! thanks!!!!
-ginai
You’ll get some Burger in this afternoon’s post for sure! Let’s just say he’s excited about bugs…

I was just wondering.. why don’t you ever thank your big sponsors like Lowe’s or Home Depot. I see them from time to time on your page (upper right hand corner?)
Good question! Those are random ads generated by Google Ad Sense, so they’re not personal site sponsors that we work with directly. The guys that we shout out contact us to show some YHL love and support (which rocks our socks). Of course we’re thankful to Google Ad Sense for delegating and managing those for us too though!

I love all of these things, especially the wall stencils and the Oh Happy Girl print from Hoot Design, which may become my “Sue the Napkin” for my daughter’s room!
Are you guys working on a big project right now? Knowing you it seems like the posts you’ve put out lately are smaller than what you are usually tackling…so I thought I would ask outright :) Either way I love the blog and Happy Friday!
We have a few things in-progress for sure! That’s kind of always how it is though. Haha. We thrive on the chaos.

Huge collection of links to great products. Thanks.

Just checked out House 8810 and That stuff is FUNNY! I mean a table saw for cutting cake? And a phone book booster seat? Hilarious.
Great products. My fav is the bean and the burger. The two best of all.
Hi John & Sherry!
I have been a huge fan of your blog for over a year now and I think you guys are so amazing. I love watching your house evolve with all of your diy projects and of course who doesn’t love babies and chihuahuas! (my babies are teens but but chihuahua Rosita is still baby size :)
Anyway I think a while back you posted that you didn’t know what to do with the wall behind Ed the bed. How about doing one of the stencil designs like the interlocking chains from your stencil sponsor? If you wanted to keep it mellow you could use the same color paint but use a high gloss to give a very subtle pattern. Just a thought! Take care.
That’s too funny because we have been dying to work at least one stencil and one wallpaper into this house somewhere – just for fun and to learn some new skillz (we’ve only done floor stencils and have never done wallpaper). Should be an adventure…

Not related to this post at all – but your LOVE of ceramic animals has me seeing them everywhere! I was watching friends and thought YHL would love the big ceramic dog!
Um yeah. I’m obsessed with that guy. Wouldn’t he be right at home with all of my ceramic animal friends? I want to adopt him.

You guys rock – been following your blog for a little while and I always enjoy seeing what’s next. Thanks for the great discounts as well – I’ve been wanting to check out FLOR for some time now and now’s a great opportunity!
Didn’t you hear? Kale is the new beef.
Haha, well that explains why Clara loves it! She’s the hippest baby in town.

You have great sponsors! And I’d love to see a wall quote over your bed, or in your office. I want to do that, but I’m chicken on ruining it…I need a tutorial from YHL!
So maybe you’ve already said…but what do you plan to do with all that fabric that you use for Clara’s weekly photo?? Methinks it could make a very fun/eclectic quilt….just a thought :)
Yup we’d love to make a quilt and a birthday banner among other things! Just need to learn how to sew. Haha.

Thanks for the wonderful product links. I would love to buy a mirror from Z Gallerie but no discounts? Nevermind, I will wait for a sale. Keep the good stuff coming!

My 9 month old son really enjoys kale chips! I make them really crispy so that they just dissolve in his mouth. And they’re so yummy that my husband and I love them too.
Mmm, those do sound good!

I actually enjoy these ad shout out posts, but I never see a single ad on your website. It’s just empty space beneath the word “sponsor.” Any idea why?
You must have ad blocking software running. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the recco and discount codes. You all rock! :)
What a great idea to do a ‘thank you’ roundup – I can only hope that SOMEDAY {in the far far future} that my blog will be popular enough me to do such a thing. Genius… It is such common sense just like you two – everything you do just embodies common sense. Keep up the great work, you are inspiring to an aspiring blogger!
Cheers,
Meagan from The Row House Nest
I just died over the “I love you like biscuits and gravy” hand towel. I’m originally from the south and I love biscuits and gravy (or B&G as i affectionately call it) so. much! my husband teases me about it.
Thanks for sharing… I’ll be going to order that hand towel now!
I just have to say that your little picture of Nate made me sad!
I have DishNetwork and there is this whole dispute thing going on here in Hampton Roads and I have not been able to watch Nate ALL WEEK since he is on one of the channels that they blocked out. GRR!
Hopefully they will resolve whatever issue they have SOON!!!
Know of anywhere to watch it online?
You can watch clips on his site (thenateshow.com). We don’t get his show at all here in Richmond. Boo!

