Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ‘em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.
If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.
Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.
If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.
Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):
- PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Pony Up!
We have 4 dogs and each has their own bag of tricks although none would wow anyone other than their proud parents! We think they’re great!
PONY UP!
The only trick my beagles can do is eat tremendous amounts of food!
PONY UP! My dog sings ‘I love youuu’ but you have to get her going by singing it first! These paintings are precious! As a big time animal lover, this story really touched my heart!
Pony Up
My Dad had a one legged chicken who followed him to the bus every morning and greeted him every afternoon. Weird, but pretty cool!!
PONY UP!
Ponies are my favourite animals but I have had cats and dogs only. My cat used to lift its paw to say hi :)
PONY UP!! Being from MD this would be an awesome addition to our home!
As for the bonus question, I love the video of the water-skiing squirrel. Too funny!
PONY UP! Our 9mo puppy has learned many tricks, including ripping the newspaper to shreds before I get a chance to finish reading it and the toliet paper game as we’ve started calling it-running through the house with toliet paper from the whole roll trailing behind her- such a joy to clean up!
PONY UP!!

PONY UP!
I don’t have any pets, but my cousins have a small dog and they always try to make him dance, and he never complains, he’s so good and patient. That dog is a saint, really.
PONY UP
My parents’ dog will go get his towel for you to dry him off when he gets out of the pool…pretty cute!
:)
PONY UP
My cat rides on my dog’s back…its positively ridiculous but they both seem to love it!
PONY UP!
I saw a woman walk up her driveway with her dog, then point to the end of the driveway, release the dog from the leash and then the dog trotted down the driveway, picked up the morning newspaper and padded back to the front door with tail wagging. Much better than anything my two pups can do!
PONY UP!
One of my dogs could be a world-class digger. The other has some horrendous facination with ripping out sod. Between the two, our yard has seen better days!
PONY UP
The cat I used to own didn’t do tricks that anyone would want to line up for but I did use to love that he would play “fetch” with small rubber bouncy balls. He would carry them along my apartment in his teeth so I could throw them again for him to scramble after. He did the same with my hair elastics which while adorable was less appreciated when I couldn’t find any in the morning.
PONY UP!!!
This is just truly amazing!
Side note.. I found a video on youtube of a dog dancing merengue. Now the funny part is, it’s a full blown dancing routine. Really great!
Pony Up…. My favorite trick i have ever seen was one my 1st horse did… His name was smokey and i was 10 when i got him…. His previous owners had taught this 10 year old fella a few tricks….He could bow, he could rear on command, and he could actually open the stall doors (something i wish they hadn’t taught him…LOL)… But my favorite trick was “find the carrot….” I would place a carrot or treat under my hat, in my pockets of my jeans or jackets and say ‘Smokey, Find the carrot….’ and he would sniff you all over looking for it til he found it… and he was very gentle about it, NEVER nipping or biting…All my friends were amazed that he would do this and was so gentl about it…:)
PONY UP!
My friend’s springer spaniel, Charlie, carefully “opening” all the wrapping paper on their Christmas presents! Seriously, he tears everything off without damaging the presents at all!
PONY UP!
Does a corgi rolling over count?
Pony Up
I’m not sure I’ve ever met an uber talented animal! I’m stumped!
PONY UP
I am partial to the tricks my puppy has learned…break out the treats and she is giving high fives, making a “sad puppy” face, or rolling onto her back when you say “bang”. ; )
PONY UP!!!
Those painting are awesome, wish I could teach me cat to do this since she’s already got a knack for dunking her paws in things (ex: litter box, spaghetti bowls, potted plants etc) and trailing it around….
Here’s and interesting video about trained monkeys that’s got me thinking about what other things they can possibly be trained to do (I’ve got a couple things on my ‘to-do’ list that could use the help from a monkey or four): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEpJf5-IYwM&feature=related
PONY UP
My pup likes to stick his muzzle into cushion cracks at bark himself silly.
