All Right Stop, Renovate, and Listen
Ice is back with a brand new… home improvement show? Yep, Vanilla Ice (aka Robert Van Winkle) is getting a series on the DIY Network chronicling the renovations that he’s doing to his six-bedroom 7,000 square foot home in Florida.

When I first read about it in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks back I can’t tell which part caught me off guard the most- the fact that Vanilla Ice has cred as a house flipper (apparently he’s been doing home improvement for 15 years) or that his career has afforded him a 7,000 square foot home. Either way, consider our curiosity officially piqued and the chances that we’ll be tuning in for the Oct 14th premiere high.

What about you? Are you tempted enough to see what Mr. Ice Ice Baby can turn out as far as a DIY show goes? Are you hoping he’ll break out his old rhymes while he’s at it – or are you happy to see him finding a new line of work? And of course we can’t mention Ice without including a link to his one-hit-wonderful video. Happy Friday everyone. Word to your mother.

Wow. Vanilla Ice renovating a home? Doesn’t sound overly thrilling! LOL
Well, if I lived somewhere where I’d be able to watch the show, I probably would ;o) Here’s to hoping he does better with diy…
As mentioned yesterday I have a shout out for you on my blog today (scroll down for the English text). http://www.ancema.dk
Interesting. I’ll give it a look, for sure.
Wow… even if we had cable I can’t say that I’d check that out. I might get my mom to DVR it at some point if curiosity to see how much of a train wreck it is wins out.
I guess Ice is back with a brand new mission?
Hahaha sorry couldn’t resist!
I just can’t believe he till has money to do flips. Should be entertaining at the very least.
Wow…. just wow. I really love the DIY Network. But, alas, we don’t have cable. So I’ll have to miss out on Vanilla’s DIY skilz.
Hilarious!! Now I have that song stuck in my head (and I don’t mind!)…. :)
Hilarious post title!
Thanks for the early morning laugh! You have a way with words.
I will be curious to watch for sure! Homie!
HA! It took me about 5 minutes to stop laughing, I don’t know why. But yes i’d be very curious to see what he can do. Thanks for that laugh today
curiosity peaked!
I was gonna comment “Word to ya mutha”….and then I read your last sentence :D
I would watch…if I had the DIY channel, so instead I’ll just stay tuned to what you guys do :D I like you guys better anyway
If there’s a problem, Yo! he’ll solve it. ;-)
LOL I can’t wait to see this show! And I definitely appreciate your “ice ice baby” references. Word to your mother.
It’s going to be like a trainwreck! I won’t be able to stop watching. :)
I think his career has been amazing. He’s done so many things to stay in the public eye without getting overly caught up in celebrity. He handles his past with humor and his future with promise. I am very excited about this!
They will give a reality show to anyone these days!
Who knew Vanilla Ice was a house flipper?
If you saw the clip where VI demolishes his Ice Ice Baby video tape with a sledgehammer when MTV did an “Air No More” episode, you’d be anxiously awaiting his first anger control melt-down, as I am.
this sounds absolutely amazing! i can’t wait to see him do some demolition and smash stuff up, the way he did on ron jeremy when he was in Surreal Life. yes, i watch a lot of crap VH1 shows! ha!
How can you NOT watch this show?! This is going to be so wonderfully bizarre!
We got rid of our cable to cut costs, but the hubby is wanting it back due to football and hockey season. I kind of miss it, but i barely have time to watch tv anyway. I would probably tune it if I had it. I do miss my Food Network and HGTV. Who knows, maybe he actually knows what he’s doing, lol!
Hey John & Sherry,
I was just reading Apartment Therapy and I saw your Living/Dining Room front and center.
GREAT JOB and I love your blog,
Dianne

