Fab Freebie: Deco-rating Help
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – look below to see who won!***
The winner of the $300 gift card toward the MyDeco Boutique as selected by random.org is… Beth-BTW (who uses virtual mood boards sometimes, but usually flies by the seat of her pants when it comes to decor planning). Congrats!
This week’s prize comes from mydeco.com, a site that helps you design a space you’ll love in many ways. For starters, they catalog products from hundreds of retailers in one search-able spot. But they go above and beyond too: allowing you to create mood boards, collect your favorite items in online folders, and even virtually decorate your home in 3D using thousands of finishes and materials. Oh, and most importantly this week, they’re helping one of you with $300 (!!) to spend in the mydeco boutique – a hand-picked collection of designer items, like these below:
- PRIZE: A $300 gift card toward the MyDeco Boutique
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “THAT’S MY DECO!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … share what techniques you use when planning to decorate a space. Do you rely on some of these tools like mood boards, inspiration folders, or virtual room planners? Or do you fly by the seat of your pants a bit more? (Oh, and we’d love to know what you might spend that $300 on if you were to win too!)
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from mydeco.com.

That’s My Deco!
I am more of a fly by the seat of my pants kinda gal. Usually it starts with a wall colour and then grows from there.
That My Deco!
I like to browse the web for color ideas, but I mostly decide by the “feeling” I want the room to have. I would love $300 to spend on cool lamps and accessories for my new place!
That’s My Deco!
My husband and I love to recreate spaces in our home too. We usually start with one piece of inspiration, be it a photograph, patterned pillow, or lamp and then we move from there. We would LOVE to continue redesigning our home with the help of $300!
Thats My Deco! Our home office is filled with moodboards and i just found an app last week for moodboards which I am in love with.
That’s My Deco!!!

That’s My Deco!
I decorate as I find things I love and that mean something to me or my family. I figure that translates to my style. After reading this article, I discovered mood boards, and I made three for myself. I love the idea! It helps me see what I love together.
THAT’S MY DECO
i’m more of an inspiration folder kinda gal… if there’s a look i love, i wanna go for it!
That’s my deco! I totally fly by the seat of my pants, but I do surf the Internet obsessively sometimes. I need lamps!
That’s my Deco…YHL…of course!!!
THAT’S MY DECO! I pick colors and then fly by the seat of my pants! :)
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I usually go with a color scheme and try to do my own “mood board” but they never come out as cool as the ones ya’ll did!!! :o)
That’s DEF my Deco!
THAT’S MY DECO!!
I start with a favorite thing and build from there – like a rug or decorative item.
THATS MY DECO! I am currently redoing our office and even though I am gathering inspiration photos I am moving one step at a time – I like to see the pieces as they come together and make sure they fit well together!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I just graduated from school so my decorating style is taking whatever free items are given to me!!
That’s my deco!! I mostly keep ideas in my head. I always think I’m going to do a folder or binder to keep ideas in but I never get around to it. As far as what I’d buy if I won, I don’t really know yet. Probably accessories like frames and art and pillows.
THAT’S MY DECO! I am a total fly by the seat of my pants decorator. I usually buy antiques, and fit them in or i have been known to plan an entire room around one… like my dressing room is entriely decorated around a Mark Ryden painting I was given as a birthday present.
I have to have the Alphaville Design Julieta Chandelier… like today!
THAT’S MY DECO!! When I plan for a room I usually collect magazine pages and search the internet for inspiration.
that’s my deco and I usually fly by the seat of my pants. We’re poor college students and would never be able to do a whole room at the same time, so I just snag things up over time. but I think it turns out best that way!

