Fab Freebie: All Time Lowe’s
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
For our big two year blogiversary and we’re celebrating with one of the biggest freebies we’ve ever freebied: a $500 Lowe’s gift card.
Did that sink in yet? It still hasn’t for us. When we started hunting for the perfect blogiversary prize a few weeks ago we never thought we’d land something so exciting. It’s like Lowe’s is giving one of you the chance to take on a big project and they’re footing the bill. And we couldn’t be more thrilled to be giving it away.
We probably don’t need to remind you of all the items you could snag during a $500 shopping blitz at Lowe’s – paint, lighting, power tools, holiday decor, flooring. Heck, you could even get a new dishwasher or something. So in case you’re having any trouble picturing where you’d put five hundred Lowe’s dollars, allow us to lend our expertise (that is, our money-spending assistance). Here are a few items that we’ve got our eyes on:
This Idylis air purifier: Since the cold weather will have us closing up our windows and doors soon, the HEPA filter on this baby keeps indoor air from getting stale and could really help Sherry as we get into allergy season.
A new lawn mower: I know the season’s ending, but I’ve had it up to here (picture my hand above my head) with the used mower we bought when we moved back in 2006 (let’s just say it’s no longer self-propelling). Lowe’s online Mower Selector tool helped turn up a bunch of options that we could snag for well under 500 beans.
A cool bathroom sink: With a full bathroom redo moving closer to the top of our to-do list we’re already starting to fantasize about where we can add some special touches, like plopping a vessel sink on top of a thrifted piece of furniture-turned-vanity. And Lowe’s has a bunch of awesome vessel sink options.
I’ve also been contemplating adding some outdoor path lighting or taking our garage organization a step further with some more sophisticated shelving. But we’d better quit letting our minds wander because we’re not the ones who get the $500 gift card… one of you does! Here’s how:
- PRIZE: A $500 Lowe’s gift card (in case you forgot)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIMME THAT $500″ (why dance around it, right?) and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us what project you might spend the prize on. Surely we’re not the only ones daydreaming about where $500 could go (and no, we won’t be picking a winner based on this answer – it’ll still be random)
- CONTEST CLOSES: Thursday, September 24th at 8pm EST (that’s an extra day!)
- WINNER: One lucky lady or gent
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA (but Lowe’s loving Canadians with friends or family in the states can enter and we’ll send it to your US relative/friend who can forward it on to you).
- THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

GIMME THAT $500
I would use the 500 to update the hideous light fixtures in my bathrooms. They are terrible and so dated. Or maybe put a nice light fixture in the dining room since the one that is there is so basic.
“GIMME THAT $500?We just moved into a new house this past weekend so there are plenty of things that we could use that $500 for…probably one of my first goals will be to paint the kitchen cabinets!
GIMME THAT $500!! With $500 we could paint, add some crown molding, fix our leaky sink and buy some really great tools for our DIY projects – the list is endless!
Gimme the $500!!!!
We would LOVE to get new faucets for our house and new granite counter tops for the kitchen! Here’s hoping we win…….
GIMME THAT $500!!
We just bought our first house and we are so excited to begin making it our own. It has an old school claw tub that we would like to make into a shower.
GIMME THAT $500!!!!!!!!!
Definitely will spend it finishing up my craft room… I still need moldings, upper cabinets, and…. a REAL door to the room (it’s currently a shower curtain).
GIMME THAT $500
Bonus Answer:
One of our friends overnighted at our house on their move from Boston to Florida. Their cat overnighted in our downstairs bathroom and…a CATastrophe ensued…the cat tipped over a potted plan on our windowsill.
Oddly, the potted plant was unscathed…but the pedestal sink beneath said window? B-R-O-K-E-N. In half. I would use the money for a new one. (And maybe some pretty fall plants for the portch.)