Too funny! I’ll be watching! Wonder what the theme song will be? There are so many to choose from. Never mind, I can only think of his ONE hit wonder ;)
Ice, Ice, Baby!
For Real???
I’ll only watch if he PROMISES to break into the rap from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II – the secret of the OOZ. “Go nija, go nija, go!”
I think I might just have to catch that… i hope the theme song is “Ice Ice Baby.” I know that’s dorky, but hey.
Nothing wrong with doing an honest days work.
Now the song is stuck in my head…ice, ice baby…
I’m curious, but I can’t say I’m expecting much from it…
The only way this could get better is if MC Hammer makes a guest appearance. U Can’t Touch This
AHHAHAHAHAHHA wow. I’m not 100% sure I get that station but I might upgrade my cable package just to watch that. AMAAAAAZING! (And I totally have the song stuck in my head now…)
Here’s to hoping he sings every second of the show! :)
It’s not that I don’t like the content of your posts… but I LOVE the titles. I don’t know how you all come up with them, but they are fabulous. This one especially!
What the heck, I’ll tune in.
I remember a few years ago Adam Carolla (who has his on wildly popular podcast, and used to be on Loveline with Dr. Drew) had a show where he re-did his dad’s house. It was funny to watch.
You can bet your sweet DIY I will be watching! Too bad he has experience, this might make it too “real” and not too much of a train wreck….Can’t wait!!
This is so good, I might have to blog about it myself (linking back to you of course!)
You know if this were airing on MTV or VH1 I’d think it was a joke, but the fact that it is on DY network does give it, and him, some credibility. Could be interesting in some sort of strange way.
Best.Post.Title.Ever. And now that song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day!
This post made my day. I think you asked all of the questions on everyone’s mind. How did he get that house? A house flipper? Really? LOL. Posts like this are what keep me coming back to YHL… well, that and all the other great stuff. You guys have a great sense of humor. :)
I am with you. My first thought was “Does Vanilla Ice still make enough money to have a 7000 sq ft house? How is that possible?”!!!
heck ya I’ll be watching! I just saw Vanilla Ice in concert this summer, in Regina Saskatchewan! He’s still got it, and his new music coming later this year – awesome!! He did some old school, mixed with some new stuff.
I think this is great! I had a huge crush on Vanilla Ice back in his heyday. Good for him that he can afford all that. My curiosity about the show is definitely piqued.
I watched one of those behind the music VH1 specials about him sometime last yea, and actually found him to be interesting and smart with his money! compared to most people who had hits in the 90′s that are now broke…..
LOL @ nerdy post title. :)
Haha, video was thoroughly enjoyed. But oh my GOSH at the pants. The PINK pants! And the hot pink shirt… ohhh, it all makes me laugh.
I might actually tune in for his show – calendar is marked!
Watching that video made me think of MC Hammer, because my local radio station (Raleigh – not too far!) is having a throw-back dance this weekend and MC Hammer is their booked entertainer, and they’ve been talking about it nonstop – I’d love to go just to watch him if nothing else. But what’s funny is that MC Hammer was the 3rd suggestion over on the right of Ice’s video, haha. So I wasn’t too far off! So naturally, I enjoyed that one too… now THOSE pants, haha…
You know what I like though? In both of those videos, the dancing was so much cooler to me than all the junk out there today. They weren’t all about being totally in sync and perfect – it was all about busting the moves. I wish dancing was still that much fun.
Are you kidding? I’m so there. I read the same EW article, and was so amused/excited, I woke up my husband to tell him. I’m picturing an Adam Corolla kind of experience.
Why would you need to renovate a 7,000 sqft mansion?? I’d be more entertained if he had a flipping show.
Haha! I’m curious to see how this turns out! Based on his personal look, I’m thinking might be a bit showy, just a tad. I guess those song payments are really doing it for him ;)
I’d rather a new season of Flipping out instead.
HA! While I have to admit that I did buy the CD, I’m not sure where this show will fall, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be somewhere between Jersey Shore and Bad Girls Club on the Train-Wreck-O-Meter.
Aahahahaha! Thank goodness we get the DIY Network. I will be checking this out.
