We were at Ikea this weekend and they now have a faux version. It’s $12.99 compared to the $25 real version but it has a faux backing. I can’t find it online but they had tons at our Ikea.

I never knew those Ikea sheepskin rugs were real! I had one for a couple of semester during college and always thought they were fake. :( No wonder my cat loved wrestling with it so much. She’ll eat the fur and feathers off of any toys.

Anyways, great DIY faux fur idea! Love your blog.

Yeah, I wondered why you didn’t seem to mind that they were fur when you were trying to live lightly on the earth. Lol, sounds like you found a good solution! Fur seriously freaks me out, but I have no problem chowing down a hamburger. Go figure.

This is great. You’ve made your own decision based on what you’re comfortable with, and that’s awesome! And you’ve created a cute DIY tutorial to boot! The sheepskin rugs have always bothered me as well, and while I know some people like them, it’s nice that you’ve provided an alternative for those of us who are uncomfortable with animals skins as decor.

I think your comments dealing with people who are being bratty are really fantastic. It’s hard to deal with negative comments, and you guys have a lot of class!

I absolutely love this post. My favorite part, though, is the pillow you made! I want to get one of those fluffy wool rugs now just to make some pillows like that! :) Thanks for sharing this great idea!

(I do not envy you having to field all the judgmental posts. People shouldn’t have to live with others coming into their home–telling them what to eat, wear, and decorate with. Seriously, these are all personal choices.)
