Unfortunately they offered up a discount (09YHL) back when they did a fab freebie with us a while ago, but it was only supposed to be valid for a little while. I guess there’s no harm in trying it to see if it still works right…?

Good question! It doesn’t really effect us at all. We’ve always been very clear to point out when something was sent to us for free or when we were provided with a gift card to spend (like when we did the BHG challenge with Home Depot) so we’ll just have to keep being ethical and upfront, which has always been our goal as bloggers (what’s the point of tricking our lovely readers into anything?).

We believe that there’s no need to be shady and we’ve always had a no-paid-post policy (which means people can’t secretly pay us to write good things about their company or products in a post, so we have to genuinely like something to endorse it without being paid- like this paint brush or this vacuum for example) and we’re always super quick to point out that we’re not affiliated with them in any way and weren’t paid or otherwise perk’d to mention them on our site.

The only time we promote products and companies for compensation are when they’re clearly marked as sponsors on our sidebar (and in this once a month post) so there’s no funny business going on and everyone knows who is paying for placement and that all other posts are completely unpaid and unsolicited endorsements. And of course we’re happy to talk about new products and companies when they offer up a freebie to our readers (which is very clearly explained in our weekly freebie posts).

We really value our readers’ trust and would never want to compromise it in any way, even if the new blog regulations weren’t in effect (which is why we’ve been operating as if blog ethics were regulated for the past 2+ years). We wanna be 100% transparent and truthful with you guys since we’re offering up so many tips and tutorials and never want you guys to think we’re biased or compromised in any way. Hope it helps!