THAT’S MY DECO!!
I just mix and match and add things to rooms as I find things that I like!
THAT’S MY DECO!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I’m a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl. Sometimes I spend a lot of time thinking about how things will look, but i usually end up not sticking to any plan I’ve made. I go by the “if I love it, it’ll go in my house” kind of mentality.
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I always save my inspiration pics and favorite home decorating blogs in online folders. If I won the $300, I would probably put it towards accessories for my family room.
THAT’S MY DECO!
I have a bulletin board where I rip out pictures from magazines and catalogs and tack them up to remember. I also bookmark a ton of sites.
THAT’S MY DECO…i generally will hit up the library and i tear things out of magazines that i like and keep in a folder
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I normally just find a couple pieces that I really love (bonus points if I already own them)and then decorate around that. So I guess I do a mood board in my head.
THAT’S MY DECO!
THAT’S MY DECO!!!
My decorating style is one of constant flux. I love to take what I’ve got and move things around to see if they would work better in a different arrangement. And I love to sketch ideas out on paper whenever ideas hit me.
THAT’S MY DECO! I usually just stare into the room from many different angels for a long, long time. Then, I make a decision, and just go for it.
“THAT’S MY DECO!”
When I’m going to decorate a room, I normally start by inspiration rooms, to determine theme, color, and feel. Then I do a little floor plan and start looking for pieces. Your website and all your mood board are HUGE inspiration :)
I would definitely get accessories that are lacking!
I like to look at picture after picture to get ideas for colors, textures, and diy projects to jazz up my rooms :)
THAT’S MY DECO!
I turn to Pottery Barn and YHL (of course!) and throw in some fly by the seat of my pants for good measure when decorating. I’m in desperate need of lamps!
“THAT’S MY DECO!” I like finding one piece or one color that I love and then building a room around that!! It would be a great help to have this give away as my husband and I just moved into our first home and it is in need of renovation and decoration!!!
OOPS-forgot to post that I get my decor from other rooms and I rearrange over and over until I get it right-I love eclectic styles!
That’s My Deco! I use graph paper and totally rearrange things all the time until I get the best fit!
That’s my deco! Planning? Who needs planning? :) I usually pick out one piece that inspires me, and build the rest of the space around that item. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but that’s what receipts are for, right?
I’m pining for the Prince Daniel of Stockholm print. Being Scandinavian myself, I can’t resist infusing some Swedish pride into my decor (although my plethora of IKEA furnishings probably already has the Swedish thing covered!)
That’s my deco!
I have colors that I favor and then find something I like. If my husband likes it too and it’s affordable, we’ll use it. Our aesthetic is function over form (though looking good while we’re at it is a goal also).
That’s my deco!! I do a lot reseach, read a lot of blogs, but then sort of fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to pulling the trigger – hoping that I’ve learned something along the way. Need lots of pillows….
THAT’S MY DECO! I’ve started keeping a folder of images that inspire me. We’re moving past the toddler years here with our youngest, and are finally at a point where we can decorate with what we truly love! I love finding little things that catch my attention and finding a home for them in our house.
THAT’S MY DECO! I like to plan ahead and consider this blog some of my most important “research” Love you guys!!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I love your blog for inspiration, but I’m in a total funk right now. I can’t find anything that I think I’m looking for and once I make up my mind I end up not liking it.
That’s my Deco and I need a plan! I am always thinking I like one particular style, color, etc and then when it’s all done, I find something else I like better. I drive my husband crazy….
That’s my deco!!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I use inspiration folders and color scheme. Your site also gives me lots of inspiration!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I use a combo of inspiration boards, magazines & home decor blogs to draw ideas from and then of course the occasional fly by the seat of my pants idea.
We’re prepping our house to put it on the market in May so this is the perfect giveaway.
“THAT’S MY DECO!”
I have no decorating skillz to speak of. I’m just trying to get a handle on putting some order to my place right now.
THAT’S MY DECO!
I typically dream about a room, like, I literally dream about it. Then I have to wake up in the middle of the night, write down what I remember “seeing” and then it is a matter of finding it. I also keep an inspiration binder.
That’s my deco!
I build virtual rooms and mood boards using Photoshop and I scour hundreds of inspiration photos, then I spend months agonizing over it before I ever do anything! I had about 40 kitchen variations before our renovation.
THAT’S MY DECO!
THAT’S MY DECO!
I just like searching for random things that I love.
THAT’S MY DECO! I think the mood board would be great but I usually just find one thing I like and go from there.
That’s my deco!
THAT’S MY DECO!
Usually just wing it! I’m always keeping an eye out for interesting pieces.
That’s MYDECO!
I manage to plan obsessively and still fly by the seat of my pants. Double the stress! I need help.
that’s my deco!!!!
i usually buy a few items to try them out in the space- and then return the ones that don’t work!
That’s my deco! I scour the internet for inspiration and then take baby steps. We’ve been in our ‘new’ house for over a year now, and I just bought the first lamp for the formal living room (no overhead lighting either)! If I won, it would have to be more lighting for me!
