Hi, My Name Is Freebie Winners!
You guys are much more prolific snail mailers than we expected, at least according to the entries in our latest giveaway from Customized Stationary. I had attempted to buck the email trend by challenging myself to write a letter per day for an entire year, beginning last summer. I made it about three full months before my address book was exhausted and so was I. When I accidentally missed a day it I just couldn’t work up the momentum to ever get going again. And so ended my little letter-writing experiment.
But maybe having this new stationary will be the kick in the butt I need. And if you’re looking to have your butt kicked into writing more letters, you can now snag your own set of Customized Stationary notecards with a corresponding 8×10″ print at a discount! Today through September 10th, the YHL giveaway package is marked down 10% and you can get 10% off any other item in the shop by mentioning “younghouse” when you email your order.
But now on to our winners. Random.org- which I can always rely on to be completely impersonal and unbiased- churned out numbers corresponding to these three names: Lisa (who wrote a letter to a grieving friend), Allison L (who shares lasagna recipes by mail) and Elizabeth (who recently sent off a classic thank you). Congrats! As usual, we’re all curious to know which design you’ll be picking. And if you’re willing to show off your final notecards, we’d be happy to send you our mailing address (hint hint, we love snail mail).
As for next Monday, we figured we’d celebrate Labor Day with a prize specifically for those of you with little ones. Well, little furry ones. Maybe my “labor” reference is kinda off target. Can we all just agree to forget that it ever happened? Anyway, it’s definitely a great giveaway so stay tuned…

Yea!!!! I am so surprised I won! I can’t wait to frame the print for my bedroom. I’ve been drooling over these prints for a couple of months and just hadn’t gotten around to buying it. (Plus I had already blown through my decorating budget. :) )
Congrats Winners!! I am totally jealous :O) I will probably end up ordering some though, they are super cute!!
My hubby and I just moved into a new rancher and can’t wait to put the print on our bare bedroom wall!!! Thanks YHL you made my week :)
Congratulations winners! And John, your year-long writing experiment is one of the sweetest things I’ve heard in a long time. You are such a cool guy. Letter-writing is actually a popular journaling approach and one I’d like to try. It would also give me a great excuse to buy lots of pretty journals!
I just got the prettiest little journal on clearance from Anthropologie. It’s almost too pretty to use!

Thank you for such a great experience, YHL! And a big thanks to your readers for their wonderful support! I look forward to working with the winners!
Yay! I just did a double take while reading… It took me a minute to realize that I was one of the winners you were talking about. Thank you so much! What should I do collect the prize?
Hey Alliso(n?),
We actually sent you an email with instructions, so if you don’t see it in you inbox it may have ended up in spam. If you don’t see it there just shoot me an email at john@younghouselove.com.
Congrats again!
-John
This is going to sound really pedantic, but “stationary” means standing still. “Stationery” is the word for paper and writing materials. Is there a pun in “Customized Stationary” that I’m missing, or is that just a spelling mistake?
Hey Rod,
If you click over to their Etsy page you can see that the spelling of “stationery” in the copy & categories is correct, and the “A” in the logo is a different font entirely (to draw attention to it) so the altered spelling is definitely intentional. I’m not sure what the story behind it is though. Good question!

Hi Rod,
I have had many people ask that very question! To clarify, “Stationary” is spelled with an “A” not a “E” because I do stationery Amanda’s (my name) way. So, the A in stationary is for my design style, and not the typical stationery you could get anywhere else.
Thanks for letting me know, though!
