We know the perfect blue for you! It’s by Benjamin Moore called Quiet Moments and it’s a soft blue with some gray in it (but not too much) so it’s serene and airy without looking too babyish or bright. Plus it looks great with chocolate furnishings and beige accents. Hope it helps!

I simply love your blog. I look at it daily. I love this particular mood board because I am really into blue rooms. I am currently in the process of painting my bedroom and need advice on a soft blue paint that will go well with chocolate brown (if you are allowed to answer this request). My bedroom windows face south therefore I get a lot of sunlight during the day. There are so many blues out there that I want to make the right decision the first time around and not have to repaint because I hate the color I selected. I don’t want a baby blue or one that is too bright or too gray. I am looking for something that will be calming yet match well with chocolate brown furniture and beige accents.

You bet, just be sure to do two or three thin and even coats using the exact poly that we mention by name (in the tutorial we linked to above) to avoid any yellowing which can ruin the entire paint job. Hope it helps!

Laura- Crisp white semi-gloss paint on those moldings and trim will look lovely in Benjamin Moore’s Decorators White. Hope it helps!

Tracie- A good sandy tan paint is Ashen Tan or Cedar Key by Benjamin Moore (or even Glidden’s Water Chestnut).
