So Thankful It’s Scary
You guys know that we like to take a moment each month to thank our sponsors (you know, the people who help keep our site up and running… and make the other 40+ posts possible). But this month we’re getting Missy Elliott on you. Aka: putting our thing down, flipping it, and reversing it (read: trying something different). Instead of just naming them and generally dropping a quick description of their company as a whole, we’re giving you a snapshot of one thing that we’re loving from each of them (in quick thumbnail and bullet form). Call it getting a bit more personal if you will. And doing a little virtual window shopping, which we’re always down for.
Oh and at the very bottom of this post we’ve also collected all of the discounts they’re offering into one quick spot, so you can scroll down to save some loot. You might just find a picture of Burger worked in there too- you know, just for good measure.

Love Burger and his foot phone, LOL!
Gotta love a Missy Elliot reference first thing in the morning!
Oh I love that Sarah & Abraham plate. I know what I’m getting my little niece for Christmas now!
I think this was an excellent way to show off your sponsors..usually I browse but I don’t usually pay attention..now I’m looking them up and actually getting to know their products!
Who was burger on the phone to?
He was probably calling Dominoes. The boy’s big dream is to somehow procure a pizza.

Thanks for leading me to BULX. Just bought that Black and Decker food processor they have advertised and got it for a GREAT price thanks to their $20 off promo!
Much better layout!!!
Did not know about the $20 off bulx with your code, even though I was introduced to bulx by your site. Just scored a white jute rug for $7 (11.95 including shipping)!! Thanks to both you and your lovely sponsors!
Love the new layout and the highlighting of “juicy discounts” at the end! I think you introduced Bulx on your FB page awhile ago? I’ve been watching their sales, but had yet to give into temptation until right now… The discount sealed the deal! (And somehow I had missed the kitchen basics sale.) My 20-year-old B&D food processor just bit the dust, so I don’t think the timing could have been more perfect. Thanks for helping to score an awesome deal! (No baby food here… just yummy hummus and dog/cat food for my sick or underage fosters.)
Loving the layout and photoshop overlays. I am just starting to learn photoshop with the help of the Fiance and the overlays look like a lot of fun.
I must talk to this Burger character you speak of. I’ve been meaning to get a foot phone for a while now!
I really like this new layout.
And thanks so much for the heads-up and discount at BULX. My crockpot died this week and I love $20 off to replace it!
Love the links! Great for Christmas ideas…who wouldn’t love tile membrane under the tree?
Burger sort of looks like a bat in that photo – maybe he is calling Robin?
Foot phone, love it!
And another thing – Burger’s foot phone reminds me of the old “Bananaphone” song by Raffi
An oldie but a goodie, no doubt.

Love the new format! This is the first time that I’ve actually read through all the links and clicked a few.
Love the Burger pic, and now I will have the banana phone song stuck in my head all day.
I LOVE redletterwords.com. They did an awesome print for me for my baby’s room.

This is such a great change! I clicked on almost every link- way to show off your sponsors!
You guys do, by the way, have quite a nice collection of sponsors. And I don’t say that lightly. Your website is LITERALLY the only one that I allow ads for, and the reason for that is that you seem to have great sponsors. So I actually feel like I’m missing out on something if I block them.
(and now I’ll go run and hide while people come to beat me with a stick for blocking everyone else’s ads – eek!)
Aw thanks Lindsay! That’s a mighty fine compliment indeed. We try to work with people who we personally like (and actually do turn away companies and products that we don’t think will go over well).

NooooooOOOOOooooo – the food processor is sold out
Oh no! Here’s hoping they restock or bring it back!

John, your musical “references” crack me up. Every time.
I find myself searching your posts for them. Then I find one and sing said song for the remainder of the day.
Hee! Babyburgerphone! Love!
Love your intuition…your sponsers should thank you! I was one of those daily readers who kind of just skimmed the thank-you sponser posts, but the thumbnails and descriptions made me want to take a closer look-way to bring the eye candy :)
Also, I had grown to love the two posts a day but I really love the less-structured change! It seems refreshing and a bit more ‘real’. How do you like it? Do you dig the freedom? Does it ever make you nervous not to have the security of scheduled posts, or weeks of posts waiting to go in the queue?
We love the new freedom and spur of the moment fun! There’s no going back now…

“This pic of baby Burger making a call on his foot phone.” Cutest sentence I’ve read in a long time!! Thanks! :)
this is so much better–i actually went to their sites this time ;)
i love your product idea blog. i think its much better than just telling us about sponsers. i have already looked up two of the items you listed…thanks for the ideas!

I’m new to you guys and I LOVE your style!!! I am dying to know, how to you keep things so neat, clean, and simple? I have well-meaning family and friends that keep saddling me with knock-knacks and decor items that are away from my aesthetic. How do you get away from this? Any advice?
He’s from West Elm a few years ago. Maybe try eBay? Good luck!

We generally are lucky enough that many relatives and friends know that we have the home decor thing covered (thanks to this blog) so we don’t get many unsolicited items like that. But when we do we sincerely thank the giftee and either donate it or store it out of sight until they come over (and then donate it). We just figure life is too short to keep things out of guilt and our house is too small to fill with things that we don’t love!

Love that little fellow, the one sleeping away. I had a little poodle that slept all day under the covers. We just made the bed on top of her. Smile
