These Fit Us To A Tee
We’re sticklers for observing anniversaries (and even dogiversaries and blogiversaries) and since cotton is the traditional two year anniversary theme, we though our second blogiversary would be the perfect time to (finally!) bring you the much requested YHL t-shirt!
We never fancied ourselves t-shirt designers, but after several requests and weeks of planning and prototyping, we’re excited to share the designs that we’ve proudly birthed (there was even a bit of lamaze-esque heavy breathing there at the end). We’ve whipped up two designs for the ladies – one that we simply call “Logo Love”…
… and one that we lovingly refer to as “Painted Love”.

And of course we can’t forget our “Hammer Love” version for the dudes…
…and even a sweet little “Puppy Love” dog tee for all of Burger’s virtual BFFs.
We hunted around a bit to find an amazing little local company (Affordabilitee, a spin on one of our favorite words) to print and provide all of these high-quality 100% cotton preshrunk tees for us, so they’re a cut above the usual mass-produced t-shirt. And we still worked hard to get the very best prices (we’re all about a deal), so all shirts can be snagged for $19 which includes free domestic shipping.
Oh, but we’re celebrating our blogiversary by applying a discount to ‘em right out of the gate. So you can get any of our new YHL shirts for just $17 for the rest of September (yup, that still includes free domestic shipping).
We truly wish we could dish every shirt out for $10 a pop, but alas, supporting the local guys and opting for high-quality shirts and screening comes with a few extra dollars attached to it. So mosey on over to our shop to check them out, and feel free to snag them at our special blogiversary rate. The lady and dog options do tend to run a wee bit small but we have a handy little sizing breakdown on each so you can suss out which tee will will do you (and your pet’s) home-improvement-loving body justice. Funnily enough, as a point of reference John, Burger and I all wear mediums.
And in summary: we’re beyond flattered at the interest you guys have shown in YHL tees (all your email, Twitter, Facebook and comment requests didn’t go unnoticed!), and we’re super excited that they’re finally here. You never fail to amaze us with your enthusiasm and support, so big virtual Burger licks go out to every last one of you.

Why don’t you offer the hammer print for women?
Hey Wehaf,
Good question! I guess for the same reason we don’t offer the logo or the paint splatter prints for men. We just wanted to create some unique designs for each type of tee so we went with the hammer for the boys. The good news is that lots of girls are ordering them in smaller sizes so they really can be worn by ladies and gents alike. Hope it helps!

Cute! I love the hammers :)
“Lamaze”… quick!
Well done!
Love the painted love version!
Did you also design all that????????? No, seriously!!
LOVE IT!!! Gotta be one of my favorite posts! Will be grabbing one of those ladies tees!
Coool!!! I love them!
These are so classy! I love the pale green and the yhl logo looks great – especially cute how it’s adapted for the doggie shirt (wonder if my cats would fit? ;-)! Definitely very tempting…
REALLY cute! And, the deal is fantastic! Thanks and congrats on 2 years of blogging!
Those look amazing! Great job.
They’re all T-rific! (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) Great job. I think we’ll be getting one for each of us. I sure hope Sadie fits hers!
very cute shirts!
Those look fabulous…especially burger’s :)
I am totally amazed at the hammer version and how you were able to incorporate the heart in that logo. Genius! I am in awe, as usual, with your creativity. Congratulations!
John you look so manly with that hammer – have you ever thought about maybe doing a tv show… topless?
Very cool! Especially love the puppy one!
Awesome!!! Love the designs!
so great! burger’s shirt rocks :-)
Adorable! And your pricing is MORE than reasonable; I know the wholesale costs associated with making tees in the US and I’m impressed by your pricing. *Most companies would sell them for at least $20 or $21.* Good job!
I <3 the "Painted Love"
I love the way you got the hammer one to look like a heart as well! Creative!
Cracking up at burger’s pic and tee. He is quite the poser.
LOL!
Burger’s smaller picture looks like it is torn straight from an Abercrombie catalog.
Awesome tees!
Awww. They are too cute!! And I love the green one; very pretty!! :)
These are all awesome! I especially love how you made the heart into a little paw for the doggy tee!
Cute logos! And Burger really is a medium? That is running small…
Yup! Burger has a big old barrel chest, but there’s a spot in the shop where you can click to see suggested pooch weights, which should help when it comes to measurements. And you might want to add a few pounds since Burger’s 8 lbs but wears a shirt meant for 11-23lb pups. Hope it helps!

Oh No!!! where are your Dictionary prints??? I don’t see them in the shop anymore:(
Hey Michele,
So sorry! Everything in the shop is limited edition so things come and go. The good news is that even though we no longer carry those monogram prints we always have new art in the pipeline so stay tuned for more soon…

You guys are too fun! They’re fantabulous!
Did you guys come up with the yhl logo with the heart yourself (or maybe that’s coming up in tomorrow’s post)?
Hey K*OS,
My amazing hubby gets all the credit for creating our YHL logo and the sideways heart. It’s funny because I went to art school and learned photoshop and all that design stuff and John just does it as a hobby but he has such a gift. It took him about an hour in photoshop to make our logo and I wasn’t allowed to look until he was done. When he said “ready” I peeked, squealed with glee and we never looked back! So glad to hear you like it too.

