Burning Question: Neutral Or Not?
We know this question is sure to stir things up around here. This week’s query is all about wall color. Do you prefer a stark and clean gallery-ish white? Something soft and neutral? Something bold and enveloping? Or do you like a mix of hues (both soft and saturated)?

We’re excited to hear where you stand on the issue. In fact, we whipped up this handy little poll to keep everything tabulated:
[poll id="21"]
We’d love to hear more about why you voted the way you did, so feel free to comment away with more details.

I’ve taken my cues from the rooms themselves and how we live in them.
BEDROOM: Sanctuary. Very much like yours, actually – pale blue and white, with a few pale green accents. Trying to get it ever-paler and dreamier.
DINING ROOM: Classy and calm. Painted the walls the same pale misty grey-blue as the edges of our china (called, appropriately enough, Aegean Mist). Room is anchored with classic dark wood furniture.
On the other hand…
DEN: Red. Red red walls. Almost the entire room is taken up by a huge ivory sectional sofa, the Rock Band instruments are always out and ready near the wall-mounted flatscreen, and the closet (since our den originated as a bedroom) is all shelves of DVDs and games. Fun, lively, RED!
In between, the other rooms tend to have calmer walls but colorful accents. The epitome of this combo is the office – completely white walls and a white L-shaped desk hugging the room, but every accessory is bright and multi-colored, all anchored into this insane rug from Ikea:
