All Time Lowe’s Freebie Winner!
This is probably the part where you start scrolling down to see if you’re the lucky person (out of 7008 entrants!) who won our $500 prize in this week’s amazing giveaway from Lowe’s. But we can’t blame you for being impatient, because we were too. After dreaming up all of those things we would buy with some Lowe’s loot for our contest post on Monday, we couldn’t get that Idylis air purifer out of our heads. Between Sherry’s bad allergies and our healthy home kick it seemed like it belonged at Casa Petersik. Plus they say the air inside the average American home is four times more polluted than the air outside. So here it is living next to the place where we spend lots of time: the couch (which is also in the same room as Sherry’s desk, where she practically lives).

It’s been pretty cool so far – we leave it on all evening (it’s Energy Star rated, btw) and it adjusts automatically based on the quality of air that it senses in the room. We’ve found it cranks up if we open a blanket (probably flinging dust into the air) and sometimes even when Burger walks near it (pet dander, perhaps?). It has also been the source of several “who farted” jokes. Ah, juvenile humor.
But without further ado… after random.org got over the disbelief of me asking for a number between 1 and 7008 (!?!), it selected our winner of the $500 Lowe’s gift card as: Erin Marie. Congrats Erin! And good luck on your now major house painting project. You know you totally owe us all the pictures, right? Like big time.
Sorry we couldn’t have better news for the rest of you. But we can at least reassure you that the freebie fun will happily continue into year three of YHL, starting with an adorable prize on Monday that you’ll just have to feel to believe (yes, that’s a clue). Wait, does that sound creepy… because I promise it’s not. Really.

Wee burger is adorable – he’s looking at it like “who/what are you” – sounds like a brilliant thing to have and something I wish we had in our flat with 4 cats – pet dander everywhere!!!]
Have a great weekend Sherry and John.
You will love your air purifier. We bought this Honeywell one while putting in new floors after my husband saw all the junk hidden in the old carpet and the nasty linoleum

:( We leave it in the living room and move it to the bedroom once a week. No more floaty dust in the air ever, and I notice way less dust on our dark living room furniture.
I can see wings on my bath tub, it’s flying away….haha
Congrats Erin!
Freebie Fun Monday – cool. Congrats Erin Marie!
Aww man! I got so excited! I saw Erin and thought for sure it was me. Then reality set in…
Congratulations to Erin Marie!
Congratulations, Erin! Please send pics of the project you do with your lovely prize :)
Congratulations Erin. I didn’t even bother submitting my name, haha!
Yahoooooooooo Erin !!
Glad to hear you like the purifier! My fiance and I borrowed one from his mother last year, because our apartment was old and very dusty. We both have really bad allergies, so even though it didn’t totally cure them, it really helps in the winter when you can’t open all the windows and air everything out (unless you like snow IN the house…haha).
Unfortunately, we had to give ours back when we moved into our new apartment, but we’re looking into getting our own air purifier for this winter!
Congratulations Erin Marie, can’t wait to see pictures!
Aww, this was such a great freebie contest, thanks YHL. TGIF!
Wow, that is a huge number of entries, but what a great prize! Congrats Erin…

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! I’m so excited to win! My husband and I are already debating on whether we will paint the house or landscape the front yard, but either way I’ll send pictures when we’re done! Thank you again to John and Sherry, and keep up the great work- I love your blog!
Congrats Erin Marie! You don’t have to be sorry that the rest of us didn’t win. I think it’s so cool that you even do these giveaways, so I’m always happy to find out who the winner is, even if it’s not me (but maybe that’s because I’ve won twice already). I hope the money is put to good use!
Congrats Erin Marie! Good luck with your projects!!!
7008?! Yeah, yall rock. :)
Please keep us posted with what you think o fhte air pruifier over time. We have been thinking of getting one but wonder if it’ll seem great at first and then later we’ll wonder why we spent all the money on it. We’d love to hear your continued opinion.
Congrats Erin Marie from the Hoosier state! Happy painting!
i’d really love the air purifier if it reduces visible dust in the room. i feel like i am constantly dusting our tiny bedroom. both the hubby and i have allergies i think this would help.
sherry – how loud is it? would love to hear a review on it after you’ve had it for awhile.
amanda
Hey Amanda,
Good question! It’s pretty loud when it’s on high but it’s rarely on any setting but low because apparently our air isn’t so bad. When it’s on low you can hardly hear it. So far we loooove it.

Well, that’s it! I quit! Kidding… Congrats Erin! Lucky girl.
Oh, man. It took me a few seconds to realize it wasn’t me. I’m an Erin Marie, too! Congrats Erin!
Erin….what a great win and what a great beginning to a “painting” weekend. Lucky you!!!
Congrats Erin Marie on your big score and to “Young House Love” for the awesome blog…keep up the good work.
Ohh man… my heart stopped when I saw “Erin Marie” and I thought, How did they find out my middle name, that’s awesome!! Then I realized it wasn’t me. Congrats to the “real” Erin Marie!
Congrats Erin! Good luck with painting and other projects!
I’m so glad you guys posted this air purifier! Thanks so much! I have horrible allergies (for which I am currently taking shots for) and we bought a Honeywell (HFD-120-Q) and it works wonderfully, quiet, easy to clean, affordable-ish (amazon sells it for $138) – BUT it only came in one color, black, which I hate. This looks much more polished and it’s Energy Star rated?! Adding to my wishlist!
After 6 months of ownership, how would you rate your air purifier? Hubby is having major sinus surgery tomorrow, and I am trying to find ways to make the air in our home cleaner. Any cons performance-wise?
We’re still loving it and definitely use it a lot now that it’s allergy season for me. It certainly can detect when the air isn’t clean (after construction dust or opening windows in allergy season) and it does a great job of filtering everything. The only thing it doesn’t really do is cut down on dust in the air (I still dust and vacuum just as much) but I’m sure it traps smaller particles like allergens so the air is cleaner, even if I still have to dust. I guess I can’t expect it to do it all!
