Fab Freebie: The Grass Is Always Greener
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
We first encountered this week’s giveaway sponsor a few weeks back when browsing Richmond’s Shops at 5807, which is collection of different local boutiques under one roof. MonkeyGrass caught our eye immediately thanks to their fun, colorful and stylish decor, candles, kids’ stuff, etc. And that was before we even realized that all of their merch was green! Even better, eh?
So we’re psyched that MonkeyGrass is generously offering up some of their personality-filled party goods to one fortunate reader. Just check out the eco-friendly party pack they’ve put together for us:

What you’re seeing there in the foreground are a foursome of Pop Tumblers, made from recycled soda bottles. I (as a self-proclaimed soda junkie) have been eyeing these for a while so I’m majorly envious of this week’s winner. But what is that they’re sitting on you ask? Well…

…it’s a Puzzle Piece Serving Board that’s made from sustainable wood. It can be kept together to serve a couple of friends who’ve stopped by for dinner, or be split apart to dish out for a variety of offerings on every surface you have available.
But wait there’s more. You may have spotted that festive fabric banner off in the distance of the first photo…

It’s actually a colorful Cotton Flag Banner which is truly a genius invention since it’s a reusable replacement for streamers, poster board & balloon decorations that are a lot more wasteful than a reusable one-size-fits-all party-in-a-pinnie. It’s perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, Mother’s Day, a bachelor party… well, scratch that last one. Even so, we’re sure our winner will find plenty of uses to break out this festive string o’ flags and spare the local landfill a garbage bag full of disposable one-time-use stuff. We loved it so much that when MonkeyGrass generously offered up an extra banner for us that we couldn’t resist! Anyway here’s how to enter to snag the whole party pack:

We’re fond of having contest parties — for example, the best macaroni and cheese. Each guest (or household) brings a dish and votes on their favorite, with prizes awarded at the end of the evening. The best part is that for months afterward folks who met there will often say, “You mean John who won second place?” It’s great. Party on!
Party on!! I love hosting! I always try to do as much food prep the night before. My other trick, if serving a full meal is to prepare everything before the guests arrive. For a cookout I will prepare the burgers so all my hubby has to do is pull the meat our of the fridge and put it on the grill. I put all the condiments into serving bowls, cover it and put it in the fridge so I can just put it on the table when everything is ready.
I did this post a while back with some easy DIY craft projects that are cute party ideas. Enjoy! http://whenagirlsgottagab.blogspot.com/2009/06/fabulous-find-friday-and-very-happy.html

Party on! One of my favorite games to play at parties is spoons. Everyone from 8 to 80 loves it. I’ve collected a set of mismatched silver spoons for this game and its always a lot of laughs. I try to have much of the food prepared in advance and I set the table the day before so I don’t stress out about getting everything done at the last minute.
PARTY ON!!
I just try to relax and enjoy the company and not stress too much. :)
PARTY ON!!!!
Party On! Make up pitchers of Blackberry-Rosemary Margaritas and Vodka with Lemonade and Mint and let guests serve themselves!
Party On! I like to try to make as much food ahead of time as possible – then I can visit when my guests arrive!

i don’t like to host much, i’d rather be hosted! a game that is fun and can go on as long as you want (i’m always one of the last ones playing) is a game called “i’m going to the moon” one person says they’re going to the moon and they’re bringing X object, thinking in their mind one property of that object or word that the others must figure out by trial and error. like i’ll say i’m bringing a kite knowing that what i want others to say is an object that starts with the same letter as their own name (my name is kelly). other people take turns saying what they’ll take, and you just say yes they can come if their object matches the criteria or no they can’t come if it doesn’t. most people get a yes even without knowing why, and eventually someone will catch on and start bringing objects that always allow them to go. you keep going until everyone gets it or gives up. then the next person gets to make up a rule. it could by a.ny.thing.guh. like words that end in -er, objects that cool you down or heat you up, italian things, what have you. anyhoo, long answer. fun game. party on.
PARTY ON! You guys are so popular the comment number doesn’t even fit in the talking balloon! :)
My favorite hosting tip is to always keep some frozen goodies in the freezer (baby quiche, baby cheesecake, a homemade soup or casserole) for unexpected visitors or guest – especially around the holidays. PARTY ON!!!!!

#1 Party tip: Just about any entree can be made into an appetizer. My favorite is to grill a steak or two (up to $30), cut it up into bite-sized pieces, put toothpicks in, and serve it on a tray. Serving a meal is expensive–but making “entree-apps” is pretty thrifty!
PARTY ON! Games that tend to be huge hits in my circle of friends are Taboo (who doesn’t love using the buzzer?) and a game called Celebrity. Celebrity doesn’t require anything other than strips of paper and a pencil. It’s a cherades-based game that you play in two teams. Very fun!
Ha ha – totally posted this on the wrong place at first!
Party On!!
You can’t beat a summer party with lawn games … always a hit!
I get my ‘party on’ by waiting until the last couple of days before the special day to put it all together! I find when I’m underpressure I don’t waste time and I come across the BEST decorations! The only thing I do in advance is come up with the theme-everything else just falls into place!
“PARTY ON!”
My favorite tip to pass along is setting the table the night before a dinner party. It is a huge time saver leaving the day of a lot more relaxed since one of the bigger jobs is done! :)
Awesome giveaway!

Party on! I like when the host or hostess gives me a task i can do to help out–light candles, cut veggies, mix drinks.
Party On!! I love the puzzle serving board!

When we host any kind of get together, I have to plan, organize, and do things ahead of time, nothing like waiting until the last minute and not being able to enjoy the party while you run around like a chicken with your head cut off! ;)
Party On! Love your blog, your house, your wedding and all the DIY ideas you share. I’ve lost track of all the weddings I’ve been to, but one recently I’ve been to that stuck in my mind was in Amelia Island. Mason Jars were used for everything. They were hung on metal stakes stuck in the sand to hold flowers, used as candle holders at the reception and even the drink glasses. It was a simple but cute idea.
