Fab Freebie: Deco-rating Help
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – look below to see who won!***
The winner of the $300 gift card toward the MyDeco Boutique as selected by random.org is… Beth-BTW (who uses virtual mood boards sometimes, but usually flies by the seat of her pants when it comes to decor planning). Congrats!
This week’s prize comes from mydeco.com, a site that helps you design a space you’ll love in many ways. For starters, they catalog products from hundreds of retailers in one search-able spot. But they go above and beyond too: allowing you to create mood boards, collect your favorite items in online folders, and even virtually decorate your home in 3D using thousands of finishes and materials. Oh, and most importantly this week, they’re helping one of you with $300 (!!) to spend in the mydeco boutique – a hand-picked collection of designer items, like these below:
- PRIZE: A $300 gift card toward the MyDeco Boutique
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “THAT’S MY DECO!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … share what techniques you use when planning to decorate a space. Do you rely on some of these tools like mood boards, inspiration folders, or virtual room planners? Or do you fly by the seat of your pants a bit more? (Oh, and we’d love to know what you might spend that $300 on if you were to win too!)
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…

THAT’S MY DECO!!
I usually collect magazine pages and search the internet for inspiration. Sometimes I start with an “inspiration piece.”
“THAT’S MY DECO!” so exciting!!!!!!
id love to have some final decorating touches!!!! thanks for the opportunity!! :D
that’s my deco!
I use a combination of the Internet and window shopping as tools for decorating. a lot of times, I just buy stuff that I like and try to work it into one of our rooms. right now, I’m dying to have an owl umbrella stand, which is sold on mydeco, so I’ll snatch that up if I win! :)
THAT’S MY DECO!
I look at design blogs and mags for inspiration and then let it stew. Can’t tell you how long I’ve been thinking about buying a sunburst mirror for over the mantle.
THAT’S MY DECO!!!!
I always look for inspiration pic’s and usually make a mood board of sorts. I like to find ways to recreate things i’ve seen with my own DIY twist! I’m not sure what I’d buy. My husband and I are in the process of moving into our first home in the next month or two…so i’m compliling all the inspiration for a whole new house to decorate!!!
THAT’S MY DECO!
Geeky, but I love to use Google Sketch-up to help plan my decorating. That and reading blogs like this for inspiration!
That’s my deco! I scour the internet for inspiration then fly by the seats of my pants. :)
THAT’S MY DECO!
I usually fly by the seat of my pants and plan the room around 1 particular item. If I were to win, I LOVE those tree glasses!
That’s my deco! I totally fly by the seat of my pants. I’ll decide on a whim what the next project is and I typically start right away! If I had $300 from my deco, I’d be buying some fun wall art to help spruce up my freshly painted walls!
That’s my deco!
I do a ton of research before starting the room overhaul…unless I come across something I just can’t resist!
That’s my deco!
I like to rip things out of magazines, take cell phone pictures of places that inspire me, and bring my friend’s shirt to Ace Hardware to color match it to paint for my guest bedroom :).
I would looove to fix up my kitchen with $300!
That’s My Deco! I am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl when it comes to decorating, but I always look at magazines and blogs like yours when I need inspiration on how to arrange things.
THAT’S MY DECO!
I’m always looking at websites (and blogs like your’s) for inspiration!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I wish I was more of a planner, but it typically is an ever evolving process based on what I find and love enough to take home with me :)
That’s my deco!
I’d say I fly by the seat of my pants, but it’s not really as much of a flight as it is a slow crawl :)
That’s my deco!!!
I fly by the seat of my pants. I’m thinking of collecting pics that inspire me and organizing them somehow, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. no big surprise there since we’ve been in our house for almost 4 years and have hung up a grand total of 3 pictures on the walls.
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I gather inspiration from the Internet, magazines, hgtv, and I usually build a room slowly over time with one piece as my main deco anchor.
That’s my deco!
I usually just sit and think and hope that creative thoughts will flow into the empty vacuum that is my idea bank. Not always the most productive or successful strategy!
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I rely on DIY blogs, magazines and mood boards!
THAT’S MY DECO!
