This is really cool…I agree with above comments, GREAT idea. I need to do this, Josh and I have known each other since high school! We’ve now been married for over 5 years and expecting our own little “bean” lol. But we call ours “peanut” :)
It’s funny, I think we have a lot in common, we love chihuahuas (we have 3 of them), and we enjoy DIYing…thanks for your posts!

Great story! Sounds familiar as my husband and I met in NYC working for a marketing software company. Then moved to Richmond (where I’m from) a year later. We recently eloped in Maui but will definitely take advantage of your DIY wedding decoration ideas for a party we are throwing for friends and family :)

I love your blog. Little bit late with this comment seeing as how the last one was in 2009. There is nothing wrong with your timeline. My husband and I started dating in August, got engaged in September and Married that January. We had our first child 1&1/2 years later. Funny thing though, we went on 4 dates 2 years previously and didn’t like each other at all.

I stumbled across this blog a few weeks ago when I was searching for creative ideas for remodeling. My husband I just finished our exhausting house hunt and closed on a rather cute 3-bedroom split foyer (complete with original 1958 kitchen, bath and paneling).

I actually met my husband twice and didn’t know it until we’d been dating for a couple months. I worked at a gift store in the mall and he had come in as a customer. Later, he found me on a dating website, thought I was cute and emailed me. After corresponding via email for a bit we moved to phone where I thwarted all of his advances for a week or two before finally agreeing to a dinner date (this was the first week of April, 2007). I moved in about 6 minutes later and we were engaged by mother’s day that year.

Exactly one year after our first date on April 5, 2008 we were married. Two months later he received a job offer in Maryland and we started packing.

Reading your speedy relationship timeline hit a note with me because people are always shocked when we tell them that we were pretty much engaged the entire time we were dating. But as we always say, when you know you know. You know?

I love your website and your story! My husband and I share your anniversary (7-7)…but we married in 1985 and just celebrated 25 years of marriage. I have a 21 year old daughter, though, and I hope that she finds someone as perfect for her as you two seem to be for each other. As for me, I met my husband in the parking lot of a gas station in Ft. Deposit, AL while I was home with a friend from college who said “you won’t expect anything to happen since you’re from a small town…” Yeah, except meet my husband. I was in Georgia and he was in Alabama. I ended up moving to another college an hour away from him and we married right after I graduated.

Haha, thats so much fun! My hubby and I actually dated about 6 1/2 years before getting married… I know…
We met at church in early highschool and then started dating the summer before our senior year. So yes, we went to prom together for both schools (we went to different schools), and I went to his homecoming.
For undergrad, I stayed local in Ft. Lauderdale, he semi-local to West Palm Beach. Even though it was about 45mins-1hour away, I didn’t see him much. He was in honors, cross-country, ran a soup-kitchen, worked at the library, and his major had a lot of work – including learning old time hebrew and greek! So, we would take the train to see each other or he would be down for holidays or hurricane days. (He also made frequent trips to Bolivia with a team working w/ a boy’s orphanage. The longest he was down there w/o much of a phone was 3 months. That was a long summer! :)

Finally, he graduated 2008! He moved to KY and went to school for his Masters for the 1st semester, came back home and we were married Dec. 20, 2008. I followed him back to KY, and now we are in Texas (school is a better fit for us here).

:) It’s been 2 years married, about 7 dating, and I figured for our 5th year being married, it would be our 10th year dating! I told him to plan something good :D

Ours is like yours:
1) June 1999 meet at work – start dating
2) May 2000 – move in together
3) Sept 2001 – buy first house
4) Oct 2003 – buy second home (HUGE PROJECT)
5) March 2010 – sell home and move to ABQ

11 years, four homes, two dogs, two cats and a wealth of memories… we are so lucky to be happy and love each other more than in 1999 at work!

Jan 2005 – Shea and I met while doing an internship at Disneyworld. We didn’t like each other.
Feb 2005 – Several lunches together make us start hanging out and we become friends.
March 2005 – We start officially dating.
May 2005 – We get unofficially engaged. Meaning, he and I decided this was the real thing.
Aug – Nov 2005 – I go back to Mexico to finish college and Shea goes back to Atlanta to finish college too.
Dec 2005 – I graduate college in Mexico. Shea comes to see me and meet my family. He officially proposes!
Jan – Mar 2006 – We start planning our wedding (long distance – I was in Mexico and he was in Atlanta) for January 2007.
April 2006 – I visited Shea and his family in Atlanta. We decided that the long distance is too hard and therefore we want to get married sooner, July 2006.
May 2006 – July 2006 – We go crazy planning our wedding!
July 30th, 2006 – Shea and I get married. I moved to the US, leaving all my family behind!

Four years later, we are so happy to welcome our first daughter, Ana Sofi. Life is good.
