Burning Question: Thanky-Panky

Sherry and I have so much to be grateful for. From being blessed with our home, our health, our marriage and our wonderful growing family to sharing it all with enthusiastic and supportive readers like you - we really couldn’t ask for more. And beyond those “traditional” things, we’re thankful for the little things too. Like DVR and Amy’s Pizza and Tina Fey to name a few…
And we’d love to know what you guys are thankful for this year. From the usual big time stuff (life, love, laughter) to the quirky mundane things that have the power to make your day (new shoes, Lady GaGa or a leopard print Snuggie) tell us all about it.
This post was created as part of a global groundswell of gratitude called TweetsGiving. Created by US nonprofit Epic Change it’s an experiment that seeks to change the world through the power of gratitude. Visit their TweetsGiving site to learn more.
Psst- Is anyone surprised to hear that Burger is at the top of our so-thankful-for list? In fact, check out this funny video of our favorite pooch getting interviewed about Sherry’s bun in the oven over on Hamburger’s House.

Ok, I’ll be the first to post!
I’m most grateful for..well..a lot of things! I think it’s impossible to pick just one. My husband, my family, friends and pets of course!
I’m also grateful for our house and cars and the things that get us by in life in general.
Most of all, I think I’m grateful to just be here. :)
I am grateful for my family!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Full of family, friends, and fun!

P.S. I wanted to let you know about a wonderful giveaway I am having on Monday (preview today) ~ beautiful art galss holiday ornaments. I hope you join in the fun!
Besides my husband, family and the roof over our heads…
We are 9 weeks prego today so…I get to eat like a pregnant woman this year!
I am most thankful for my husband, 3 year old son and family, followed closely by my health, necessary material posessions that make life easy, great girlfriends and my career, which has been good to me.
But now for the good stuff: laptop, my SUV (necessary with a baby and a bad back!), my Copco coffee cup, COFFEE, photo sharing websites like Kodak and shutterfly, the 2 or 3 blogs I read daily (YHL included of course), my chocolate brown GAP oversized cardigan, my iPod, DVR and the Office re-runs on TBS.
I think I speak for us all when I say I’m thankful for YOU!
I am also thankful for Liz Lemon and her cupcake pajamas. I am mostly greatful for my wonderful husband, our puppy Roxy, a roof over our heads, and our health.
I am thankful for:
My husband and they way I feel when he looks at me, puppies, citizenship in a country where I can write and speak my mind at any time and place, the thousands of government employees that protect those rights for all of us, contagious laughter, great old movies, a fantastic public library just 5 minutes from my front door, friendly and fun blogs, having taken advantage of all my chances (so far) for world travel, Facebook – for helping me find old friends, melted Nutella over vanilla ice cream, a warm safe home with food to eat, health insurance, lipstick and eye shadow, lazy Sundays, snow, Autumn leaves, Spring flowers, sunscreen, Christmas stockings, birthday cards, my job, a good cup of tea on a rainy day, free museums, public parks, my education, good friends, shared confidences, being able to cook well, creative inspiration, classical music and all the places it has taken me, a husband that likes to hold hands, etc….
After living in a 750 sq foot apt in DC for five yrs and now moving back to the midwest and moving into our first home this week I am grateful for a lot! I’m grateful for space (obviously!), a garage, caring groceries directly from our car to the kitchen, not tripping over my husband in the smallest apt. bathroom ever built, being close to our family and friends again and finally putting down some roots.
I’m thankful for:
1. Spandex jeans that fit my middle aged butt
2. Unlimited texting plans
3. Teenaged children who still think I’m smart and like to cuddle during movies
4. Friends who have been there for decades
5. My dog’s unconditional adoration
6. 21 years of waking up to my very best friend’s smile
I am thankful for my health, even if it needs some improving.

