FLOR-al Arrangements Freebie Winner!

You guys seemed to be quite floored by this week’s giveaway from FLOR. And Sherry and I must admit that you kept us amused while we read through all of the things that made your feet happy – from fuzzy socks and massages to hot sand and warm cow pies (grossss). Okay, maybe we could’ve done without the visual of that last one. Your feet on a warm cowprint rug, however, we can definitely get on board with.

Speaking of which, you probably want to know who won the free 5′ x 7′ FLOR area rug of their choice. Well after giving random.org a quality foot rub, it handed over the name of our winner: Miki (who’s feet go “boom, boom, boom” for pedicures). Congrats! Now comes the hard part – picking the single rug design and color that you love the most. Can’t wait to hear what you land on…

And even though you’re probably tired of me consoling you this way, rest assured that we’ve got another great freebie all lined up for Monday. The good news? This one ships ANYWHERE!

Congrats Miki! To build on the gross cow pie story, I have a ranch story of my own. Growing up my friend lived on a cattle ranch, and in the spring when they would brand and castrate all the now-steers, the ground would be littered with the… um, removed items. Her brothers would chase us and throw them at us!

That being said, I think my favorite rug on this page is the tan one under the dining table. Not the cow one- sorry.

I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom….
When YHL said
“You won a FLOR and get to take it HOME!”

I’m leaning towards Needlepoint Stripe in Brook for the kitchen nook but have to talk it over with the Mr. before a final decision is made!

Congrats Miki! How exciting!

Ewwww. Cow pies. My great grandma had a saying… You can’t help where your love falls even if it is in a cow pie.

I love how nice those area rugs look on hard wood. So chick and modern!! Congrats Micki!!

John & Sherry – what about you guys? Do you prefer hardwood or carpet? Which is easier to take care of?

Congrats on the baby :) I do hope that you take some time to talk about it on the blog – even though this isn’t the main purpose of YHL.

Hey Sarah,

We love hardwood flooring (as demonstrated by our choice to have it throughout our house, even in the half bathroom and the kitchen) dotted with warm and cozy area rugs (which are less of a commitment than wall to wall carpeting and allow us to enjoy plush texture underfoot along with rich wood floors). Hardwoods are easy to keep clean for the long haul (while carpeting tends to stain over time) which is another reason why we love area rugs that we can launder, shampoo, flip, or even replace when they get too worse for wear. To us it’s a win/win combination!

So I’ve started to see these FLOR carpets popping up everywhere lately but am wondering how durable they are… and if the visible demarcations of the individual squares are any detraction. They look really nice in the pictures above and in your basement area but where would (or wouldn’t) you use them? I’m personally thinking of using it as a small accent in an office to give a pop of color/texture? But what about in a larger space…

Hey Kara,

Head over to Flor’s website and you’ll be totally convinced that they can work anywhere! We definitely are. From gorgeous dining set ups with the higher end Martha Stewart patterns to the more durable and foot-traffic-heavy spaces like mudrooms and entryways they’re really great for a variety of places. Which explains their cult-like following (people love them so much they have them in multiple rooms). And the short pile ones (like the variety we chose for our basement) hold up like you wouldn’t believe. Just this morning my furnace maintenance guy ran over them with wet muddy leaf-covered feet and they look like it never happened! Hope it helps.

I am laughing SO hard that you linked to my cow pie comment!

I think my mother loved to tell us that story when we were kids because we always responded with “EWWWW! GROSSSSS!”

I loooove me some Flor tiles. For years I had searched for a square rug in my LR and Flor was the only way to do this. They’re so durable and beautiful. When together, you virtually can’t see the lines. Mine are Velvet Twist Cinnabar. You can see a pic of it here on my recent Apartment Therapy post.

What a great house tour Kacy! Thanks so much for sharing the link!

xo,
Sherry (& John)