Woo! I know what I’m going to be doin’ this rockin’ Friday night. Shopping for ideas! Thanks for the links, ya’ll.
I’m really glad you do this for a living. (So I don’t have to.)
I have those apple green Fostoria goblets! I guess that means I’m an “antique” as well, because they were my wedding crystal pattern :) Seriously, they are beautiful glasses. Really heavy and fun to drink from. I always loved the moonstone design, but have at times wished we had chosen clear glass since the green went out of style for a while. It’s back though now, proving that everything you own will eventually come back in style if you live long enough…
I love that! They’re classic, timeless, and lovely!

Those glasses would be gorgeous with your (future) apple green leather dining room chairs :)
I like how you think! Haha.

As an avid reader, and from Ireland…I had to point this out. It’s Paddy not Patty!

Haha, duly noted! Off to fix it.

I just bought that exact material from Clara’s week 42 photo. Isn’t it cheerful? I wanted to make inserts for the tray tops of an ottoman, problem was orange is the color splash for the room so I painted the green dots with orange fabric paint and voila … Orange centered daisies :)
So cute! Love that fabric, and the paint idea!
xo,

Hi guys. Love your house! What a bright and fun space! What are the paint colors in your living room and bedroom?
I’m like you, itching for spring. Unfortunately, things are moving along a little slower in Cincinnati. Yesterday we woke up to a dusting of snow!
Our living room is Moonshine by Benjamin Moore and our bedroom is Carolina Inn Club Aqua by Valspar (both color matched to Olympic’s no-VOC paint). Hope it helps!

I was glad to see these listed! We’re tackling changing up our master bedroom a bit right now so I browsed for ideas.
Any favorite place for window treatments? I’m struggling to find the right look!
You might wanna check out zgallerie.com for something- or ballarddesigns.com, westelm.com, potterybarn.com, jcpenney.com or even places like Target or Lowe’s or Home Depot in person. Hope it helps! Oh and Ikea has awesome affordable options too!

I’m super excited about my new purse from Jenna Lou. Thanks for the discount!
not to be sippin’ on the haterade but you guys are posting less and less…it used to be 40+ posts a month then last month’s roundup up 35+…now it’s 30+.
ps-the napkin is now on sale for 1.95 on crate and barrel’s website!
Thanks for the Sue sale info! As for our posting frequency, 30+ is just a guess (we like to guess under rather than over, haha) but this past week we shared 2 posts every weekday except for Wed. for a total of 9 – so we still think we post a lot! We shared blog goals for the year here:
http://www.younghouselove.com/2010/10/blogiversary-iii-goal-tending/
http://www.younghouselove.com/2010/12/twenty-eleven-resolutions/
… so those will explain our real-time approach and our desire to find balance and enjoy some nights & weekends with family instead of the computer/hammer. We wish there were more hours in the day for projects, posts, and other stuff like eating & sleeping, but until we can figure out how to clone ourselves, this’ll have to do. Haha.

Your no-swag policy is a great idea but weren’t you recently given a lawnmower to try? That you still have? (And reviewed positively.) And I’m fairly sure in the past you’ve talked about how places like Z Gallerie have given you things (an extra mirrored candlestick that you used to have in the bedroom, etc). So it seems you do get swag.
Hey Nicky,
We got the lawnmower in June (read about it here) and we announced our no swag policy later that year in December (read about it here) – we even mention the lawnmower in the write up). Everyone loves a freebie, but we just felt odd about accepting them anymore, so we made that declaration and haven’t accepted anything else from that point on (not from ZGallerie or anyone else). We even recently gave prize money away to one of our favorite charities here. Hope it helps!

Thank you for the flor.com code… Ive been playing around on the flor.com site ‘building’ a rug for my daughters room, waiting until a code came around… was so so so excited when you posted it ! Im so excited to have it arrive !
yay for discounts, thanks! i need some new kitchen hardware!!! clara’s eyes are SOOOO blue in that last picture, so cute!!!
Oh no! I think flor goofed on their discount code website. The website says good until Friday 3/26, but it’s not working, and today is SATURDAY 3/26. Bummer, I’m just ordering a huge rug.
Oh man they must have programmed it to work until Friday. Maybe try calling them and seeing if they’ll honor it today?

I was seeking this particular the other day. i don’t often post throughout forums but i wanted to say thank you!
