Channeling Queen Latifah And Jet Li

We’ve got a few projects in progress over here, so until we have something to show for them we thought we’d share this quirky little quiz. And just to be clear, I’m the one channeling Queen Latifah and Sherry’s got Jet Li.
Yep, it’s another scientifically proven quiz that promises to help you pin down your decorating essence (like all of these that have come before it). Though this one scores a few bonus points for being almost entirely visual, which means you get to enjoy some eye candy slash inspiration while it’s diagnosing your brainwaves.
Although not many people would consider this next question’s visuals as “eye candy.” Instead, I like to call this the “Which Village Person are you?” question.
In the end, the results aren’t terribly accurate or helpful, but they’re still fun nonetheless. I was pinned as “Winsome Charm”… which I’m not quite sure what to do with, except maybe take it as a compliment (so… they’re saying I’m charming?).
The best part of the results are by far the celebrities that they believe to be your style equivalents. This is where Queen Latifah comes in for me, along with Tom Hanks and Robert Redford (again, can I take this a compliment?).
Sherry, on the other hand, somehow turned up as “Asian Bauhaus” and got results that claim she likes to “cook grand meals” and is “never clumsy.” Both of which I assure you are hilariously untrue. She also got a list of celebrity comparisons consisting of Jet Li, Chow Yun-Fat, and Madonna. Which elicited some snort laughs from the wife (which only happen when she’s really really entertained).
Results aside, feel free to have some fun and kill some time taking the quiz yourself. We’d love to hear your results (especially your celebrity equivalents) and how spot on (or far off) they were.
Psst- We weren’t paid or perk’d to share this quiz, we just thought it was thoroughly entertaining. I mean what guy doesn’t LOL when his wife is compared to Chow Yun-Fat?

Maybe I’m biased b/c my husband is 6’6 and has a tall family but a 200 lb weight limit is kinda low. Lots of people are 200 lb+….

Yup, we’re working on planning that and also hanging some art above the sofa in the living room. So many blank walls to hole-up, haha!

Even though their server is having issues, I’ve taken this one before and got Unpretentious Bon Vivant. The celebs are Coco Chanel, Cary Grant, and John Lennon. The descriptions are tailored to each individual choice you make. Even when you have the same general outcome, the text will be different if you selected different pics. For me, the results are pretty accurate since my style is not fussy…casual and fairly classic.

I took the quiz last week, but I’m wondering… what do you do with it? They don’t give any pictures or concrete examples of what your style means… and the names for the styles are kind of clunky. If you are not really familiar with design, I don’t know that this quiz will help you pin anything down. I was a bit disappointed.
Yeah, you’re right. It would have been nice if they showed a gallery of rooms that might be your style, or even links to specific items you might love!

Apparently my style in “Colonial Rennaissance” and my celebrity matches were Jackie Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Kristin Scott Thomas. The description said complimentary things like “graceful living”, “your style has its own vocabulary”, and “pre-war, upper east side attitude”. I do love the style of our First Ladies, and I’m a huge nerd for American history, so I wasn’t too disappointed. As it predicted, I do tend to have champagne taste, but I also have that pesky beer budget.

Sometimes home improvement stuff takes longer than you’d expect (go figure!) and things are still in progress. That’s what happens with real-time blog posting… there are no guarantees. All my projects get derailed or take longer than planned…I can only imagine SOME of John and Sherry’s do too. Give them a break. They said they painted their first kitchen cabinets in a matter of days (or a single day?) And last night I am done and it took almost 2 weeks. The difference? Theirs was done before they had Clara. I have 3 kids and a busy life. Stuff happens.

Ohh Ina Garten hands down. I would like to share style with her. I would also like to roll around in joy on her kitchen floor after mowing down all of her homemade deliciousness. I’m sure she would appreciate the gesture and consider it nothing but classy.
