I'm from England too, and B&Q is seriously one of my favourite places in the world. That stuff sticks to everything. Ours were faded green and now they are a rich black. Here's the before and after from my blog: http://delightfuldwelling.wordpress.com/2009/06/16/mission-accomplished/ It took 3 cans of paint to do 4 shutters. I used the universal Rustoleum.