I am thankful that we made the decision to start trying ot have a baby…hopefully next year I will be thankful for said baby!
I am most thankful for my family, I have a job, we have a roof over our heads and food to eat. Mostly God who has been with me every step of the way.
I’m thankful for arnold palmers! If you haven’t had one, that’s half lemonade, half iced tea!
I am thankful for my husband, and our little girl who will be here in about 6 weeks!!!!
I am thankful everyone in our family is healthy and for great doctors. One of our children had an illness that lasted a year and is now healthy.
I am grateful for the Internet and a car to drive in the winter, and a roof over my head.
I am thankful to be on the road to recovery from a severe medical emergency and for all the wonderful doctors and nurses. For my beloved husband – married this year after 17 years together. For the opportunity to buy this house, however much I may mock it. For friends old and new, near and far, “real” and “virtual.” For beauty in unexpected places and the unconditional love of companion animals. Wishing all of you a good Thanksgiving, whatever your circumstances: where there is life, there is hope.
I am thankful for:
choosing the best husband 17 yrs ago
my 2 boys who still like to cook with me in the kitchen
my sister who always ‘gets’ me
my triathlon friends who keep me fit, sane and happy
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
I’m thankful for:
- Trader Joe’s
- Family Guy
- Thanksgiving Day Texas hold ‘em tourneys and family members that are in it just for the fun
- My job
- My SO, he’s the bee’s knees
Fresh out of college with a new bachelor’s degree and job I am thankful for expendable income!
Also for the love from what is possibly the best, funniest, sexiest man alive.
Also for friends, family, and a cute new puppy who obviously adores me.
I am most thankful for my family. We have lost three members of our family within the fast couple of years and it’s been hard. I am thankful to God that our family has continued to stay strong together and hold on for support and love. It’s always a blessing to be together around the table. I’m thankful that I still have a job in this rough economy (and I’m thankful to have money to pursue a new career – photography). I’m thankful that Joe walked into my life and that I have the marriage bug in me =) I am also thankful for my big cuddly bunny – my Lab Cooper. Without him, nights watching TV wouldn’t be the same. =)
Happy Thanksgiving!! =)
Oh how I wish that I had had a dimmer when my little one was a baby!
I am thankful this year for a child that is healthy and thriving. I am thankful that he has made it so far and learned so much and I am thankful that I have had the chance to teach him.
I am thankful for 30 rock. That video was hilarious!
I’m so thankful for my loving hubby of a year and a half. Our wonderful new residence (even if we are just renting). The modern conviences like facebook, your blog, hot water, refridgerators, and of course TiVo. I am also thankful for the health and happiness we have enjoyed for another year. I should also mention my extended family as well.
I am thankful for:
My doggies and how much joy they bring to my life.
My husband and how much he makes me laugh on a daily basis.
Always having enough to live on (we may not be rich but we never go hungry!)
My teeny tiny home that only takes 15 minutes to clean.
My family, no matter how disfunctional we are.
Mad Men.
Blockus (best game EVER!)
Nintendo Wii (Super Mario Kart is the best!)
Badseed Market.
Good friends.
Harry Potter books.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for my MacBook. It keeps me connected from far away. And for that show Community on NBC. So. Hilarious. Liz Lemon is funny (her drinking wine while on the treadmill? Genius), but senior Chang and Abed also rock the house!
I am most grateful/thankful for my family this Thanksgiving. My husband and I just welcomed our first child, a boy, a little over two weeks ago, and we couldn’t feel more blessed. Both my family and his have been to visit, and his family is here for Thanksgiving. Last year was our first Thanksgiving just the two of us (we couldn’t fly home), so to have his family here and our new baby is just awesome. We have much to be thankful for.
I am genuinely thankful for discovering your blog! Reading it everyday has given me inspiration, amazing ideas, and has reminded me that despite being part of the “corporate world,” all my heart really wants is to create things that make me feel good!
I am also thankful for Pandora, Stephanie Meyer, and my adorable doggies that can make me smile no matter what’s going on.
I have too many things to be thankful for to list them all here, but at the top of my list today are a wonderful husband who is also my best friend, family, good health and freedom. Thankful for all those who fight for my freedom as well.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We are most thankful for the forgiveness that God has given us in His Son, Jesus Christ and that he offers it to all who will believe and accept it.
The Smith Family, VA
1. My best friend/husband, with whom I grow more deeply in love every single day.
2. My adorable 10-month-old daughter, whose smile makes every day a special occasion.
3. My family- especially the in-laws- who love me and stand by me… and cook really, really yummy food.
4. Health, wealth (well, the ability to pay the bills every month, at least), and happiness.
5. Customers who mess up panty tables and bra drawers, giving me job security. LOL
