Fab Freebie: Artist’s Block
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.
Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).
Here’s how to enter this week:
- PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST

Block me!
BLOCK ME!
It always helps me to take a break and bake something with some really great music on.
BLOCK ME!
A quick walk in the garden to refresh!
BLOCK ME!
I read some blogs to get the creative juices flowing!
BLOCK ME!
The best thing for me is to definitely take a step back and away from my work and come back to it. It always seems to look different when I come back!
BLOCK ME!
I love to read blogs to get ideas!
Block me!
I just spend a minute doing something else – eating, listening to music, watching TV, taking a walk, etc. Just the quick break frees my mind to start again!
BLOCK ME!
I find that a run always helps.
BLOCK ME!
I look and magazines and read blogs to try overcome a creativity block!
BLOCK ME! I have zero creativity on my own so the absolute best way for me to get any creative juices flowing is to look at pics in magazines!
BLOCK ME! I love these!
“BLOCK ME”
The beach always gets my creative juices flowing. Particularly one in Puerto Rico called Las Picuas.
BLOCK ME!
I look online at different sources for ideas on designing and topics of interest.
BLOCK ME!
I blast bouncy high-energy music and get myself moving.
BLOCK ME
I clean my space so I can focus on the task or writing my book. Otherwise I head over to my library where I am guaranteed a peaceful spot to write.
BLOCK ME!
I set a timer for 5 minutes and spend it doing stream of consciousness writing. Works for me….
BLOCK ME!
I look at some of my favorite blogs or bookmarked design websites for inspiration! :)
Block me and show me color!
I think going to Barnes and Noble is a great way to find inspiration. Everyone has a bookstore or library near their home.
BLOCK ME! I just try focusing on something else that I need to do and come back to it later.
BLOCK ME. I am a writer by trade so writers block is certainly something I am used to. What I do to conquer it probably goes against most people’s ideas of what you are *supposed* to do: I do a bunch of research on the topic, then let it percolate while I do anything else *but* write. Within 24-hours, I am usually sufficiently motivated (or close enough to deadline) to sit down to write. I also initially write on paper with pen to get things started, and transfer over to a computer when I start to self-edit.
BLOCK ME. A quick run outside always helps any writers block I have.
BLOCK ME!
BLOCK ME. I guess it all depends on what I’m writing. Sometimes deadlines are enough to make something appear on the page.
BLOCK ME!
I walk away from it–I do my best writing when it comes to me in my head first. Sometimes I can get entire drafts down inside my head!
BLOCK ME! Like to go for a nice walk to clear my head.
Block me!
I am about to begin a Ph.D program in August and I have written tons of papers and journal articles within my undergraduate and master’s programs…I have a method I stick to that has served me well.
When given an assignment I immediately schedule a few writing sessions that each last 4 hours. I find that four hours is enough to make some progress but if I am feeling really motivated, I can stick it out for 6 hours to get the job done a bit faster.
Short, Scheduled sessions work best for me!
BLOCK ME!! I like to look through other people’s blogs to get inspiration about what to write or to get ideas of projects to do!
BLOCK ME!
I love to bring out my ipod and play a slow meaningful song. I can’t explain the feeling of relating to the words and melody! It inspires me beyond words.
“BLOCK ME!”
I take a walk when I’m blocked. :)
BLOCK ME! I scour blogs like yours for ideas :)
BLOCK ME!
I follow the John Cage/Bruce Mau advice of “Begin anywhere.”
BLOCK ME!
Usually sitting outside on a nice day listening to music helps me focus and gets my creative juices flowing again.
BLOCK ME!
A quick nap or a walk around the block usually does the trick.
BLOCK ME!
Walking my pup always gives me ideas.
Congratulations on your new addition, she is sooo cute!
Block me! I am often inspired by art and nature.
