Fab Freebie: Canvas The Area

Are you looking to kick off your art collection? Do you want to add a bit of gallery-eque feel to that blank wall? Or do you just love winning something pretty? Well this week’s prize from Rachel Halsey Photography is right up you’re alley then.
Rachel’s a portrait-photographer-for-hire from Greenville, SC who’s making the move into selling her vintage-inspired images. So now her sometimes-sweet, sometimes-industrial work is available on canvas in two styles: gallery wraps (where the canvas is wrapped around 1.5″ piece of wood) or float wraps (which are similar, but give the added dimension of “floating” off the wall a bit). Either way you look at it, it’s a sophisticated twist on your traditional framed art wall or leaning mantlescape (bonus: each canvas is ready to hang, so there’s no need to hunt down a frame).

My favourite art gallery is the Metropolitan Museum, because I just moved to NYC about two years ago, and I spent nearly every weekend in there when I first got here, because it was so gigantic that I couldn’t fit it all into a day. I’m all about the Arms & Armory section!! Now I’m moving back to Canada, so I have to get my fill of Met in before I go. :)

I love the High Museum in Atlanta, but I am surrounded by so many talented artists and amazing galleries right here in Asheville, NC.
CANVAS ME!! I love going to this tiny 3rd floor gallery above an antique store here in Raleigh, NC. Artists rent out the studios and put their work on display for free viewing. Always changing and definitely interesting local talent.

CANVAS ME. . . favorite museum ever is Field in Chicago (although obviously not an art museum). We have a cool art museum here in Omaha, but we haven’t been to it yet. . . hopefully soon.

I wish I could say there were some cool museums where I live but the last museum I went to here was the childrens’ museum which is down-right depressing. Oh well! I loved going to the history museum when I was a kid so I guess I’ll say that!

As a public history student I’m always anxious for new history museum experiences… though art museums are a fun change of scenery!

I adore the Art Institute of Chicago. I can seriously spend a whole day getting lost in the wonderfulness!

I live in Pittsburgh, PA, there are a ton of small galleries that display local artist. Which is nice to see all the talent in our community.

we love any galleries and museums were we are invited to be a little loud and touch some of the exhibits– we love for our two-year-old to begin to enjoy and experience beauty.

My favorite art gallery is pretty much my life. I take photos of places that my family goes on trips together and I frame those unique memories around my house.

we actually LOVE to look up art galleries when we travel
it’s a great way to a – bring a memory home with you and b – ask some locals WHAT TO DO while checking out their art
so that’s usually what we opt for when we’re traveling so we have a great little collection of mementos and pieces around our home from local artists via all our travels
