Fab Freebie: Color Combo

This week’s giveaway sponsor practically needs no introduction. It’s Valspar Paint (which Meredith successfully figured out last week from our anagram clue). So we foresee a handful of paint projects in some of your futures… and hopefully some before & after pictures as well.
But Valspar isn’t just offering up paint this week, they’ve also created a great online resource for couples faced with the challenge of combining their styles. The “Love, Our Style” site includes some painting tips via a Painting 101 section, a photo contest where you can win a paint makeover, and – our favorite part – a quiz to help figure out how to merge your aesthetic with your partner’s.
And although Sherry and I feel like we’ve figured out our combined style pretty well, we jumped at the chance to see how we fared with the quiz. After 10 simple (and sometimes thought-provoking) multiple choice questions, the quiz revealed that our style is “Relaxed” which came with this description: “You’re in perfect harmony when it comes to your eye for the simple yet functional. When it comes to your home decor, eco-conscious style- like natural textures, tones and sustainable furnishings- can play a big part. Take your love of the outdoors and find inspiration in nature, with warm neutrals.” Pretty dead on, eh? Not to mention that the paint colors they suggested are pretty much right up our alley too.
So here’s the scoop on how you can score some free Valspar paint this week:

Country? Are you kidding me??? I wish the quiz showed you all the other possible answers so you could see the other color options. We could really use some paint in our new-to-us house that is currently that horrible pinkish-beige.
Color me!! We just closed on our first home and it could definitely use a color make-over.

Modern-country. Interesting. I wouldn’t describe my husband as country but more “man-cave”. :-)
COLOR ME relaxed. Not a surprise. We spend a lot of time lounging with not very much clothing on. Two areas are up for repainting — the spare bedroom (currently yellow with an icky 70s light fixture) and the tiny hall in front of the bathroom, currently an icky deep beige that was maybe hip and modern four years ago and now screams to be a deep lavendar or green.

YIKES the quiz told us that we are modern…. that seems so far from the truth… we are currently combining my rental house into his owned home…creating a huge project going from his house to our home…it has great bones a small California cottage and I am so excited to start working on making it ours!!!! I got a “Relaxed” style as well, and I would agree with it, at least for now! But my style changes with my mood, which also changes after a while. I also think it depends on what room of the house we are talking about. For a dining room, I wouldn’t want a relaxed room, but something classy and flashy. Family room, definatelly relaxed.

We got Modern Country, which is such a dead-on description of not only our design aesthetics but our personalities in general (me being the modern city girl, and my husband being the laid-back guy who grew up on a 200 acre farm) that it made us both laugh. Pretty smart little quiz!
Color me! I’ve got one room left to paint in our new house, so that gallon would come in mighty handy…
As for our style, we also came out as relaxed. I think that’s about right for us.

Relaxed. I guessed as to my husband’s answers since he is not available to take the quiz, but I make all the design choices anyway… and he prefers it that way. Whenever I ask him, he always says whatever I think! :)

Our entire home was covered in wallpaper (except for one wood panelled room, not any better)…after a month of peeling, we’re finally in repair/prime mode. I’m itching to get some paint on the walls, and free paint would make it oh so much sweeter!

We got “Modern Exotic” – which I think may be pretty accurate… maybe a little more me than him though ;) We just bought a complete fixer upper, like, the top two floors don’t even have walls yet (just studs, and no insulation, haha) so some new paint would be DELIGHTFUL!