Love it!!!
I am so happy to see that you even have “big” sizes! My husband is a 3XL and I would love to get the hammer shirt for him.
You guys are the best!! Can’t wait to show off my Young House Love!!
Burger is soooo adorable. He could be a puppy model. I could definitely see his mug on a bag of dog food, or see him starring in a commercial. :) Love all the t-shirts! Very cute.
OMG! I love love love the shirts! I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical, only because I do not like most branded t-shirts. I should have known you guys would pull through with something awesome! With doggie shirts to boot! Heading over to place my order NOW.
love ‘em!!! can’t decide which one to get…might end up with both the ladies shirts soon! they look so comfy…
So I definitely think my little Rafa needs a YHL doggie tee. And I need a tee, too, but since you haven’t come out with a YHL Maternity line yet I’ll wait. Haha!
Do you ship to Canada? You say free shipping but I’m assuming that’s within the US.
Have you ever thought of doing a Canadian Colaboration? YHL Canadian Style!
Hey K*OS,
We do actually ship internationally, we just ask that people email us for shipping rates. We actually already have a Canadian order that has been placed! So keep an eye out for YHL tees in your neck of the woods…

I lurve the men’s t-shirt. I think my husband should have one…
SO CUTE! Well done, Youngsters! And happy blogiversary!
I’ll be ordering the men’s in small for a lady-friend of mine… there’s no reason a gal can’t wear a “men’s” shirt!
Congrats on two years!! The shirts are great!
I am trying to order a t-shirt and I’m confused…when I click add to cart, I am directed to PayPal, I have logged in and then I don’t know what to do after that…I don’t see anything about the shirt there. sorry, I don’t use PayPal too often!
thanks for the help…
~R
Hey Robyn,
So sorry for the trouble! It might help to click “view cart” after you add something to your cart, which should take you to a page where you can proceed to checkout through Paypal (you should see all the t-shirt info in your cart). Hope it helps! Anyone else having trouble?
xo,
s
Very cute tees! Thank goodness you didn’t do this before the big name change debacle.
I’m having the same troubles as Robyn…I click add to cart and it refreshes the page, and then i click view cart which takes me to paypal to log in, and after i log in it just says cart empty.
Oh no! So sorry for the ordering problems! John’s working on it as we speak. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm guys! Here’s hoping we’re back up and running soon…
xo,
s
Update: John worked his Paypal magic (after a bit more heavy breathing on our end) and everything should be up and running for all shop orders (including our new tees). Thanks so much for bearing with us guys- and for your interest!
xoxoxo,

me again…
ok, I am still not able to buy a shirt. I am clicking on a size large men’s shirt. Then, I clicked “add to cart” – this brought me to Paypal where I logged in and it said nothing about the t-shirt. Then, based on your suggstion above, I clicked the large mens t-shirt and clicked “view cart” and it said “cart is empty”.
If you can see that I’m doing something wrong, let me know otherwise, I will try again later at home. Maybe my work computer has something to do with it…not sure why, but maybe…?
thx so much,
~R
I’m having trouble too, been trying to add a doggy tee to my cart, and it just takes me to the main Paypal page. I can add other items from your shop, but the tee isn’t working.
Sorry I take that back. When I choose my size and pick “add to cart” it redirects me to paypal to log in. After I log in it takes me to my paypal recent activity page. If I go back to your shop page, and click “view cart” it takes me to a paypal page asking me to log in again, and then that page redirects me to a “this cart is empty” page. Help!
Well, that’s a bummer. No shirts for me, I guess.
No worries! Thanks so much for the alternate method to order.
~R
This is freakin’ fanastic! I love it! I hope HGTV contacts you soon for a TV show and you betcha I’d watch it.
Just ordered – one for me, and one for hubby! Yeah!!!!
Where is the baby onesie!?!?! :) I want my tot to show her Young House Love!
xo, L.
Love that idea Lindsay! We definitely hope to branch out into baby gear soon. Glad to hear there’s a willing bambino already in existence!

*random alert*
Sherry, I’ve been reading for months now, and right from the start, I noticed that you have FABULOUS eyebrows. I know it’s a weird thing to notice, trust me, I know. But, nevertheless, you have great eyebrows and it must be said.
I think you two are just about the cutest thing around and I love reading your site. Keep on keeping on!
Rachel
Hey Rachel,
That is so good to hear! Whew. Here I am wondering if I’ve overplucked or underplucked and you’ve been monitoring me all along and have such kind things to say. Thanks a million for being so sweet and random. Now if only John would let me pluck his. Just a little…

cute tees! i like the paint splatter one!
one question, do they stretch out after wearing them for a while? womens tees tend to do that but mens don’t.