When decorating (or redecorateing) I “try” to pick one thing that I LOVE and let everything else fall into place. It’s easy to get caught up in a bunch of different ideas, but it will all look jumbled.
The $300 will definitely go towards more “updating” that our apartment needs. We moved in and had a bunch of hand-me-downs that we really can’t do anything with, but can’t really afford to replace!
“THAT’S MY DECO!”
I search through catalogs and the internet to get an feel for what I like and the main ideas that keep popping up. I also carry my paint swatches around to make sure items will flow…nerd alert!!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I definitely fly by the seat of my pants. Mostly I just look at paint chips until I can picture it in my mind and it just clicks! This process makes my husband a bit crazy as he is more of a visual/mood board, rip out magazine pages kind of person.
I think I’d spend the $300 on more lighting! Something funky and green for the guest room or something not ugly to replace the ceiling fan in our room.
That’s my deco
that’s my deco! i scour my favorite blogs, design mags, and use pinterest to create inspiration boards.
thats my deco… i would love this… i always fly by the seat of my pants and it doesnt always work!
THAT’S MY DECO
I make collages! I will use the money to help decorate our new house. We move in next Monday and could really use help with decorating!!!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I’m not much of an organized planner – I start one piece at a time and add as I go. Would love to win to put towards a rug for our bedroom :)
That’s My Deco!
I fly by the seat of my pants. I use what I have, what others have given me, and find things for a deal! Then I hope it comes together at some point!
THAT’S MY DECO!
THAT’S MY DECO!!!! I love scouring magazines for design inspiration. I’ve got a binder full of ideas! I would use the $300 toward decorating our decoration-free living room. It’s the only room in the house that we haven’t love on yet!
That’s my deco!
I browse magazines and clip inspiration photos and keep a digital folder on my computer with images from the internet. I’m working on my formal living room, so I would purchase items for that room!
THAT’S MY DECO! I’m terrible at decorating with a plan. I tend to accumulate things and try to make them work!
That’s my Deco!!
I usually find one or two pieces and go from there. I like one color to really pop in each room!
That’s My Deco
I keep a file of inspiration pics on my computer. I usually pic my colors for the room first and go from there. I think a room looks best if it is built overtime with pieces you love.
THAT’S MY DECO!
I look for inspiration everywhere. Especially in tiny nik-nacks and colors!
THAT’S MY DECO!
That’s my deco!
I usually start out with a couple favorite pieces and decorate the room from there… usually free/cheap items find their way in the easiest!
That’s my deco!
I LOVE decorating!!!
That’s my deco
I’m definitely a fly by the seat of my pants kind of gal!
MY DECO! I am usually inspired by one thing and build my room around it with colors and textures. I am currently freshening up my full house and could use some new accents.
That’s my deco!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I usually have a vague overall look/feel/color scheme that I’m going for and then find items piece by piece and see how it turns out…sometimes not at all how I pictured it in my head, but that’s part of the fun!
That’s my deco! I usually use one or two favorite items as an inspiration for the rest of the room. It’s fun to look back and see how everything evolves during the decorating process.
THAT’s MY DECO!!!
My husband and I are in the process of moving into our first home over the next month or so. I don’t know what I’d buy, but I’d love to have the giftcard to help decorate our new space!
Thats my deco! I collect magazine cuttings and internet articles that I keep in a binder for inspiration usually. Though sometimes its been a piece of fabric that has started a project.
THAT’S MY DECO! I totally just fly by the seat of my pants. If I like it, it comes home with me.
THAT’S MY DECO!
I use mood boards to plan, and take fabric swatches and paint chips around with me when I shop.
That’s my deco!
I like to start with an inspiration piece that i can base everything else off of, like a pillow or a fun piece of fabric. Then I draw up a floor plan so i know exactly how much space I’m dealing with and what can and can not fit! If i win, i’m definitely using the $300 to start decorating our baby’s room… we just found out she’s a GIRL this week, so i’m so eager to get started, so that’ll help me a LOT!
THAT’S MY DECO!!!
I use sectioned binders to organize ideas and inspiration room-by-room.
that’s my deco!! I use my favorite songs as inspiration.