PONY UP!!!
My cat loves to play fetch with a balled up post it note!
PONY UP!!
I seriously “need” this for my oldest daughter who is horse crazy! As far as pet tricks go, our precious dog passed away in July this year, but when he was little, his favorite thing to do was to crawl in bed in between us, under the covers & his head on the pillow. Not really a trick, but fun anyway! We really miss him!
PONY UP!
I trained a horse who would “hum” when he was relaxed! :)
Pony Up! (How cool is this prize?)
I was at Harborfest in Norfolk, VA this past summer and saw the Tidewater Dock Dogs perform. They were a hoot! The just take a flying leap off a dock into a pool and seem to be having a blast.
PONY UP!!
My dog, Cooper, knows when you say tummy sticks to roll over on his back so you can give him a good rub. Tummy sticks really isn’t an appropriate word (wedding crashers) but he loves it!
PONY UP!
My dog Houdini can escape from any fence. It’s ridiculous. We’ll come home and Lola will be barking like a maniac because Houdini’s been running around the big yard while she’s stuck in the smaller dog yard!
“PONY UP”
Pony Up! Our bad little puppy Julep can high five during a football game with the best of em!
PONY UP
PONY UP!
I have a cat who plays fetch. :)

Love this weeks giveaway! I love skateboarding bulldogs, they are so freaking cute!!
PONY UP!
PONY UP!
Lucy, my labradoodle, has lifted an un-lidded tuperware full of dry rice off the counter and carried it across the room without spilling a grain… ‘i’m not even mad at you, i’m just impressed’ :)
Pony Up!
I have a russian dwarf hamster which I think belongs to the circus!
He is so entertaining, running on top of his hamster wheel and he must have biceps of steel by all is cliff hanger stints – doing monkey bars in his cage(I guess he would look like Jonny Bravo)Hammie really moves along. Its never a dull moment. He is so cute!
PONY UP!
My son would love this. He was telling me a couple of weeks ago that he wanted a picture that the elephants at the zoo paint!
As for amazing pets, this cat is hilarious to watch! I could eat him up!
PONY UP!
One day when I was leaving for school I noticed my Lovebird, Tweety, somehow flew away. I was devastated and told all my friends at school. They told me that a bird had landed on someone in PE class. So I asked my gym teacher and he called the student to the office who proceeded to call her stepmom. The mom came to school WITH MY BIRD! So my little Tweety few several miles to land on a girl with curly brown hair just like me! He was the best most loyal pet ever!
Pony Up!
Love the waterskiing squirrel on youtube!
Thanks for another great giveaway YHL! Would love to have this in our soon to be new home!
Pony Up!
We used to have a horse named Five that would always untie himself and open gates! We always had to make sure everything was double knotted!
Pony up!
My dog gives hugs on command. You say “big hug” and he puts both paws on your shoulders. It’s the sweetest thing :)
Pony up!
Our lab has an automatic
Ball launcher that he plays with all day long.
Pony up!!!
I love all the dogs that bark “I love you” and “I love you mama” I wish I could get my two to do that!
Pony up!
Talking animals on YouTube make me giggle.
PONY UP!
This is absolutely adorable! As an animal lover, I would be thrilled to win this week’s fab freebie.
My own pets never cease to amaze me. From somersaults in the grass to flying acrobatics, I have a crazy dog-and-cat show every night!
PONY UP
Our finch learned the sound that we make when filling his feed so when he’s running low he bangs on the cage to make the same sound. We purposely let it get a little low just to watch him ask for more, he’s so cute!
PONY UP!
I love this giveaway!! My lovely dog can do some pretty cool tricks. He knows how to turn the lights on and off, he will play dead when we kill him with the Avada Kedavra curse, and my husband is particularly proud that he can “pound it.”
PONY UP
Three words: Water skiing. Squirrel. Absolutely amazing :)