Gimme the $500!!!
What don’t we need in our house?? I guess the biggest project is redoing our little, lonley 1/2 bath with hideous homemade mosaic glued to the wall by the last owner.
GIMME THAT $500!!!
I’d probably give it to my parents. (awww…) They recently had a massive leak in their half bath and have to redo the entire thing…once the floors are dry. (It’s been 3 weeks and the guy said it’s only halfway there. Ugh.)
GIMME THAT $500!!!
It would be soooo amazing to win this! i’d put it to good use updating our kitchen. thanks!!
I will be moving into the house that my mother in law is giving us (yes she is leaving us the house :) and it needs some MAJOR updates. Please GIMME THAT $500 !!!
GIMME That $500!
There are so many projects we need to work on, but I can definitely say that we would start out by giving all of the walls a new coat of paint, adding overhead lighting fixtures in the office and main bedroom, and sprucing up the patio!
Gimme that $500!
We would finish one of our many unfinished projects. First one up would be making our kitchen nook seating. Oh how I would love some seating in our kitchen!
Gimmie that 500 !!!!!!
MMMMMM… paint, maybe some crown moulding, maybe $ toward a new washer/dryer since ours is slowly dying…
GIMME THAT $500!! I love that you get right to the point. I think our guest and master bathroom are begging for new floors and new counters/sinks. That’s where the $500 would go and the ugly powder blue (@#$$!) floor tile would be out of my life for good.
Gimme that $500!!!!! Oh, my sad bathroom could really use some love. Love your blog. Happy anniversary! Dana in OK
GIMME THAT $500! I would use it to redecorate my bathroom that has wallpaper from my shabby chic/floral phase of my life. Yikes.
Gimme that $500!!!! Please! We moved into a new house over a year ago and we need some plants. Our yard needs some trees!
Gimme that $500!!!
My husband and I lost our house to a fire in January, after building it and having moved in the previous August… yea, less than 6 months. We are now building back and since we’ve lost a year, we are building our forever house, not a starter home, ie: upgrading. $500 would go a long way!
GIMME THAT $500! (Please?)
We just closed on our first house and need to do a major bathroom overhaul before moving in. Your site has been a god-send to us a new homeowners with a fixer-upper!
Please Gimme that $500!!!
We have had our kitchen update/repair on hold for 19 months now because other things keep popping up (that happens with a home built in 1951 you know!) such as clogged gutters, leaky roof, trees removed which fell on our deck and crushing it, and our moldy bathroom. We had a flood in the kitchen when we first moved in, so our cabinets crumbled (yay 20 year old particle board!) and we have yet to fix them. We also don’t have any upper cabinets. In a 10×7 galley kitchen, $500 would go a long way, and we can finally have cabinets that aren’t lopsided, and a place to store our food!
PLUS I live in Richmond! So we’ll be supporting them locally! ;)
GIMME THAT $500!
I’m buying a gorgeous 1902 bungalow in downtown Provo, UT. We have lot’s of work to do inside, but I particularly would love the giftcard to fix up the beautiful entry way with new tile, new paint and a great light fixture.
GIMME that $500, please!! just moved (newly separated & newly unemployed… fun stuff!) so i would buy an electric sander (i’ve been wanting one forEVER since my arm is about to fall off every time i try to refurbish anything i find), some greenery for outside- the new house has dirt/rocks and that’s it!, some paint to at least take my two year old son’s bedroom from peach to something a little bit more boyish, and then put the rest towards a washer and dryer (yes, i am currently taking my son’s and my clothes to my parents’ house to wash them every Sunday… pathetic!). Happy two years!!! Killer give away!
GIMME THAT $500!!!
We would replace the ugly rosy mauve carpet in our living room and dining room with laminate wood floors to match the kitchen!
OMG. . .I live in an old 1920′s house that SO needs your help!! I’m here in Richmond, so if you ever want to pop over and give us some decorating advice, we’d love to have you!!
If nothing else, I could really put that $500 Lowes GC to good use re-doing some of the painfully ugly areas in my house!
LOOOVE your site!!
GIMMIE THAT $500.00…..My husbands B-day is soon, if chosen I will surprise him with a shopping spree!! thank you!

Gimme that $500!!
I would love to get rid of my pirate/lumberjack kitchen cabinets! They are soooo nasty.