6. YHL, of course! I suddenly have a passion for decorating and, hopefully, renovating a house someday. :)
I am thankful for…
My husband – My love, My better half, The one in the
trenches with me.
My children – I feel so privileged to be their Mom. They’re
great little kids.
My home – The wonderful place where we are growing as a family.
Last but not least, My children’s laughter. It’s the best sound ever. Period.
Thank you for this blog. It is wonderfully inspiring and makes me want to make this house an even better place for our kids to grow up. Happy Thanksgiving! Congratulations on your new addition. This is an amazing time (once the morning sickness passes!). Enjoy every minute!
Thanks,
Lauren B.
To name a few, I am thankful for…
1.) My AMAZING (and oh so sexy) husband
2.) My little Sadie mae (goldendoodle)
3.) MY JOB MY JOB MY JOB which I like 80% of the time
4.) My log cabin in the country
5.) Cleaning products and primer
6.) In laws I actually like and enjoy being with
7.) Home Depo and Lowes :)
There’s so much to be thankful for, that I would probably have the longest comment perhaps ever in younghouselove lol.
Everyday and everything we do or have we must be thankful for. I’m most thankful for just being able to have my family and enjoying ourselves and making memories.
Also, very belated of me, CONGRATS, on the new addition to the family. I myself found out I’ll be having bean number 2.
Your blog is the best:)
Thanks,
Loriana
I am so thankful for mine and my family’s health. I am thankful for my awesome husband and my four beautiful children-who have changed my life FOREVER! I am thankful for a God who loves me where I am and the amazing church where our family is welcomed and cared for.
I am also thankful for sites like this one that speak about a love of mine-making my home my refuge- and add in humor. =)
Of course I’m thankful for all of the usual things (my husband, my sisters, my family and friends, my job), but I am also thankful for little things, like reality TV, DVR, my beautiful one bedroom cabin in the woods, Chipotle Mexican Grill, my church family, BOB FM (the radio station that I listen to every day and my way to work and home), etc. The list could go on and on!
I’m thankful for 5 wonderful years of marriage, Mekong vietnamese restaurant, and my FurBaby (cat)!!!
I am thankful for…
my husband
our dogs
our family and friends
our house
our jobs
delicious thanksgiving food
chocolate
target
the office
really good books
and YHL of course!
My thankful list:
*all my healthy boys who keep me young
*IBC cream soda
*TicTacToes socks (my oldest will NOT wear socks with seams
*our magical neighborhood
*YoungHouseLove!
- My fiance because he still wants to marry me despite the trial run which isn’t always a slice of cake
- My son because we decided to have him before we got the legal part taken care of and he’s so much more awesome than I could have dreamed
- My immediate family despite our utter dysfunction and craziness because we are always there for each other
- My in-laws for being good hearted and supportive people who happen to live on a farm, which is about the most awesome place for a two year old to spend time
- My Mother, every single day. We didn’t always have a great relationship, and a few years ago my fiance helped me to let go of the past and embrace a new attitude. Since then my Mom and I have gotten along great. Now that she only has two months to live, I’m thrilled that I not only repaired our relationship in time to get to know her before this end, but that I could be here for her in a way that would not have been possible if we’d still been at odds. It takes a special kind of guy to repair the relationship between a woman and her mother. I’m glad to say he’s mine.
hands down – besides all the typical stuff to be happy for I’m over the moon Thankful for 30 Rock. Best new show EVER! (Parks & Rec is a close 2nd).
I am thankful for
My baby girls
My husband
MY parents
My large family
daily insparation from LHL
I’m thankful for so much, but to list a few:
The non-essentials that just bring me pleasure are—
-a newly renovated kitchen, living room, dining room that makes entertaining more possible
-the internet and blogs which I surf much too often
-Facebook. Something I never thought I’d say, but because the miles divide us, I have learned much, much, much about distant nieces and nephews that I never would have known otherwise. Just simple things like one is a morning person and his wife is not. Another nephew got engaged and his brother loves to cook. That my great nephew had a good report from his teacher. That a niece-in-law is pregnant…
For the Essentials:
-my husband who loves me despite
-my faith which keeps me going, and I’m especially in need of it right now
-healthy children
-a balanced budget and being debt free except for the house.
Thanks for asking!
Besides my family, friends, health and home, I am grateful for all the decorating blogs,Young House Love especially that put forth so many clever and frugal ideas. No wonder so many decorating magazines called it quits this year.
I’m thankful for every morning that I’m alive and I’m still able to make things better.
Hey YHL’ers – if holiday shopping on a budget is something you’re thankful for, check out the awesome savings at amazon.com, including a one-year subscription to the much-loved Real Simple magazine for only $5.00! I got this awesome deal a couple months ago, but before I could report it here, the deal was gone.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Wahoo! Thanks for the tip!

Good call! I’m also very grateful for Liz Lemon ;-)
