Some Love
It’s time for our monthly shout out to thank our sponsors for making the other 35+ posts possible and keeping food (and little candy hearts) on the table. And instead of just listing everyone, we like to pick something from each of them that makes us smile/drool/inspired/happy. Not that we’ve been gifted any of these things ourselves (see our no-swag policy here) but we did have fun trolling their sites on a virtual v-day shopping spree of sorts. Here are all of our lovey-dovey finds. And as usual, there’s a little something extra in it for you (you know we heart you guys) so scroll down for some pretty sweet reader discounts. Here’s what we’re loving:

Awww you two are adorable. Thanks for the great valentine’s day ideas!
AWWWW! He’s a keeper :)
aww, sherry, you lucky girl!
Last year I got something for my wifey from Lisa Leonard. She loves it!
You guys take the best ‘self’ pictures ever! We never look cute in ours so we’ve given up. Though I have a friend with long arms who is excellent at it :)
Haha that’s totally the key. John’s insanely long arms make all the difference. If I were holding the camera it would be just a pic of our mouths or something.

The screen on my camera is flippable so you can see yourself before you take the picture. One of my favourite things about it (It’s a canon g11, and actually, the whole camera is my favourite thing about it!)
Awww so sweet!
Your second Cardboard Safari link (not the image, the bullet one) actually goes to a different website…just FYI!
Thanks for the heads up! All fixed!

Could you someday do a post (or send me a message) about how this whole process works on your sponsers, being paid for your posts, etc? I find it very interesting (and amazing!) and it seems like you all would be the one blog that would actually explain how it all works. How do you even start to sign up for sponsers or get more people to read your blog, etc?? I have about 1,000 questions! If you have time, I would love any sort of tutorial! Thanks! LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!!
Kate
If you click on our contact page (see the link next to our smiling faces on the sidebar?) we have a bullet devoted to how our blog baby grew and lots of behind the scenes info. Long story short we just wrote for years and slowly our readership grew thanks to old fashioned hard work and some dumb luck!
We actually don’t accept payment for posts or take swag, so our sidebar sponsors and this one clearly marked shout out post a month keep our blog going (along with side gigs writing columns for magazines like DIY and BabyCenter). We actually just put a sidebar button up saying “want to sponsor us?” to get sponsors after working really hard to grow our traffic since we don’t want to hunt people down or annoy them asking about sponsoring us. It’s awkward to ask so we just concentrate on writing the blog and take things as they come. It’s been a crazy journey and we never knew it could be a full time job but there’s nothing we’d rather be doing! Our readers and sponsors amaze us on a daily basis. Love you guys!

I let out an audible AWWWWW at that last shout out. So stinkin’ sweet.
Happy Early Valentines Day! I just love your blog! Hope you visit my food blog sometime!

I love the cardboard safari hearts. So cute!
just noticed john’s lovely final comment directed to the “love of his life” followed by “Happy V-Day!” — that last phrase reminded me of a story from long, long ago — I went to a grammar school where the rule was that if you wanted to hand out valentines at school, you had to include every one of your classmates (a nice rule) — well, my best friend, tiring of writing “happy valentine’s day” on so many cards, started writing “happy VD!” — it was totally innocent on her part but the nuns were NOT pleased!
Hahahahaha. Love it!

I am totally getting a Frame the Date thing for our anniversary – as soon as I decide which picture to use, awesome!
Oh yeah, and I’m getting a Simply Baby print for our girl’s nursery since she will be here next month. My husband won’t thank you for these two purchases but I will! Yay! Happy almost V Day!
I was all excited to tell you that I fell in love with that watermelon rug from Shades of Light, and went and ordered the 4 x 6 size. (I don’t know how I missed that, I am always browsing their site! And have been looking for that color of rug for months) But then when I come back to post my comment, I see I totally missed the discount part of the post! Just my luck. Oh well, I still love it, and can’t wait to get it.
Oh no! Maybe try emailing or calling to see if they’ll honor it and refund you that portion? Can’t hurt to ask! Good luck. And so glad you found the watermelon rug of your dreams! She’s a beaut for sure.

Just wanted to let you know that every time I visit your site, that gorgeous aqua bedding from Z Gallerie makes me swoon.
