Somebody’s Watching Me
Something about the knobs in our kitchen make us feel like we’re being watched.

Maybe you don’t see it, but after staring at them for the last few weeks, they’re starting to look a little something like this to us:

My favorite is the pirate.
But something’s definitely going to have to be done sooner or later. We feel like we’re living in that crazy Geico commercial – only without the good fortune of a stack of money sitting nearby (with some techno music blaring in the background). Speaking of which, we highly recommend playing the Geico commercial below while looking at the picture above. It really enhances the whole experience.
Now we can’t eat breakfast without singing “Somebody’s watching meeeeeeee.”

So true!!
BTW, at first I thought YOU had captioned that video. Funny how I “know” you well enough to quickly realize it wasn’t. Unless there’s a side of you we don’t know…
Haha, nope, that wasn’t us. But we have played that video on repeat for about ten hours.

Totally off topic, but thought you guys might enjoy this project for Clara:

So cute! Love it! Thanks for sharing the link.

So sad that you call this the Geico song! This is such a classic/hilarious 80′s tune by Rockwell (son of Barry Gordy) with chorus sung by Michael Jackson. Plus, the original video is basically a house tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YvAYIJSSZY.
No way! We love house tours. How fitting. Haha.

I even got my husband to read this post :) Too funny! We both cracked up!
Ha! I guess you’re keeping us in suspense over new hardware?! Good luck with the creepy knobs!
xoxo

Nope, no new hardware yet. Someday, though! Just thought we’d share what we giggle about every morning over cereal. Hah.

Haha, I feel like I see faces in every day things all the time!
You guys are awesome!!
I thought the snake was a dinosaur til I read the comments. Either way it’s my favorite :)
That is so funny, and when I read it, I see it too! I love reading your blog! Thanks for sharing, the helpful tips and laughs!! Never take yourself too serious, or at least that’s my motto! ;) (and I will definately be watching you guys too!!)
We had the same knobs and just switched them out.
Hi John and Sherry! So it’s Saturday around 7EST and and I was getting ready to browse around houzz.com. Michelle Hinckley’s blog, Three Men and A Lady, one that I check regularly, is one of the featured Ideabooks. As pictures from her blog are flashing by, what should I see pinned to a beautiful bulletin board she created but a picture of your old master bedroom! I doubled checked, just to be sure, and there it was, you old room!! A blog in a blog in a blog!!! I just thought that was cool!
That’s so cool! Love it!

I have the same knobs on my drawer and actually like them – but there are just four of them :)
Oh, and this song might be an alternative if the geico song ever gets boring:
Hahaha, that works too.

Very funny now when I look at the first picture again I am seeing all the faces.
Hey j & s, after dancing to your song all weekend I thought I’d share one with you! You might be sesame street watchers with Clara so you might already know this song, but if not, here’s one we love:
She loves it!

Just found your blog. You guys are too adorable! Love your new home!
Yeah, all those ‘eyes’ are enough to spark some paranoia! I’m so happy to hear that we aren’t the only ones with “boob” lights in our place. We have two in the entry way and they are so, so wrong. And, yet, we haven’t done anything about the “twins” yet.
Do you find yourself hiding behind the milk carton to get away from the prying eyes ;)
We face Clara’s chair away from them so she doesn’t get scared. Haha.

Haha! Now that you point it out I can’t look at the first photo without cracking up!
I just discovered your blog by blog surfing and I just have to say… I LOVE your blog!! I’m very inspired by the clean, flowing looks you have and the creativity paired with frugality that appeals so much to me! I’ve probably spent half my day browsing your site and will be back again and again!
HAHA! Oh me. Those commercials are a hoot…
Much love,

I must say this is the first blog post I have ever read
that has me laughing out loud! SO hilarious…
bahahaha that’s really funny!
that kitchen is so ugly, and clearly not your style, because it’s nothing like the last house! Don’t waste money on new knobs before you rip that awful oak out. :P
p.s. what you did with your dining room shelves is a beautiful idea, i just never commented before!
Too funny!
Trina
LOL! Too funny! Congrats on the new house. I can’t wait to see what you turn it into.
Hilarious!
The door knob of your cabinets looked like they are staring your every move and everywhere you go! Eyes everywhere. Maybe a change of color will make it look different.:
Today, as I was washing the dishes, I looked over and saw two eyeballs staring at me. Then I looked the other way, and I saw one eyeball and thought of the pirate. As if on cue, the music in my head started playing, “I always feel like somebody’s watching meeee…”
Yep, I have the same knobs. They’re on the cabinets I hate in the kitchen I loathe (primarily due to the rooster/chicken themed border, with matching wallpaper that looks like it’s moving if you stare at it too long). One day those stinkin’ chickens are coming down!
In the meantime, I have something new to obsess over in my kitchen. :)
u guys r hilarious!!
