Oh Brother! (Or Sister?)
We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is currently under construction. Our new addition is expected on May 19th. We’re thrilled, even though a certain someone won’t be the baby anymore…
Yup, Sherry’s got a proverbial bun in her proverbial oven. And we couldn’t be more elated to share the news with you guys! More details to follow on Friday (so ask any and all q’s and we’ll answer as many as we can at the end of the week).
Until then it’s back to before & afters and DIY ideas- we’re nothing if not home obsessed…

Congratulations Sherry and John! I discovered your blog around August and quickly became a regular follower because my husband and I were house hunting for our 1st place. We closed on our house on Nov. 10th and have been working on it every day until we move in this weekend (your peel and stick tile tutorial has been indispensable). On top of all that we are expecting our 1st baby in May also! My due date is May 4th. What a coincidence!
Anyway, I look forward to see how you handle a new baby and maintaining your home (which is lovely) and hopefully I can continue to be helped by your great tips!

Oh my goodness. I’m pretty sure EVERY blogger I read is having a baby, or just had a baby. And, I had a feeling this announcement would come from you two any day now.
Are you going to find out if it’s a boy or a girl? How are you planning to balance a full-time blog and a full-time baby? When/how did you tell John, your parents, etc.? Will you be raising a ‘green’ baby (no, not an alien…) — cloth diapers, making your own baby food, etc.?
Also… I can’t wait for the name and nursery design. And you better show us a baby bump photo ASAP. :)

Yippie! You guys have a great opportunity to get lots and lots of advice here. Here is your first. Catch up on sleep now because those first three months can be hard! You will love being parents- It is so rewarding to watch your little babies change into loving, smart, sweet, snuggly people!

Congratulations, you guys. This is lovely. Two of my closest friends and my cousin each had babies about 3 months ago, and another friend of mine is due in April, and we will probably be starting to try around next May, so it really is baby-making time!!
I know you work extremely hard and diligently on this blog, but even so I hope it will be so great that you can be at home and don’t have to worry about maternity leave. I can’t wait to hear more about how you’re feeling, what you’ve been thinking about, how and when you found out you were expecting, what kind of research you’re doing and advice you’re getting and how you’re sorting through it all, what your belly looks like, whether you’re going to find out the gender or be surprised, what names you’re thinking about and why, what kinds of baby paraphernalia you’ll use (cloth diapers, perhaps? My cousin and friends love them!), and of course all the related tweaks and updates to the look and functionality of your home to accomodate new-parent-hood.
It’s so much fun to follow such a well-done blog about a couple in the same stage of life as we are. I tell my husband about stuff I’ve read on here so frequently, but he doesn’t even mind because it all makes for great conversation as we continue to settle into our new home. Congrats again!! So excited to hear more, on Friday and beyond.

I think she thought she’d go away or disappear if she ignored her! We’re also due here in the Carlson household – April 19! Congrats Sherry and John! I’ve never commented before but after reading your blog for so long I feel like I know you and have to send my well wishes! Is it also strange that I felt this day was coming very soon, as in I thought just last night that I bet they are going to announce they are pregnant this week.
Its especially touching as my daughter was born on May 21,2008 so Sherry’s due date is very close and thus I know exactly where she is in her pregnancy (and what she might be feeling to boot). I hope for her sake though that she has not experienced the nausea I did all the way until week 16.
Well one book I always like to recommend to “friends” is the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. A hilarious read and all very true.
Can wait to read all about your prepartions for the little bundle of joy!

Congratulations. I just had my first almost 4 months ago. It is the most difficult, yet most amazing thing that’ll ever happen to you. Burger will be ok. Just have your husband bring a baby blanket home from the hospital before you come home, so he gets familiar with the smell.

I’ve been meaning to email you both since I stumbled upon your site. I’ve been a follower since (2008) I was on matenity leave (in Canada you get 1 year off! Woohoo!). Anyway, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your site and great reno ideas. You definitely inspired me to make some drastic changes at home (painting the front door), rethinking our paint colours around the house to make it more cohesive (we’ll be repainting this spring and using two of your home colours –water chestnut and gentle tide), reorganizing and renovating our home office, etc.

Enjoy this time in your life..it will go by SO fast! Also, go see a movie, when the baby arrives you won’t set foot into a theater again until the child is in grade school (unless you are blessed to have family nearby to babysit) :)

Congratulations!!! My hubby is starting to get nervous because now almost all of my favorite bloggers are pregnant, and I’ve been afflicted with “Baby Rabies”.
Are you planning on cloth diapering and possibly starting a YHL baby related blog?

I am so very excited for you both and know you will make the most amazing parents. Sorry for Burger though. Poor guy. No longer King of the Castle. But I know there are some charming photos on the horizon of Burg curling up with his soon-to-be best friend.

Congratulations-what a lucky baby to be able to come to a home with talented parents like you both. There is nothing better than a child in the home-well a dog works pretty good too! :) My kids are gone now but I am a grandma now-its great too-but the house is quiet-you will love being parents.

Congrats guys! What wonderful news! I knew it had to be coming soon! We are also expecting our first-a baby girl- St. Patrick’s Day and could not be happier! I guess this makes Sherry, what, 15 weeks or so? Are you all finding out the sex soon? I can’t wait to see your nursery and all your ideas! I, too, would be interested to hear how you all will be handling daycare.

I have a 10 month old and have been baby proofing galore. Even though this is another year an a half down the road, I can’t help but think “What is going to happen to all those lovely white ceramic statues in your home?”

Ahhh! I had a feeling ;) We did the t-shirt on our first baby Kiki as well, except she was a big sis ;) That’s how we told our families, along with giant pink & blue flower bouquets that said “what’ll be, pink or blue? Either way I can’t wait to meet you!” :) I’m so happy for you guys, can’t wait to see your nursery/names/prego pics! I was just showing your blog to a friend last night, and now you have two new dedicated readers here in HI! ;)

Congrats!! That’s so exciting! I’m a first-time mommy of a 6-month-old (he’s a blogger, too… his URL is linked to my name). Parenthood has proven to be one of the craziest and best things that has ever happened to us. I know I don’t know you in real life, but from what you show of yourselves here, you just seem so fun, creative, and energetic- you’re going to be the coolest parents ever!

i’ve heard that it is helpful for pet to get used to baby things to let them smell the baby clothes you will be buying, the baby linens, etc…and then when the baby arrives, do it all over again with the clothes s/he has been wearing.

Of course I offer my congratulations along with everyone else, but I admit my first reaction was confusion (I thought you were getting another dog!) because of the recent Q&A for your blogiversary and you insisted you wouldn’t be having kids so soon. I hope this wasn’t just for the readers! ;)
