Fab Freebie: The Grass Is Always Greener
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
We first encountered this week’s giveaway sponsor a few weeks back when browsing Richmond’s Shops at 5807, which is collection of different local boutiques under one roof. MonkeyGrass caught our eye immediately thanks to their fun, colorful and stylish decor, candles, kids’ stuff, etc. And that was before we even realized that all of their merch was green! Even better, eh?
So we’re psyched that MonkeyGrass is generously offering up some of their personality-filled party goods to one fortunate reader. Just check out the eco-friendly party pack they’ve put together for us:

What you’re seeing there in the foreground are a foursome of Pop Tumblers, made from recycled soda bottles. I (as a self-proclaimed soda junkie) have been eyeing these for a while so I’m majorly envious of this week’s winner. But what is that they’re sitting on you ask? Well…

…it’s a Puzzle Piece Serving Board that’s made from sustainable wood. It can be kept together to serve a couple of friends who’ve stopped by for dinner, or be split apart to dish out for a variety of offerings on every surface you have available.
But wait there’s more. You may have spotted that festive fabric banner off in the distance of the first photo…

It’s actually a colorful Cotton Flag Banner which is truly a genius invention since it’s a reusable replacement for streamers, poster board & balloon decorations that are a lot more wasteful than a reusable one-size-fits-all party-in-a-pinnie. It’s perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, Mother’s Day, a bachelor party… well, scratch that last one. Even so, we’re sure our winner will find plenty of uses to break out this festive string o’ flags and spare the local landfill a garbage bag full of disposable one-time-use stuff. We loved it so much that when MonkeyGrass generously offered up an extra banner for us that we couldn’t resist! Anyway here’s how to enter to snag the whole party pack:

PARTY ON!!
PARTY ON… with a game of celebrity!
Party On!!!
My hubby and I like to pull out the Catch Phrase game whenever we have people over…it usually gets loud, and really really funny!!
PARTY ON!!!
PARTY ON – make way too much food.
Party On!! The best kind of party is where there’s a nice accessible bar set up with diy drinks on little recipe cards. Nothing like flirting with a cutie while trying to figure out a drink!
Party On!
The Comcast TV 90s music channel has the perfect tunes. People love the trip down memory lane it brings with it.
PARTY ON!
I got a recipe from the Food Network for their Italian Chicken and Pastina Bake from Giada’s show. It’s insanely easy to make, you can put it together ahead of time and heat up when ready, and I especially love it because it can be made vegetarian-friendly by leaving out the chicken! I love making it for my own parties AND taking it as a potluck dish when I travel to others’ parties.
PARTY ON!
My favorite party trick is to have a theme to get people in the mood. A few of my coworkers and myself host a get-together every month with a theme, so far we have had a debutante party on derby day where everyone wore white, a redneck party where our “redneck” friend served food her husband hunted and we all dressed like Gretchen Wilson, and a luau where we all wore maxi dresses and leis!
Party on!
Try to have many areas to mingle and talk so that things flow naturally!
PARTY ON!
When we entertain, we like to keep busy, with games, activities, or a sports program on TV. So, for one of our X-mas parties we held a Wii bowling tournament, complete with brackets and betting! It was really entertaining to see our friends’ virtual bowling styles and to see who dominated the game! It kept everyone busy for hours!
Party On… my husband always dj’s for our parties… he is great at picking the perfect mixes! Music is key!
PARTY ON!!!
Party On!!
I love to always have a variety of desserts! They are my favorite thing to make and its always fun to have a choice, or bits of all of them!
Party on!
Just have fun and don’t worry about planning too much – everyone will have fun if you’re enjoying it as well and not stressed out.
Party ON!
I try to be organized, make lists beforehand, and keep it simple, so I can enjoy the party too!
Party on! Putting on my favorite music while getting ready for a party helps me relax before the guests arrive!
PARTY ON! I love doing potluck parties! We’ll do something like cheeseburgers, and everyone else brings the other dishes. Super fun and not a lot of work!
Party On!
PARTY ON, Youngsters!!!! My favorite party planning tip is to play a get-to-know you game called The Story of My Shoes It’s exactly what it sounds like. Each person tells a quick little story about the shoes they’re wearing at the party. For example, got them for a $1 on clearance, wore them to a Dave Matthews concert, got them as a gift from my a pen-pal! It’s a great way to break the ice get guests chattin’ up a storm!
PARTY ON
My favorit party food is stuff that can be made ahead. I have a great recipe for mini crab cakes that can be made ahead, frozen, and popped in the oven at the last minute.
Party On! No big party tip, but you can never go wrong with a Fuzzy Navel!
Party On!
PARTY ON!
I don’t throw many parties since I live in a small apartment, but I like to host small events just so it gives me the motivation to do a MAJOR clean.
Also, you can never go wrong whipping out the game Apples to Apples.
Party on!! I like to put out Table Topics when it’s a mixed group.
Party On!
I make sure to have the preferred beverage/mixers for each person attending to the best of my ability. I think it shows that I pay attention to the little details and that I care about each person attending.
PARTY ON
My best party trick is to come up with a menu that will require the least amount of time in the kitchen on the day of the party. Do as much beforehand so you can party on too!
party on! i love checking out hostess with the mostess website for creative themes! karaoke always does the trick too!
Party on!
Party on!
I think the best parties let you embrace your cheesy side! I went to a tacky sweater party during Christmas last year, and it was hilarious seeing all the applique sweaters and Rudolph ears. Instant conversation pieces!
Party on!
Make sure you have abundant ice.
PaRtY On!! with some white wine sangria! Yum!
Party on! I like to have a simple theme and go from there.
PARTY ON!!!
In the cooler months of the year, I like to make the house smell yummy for guests by simmering a small pot of water with orange peels, whole cloves & a cinnamon stick or two. It’s much cheaper than a pricey candle. Just be sure to check the water level every now & then.
Party on!!
Party on!!!!
PARTY ON!
My tip….don’t be afraid to use your good stuff! I love serving ice cream sundaes in my grandmother’s water goblets and putting hot dogs on china plates. China. crystal and silver love to be used and are very sad when they stay packed away.
party on, excellent. (My Bill and Ted spin-off.)
My tip: With summer here we always seem to have last minute BBQs at our house (a reason I would so love this prize). I have an old Mike’s Lemonade 4-pack carrier saved in my pantry. I keep it filled with plastic silverware and on top of a stack of paper plates. That way I’m always prepared and clean-up is a cinch.
Party On!!
Party On!! I need some party tips b/c we are hosting a baby shower for our neighbor in August…those flags sure would help us decorate!
PARTY ON!
We love to start the firepit. People seem to gravitate toward it.
PARTY ON!! As long as there is hot spinach artichoke dip in a hollowed out round rye, peeps are happy!!
Party On!!
My best party tip is to try to do most of the prep-work ahead of time. Even setting the table the night before takes a whackload of pressure off.
Those drink glasses are WONDERFUL!!

Party on!!
PARTY ON!
If you cut up food into smaller bite-size portions (like small pieces of steak rather than a whole ribeye for each person), your food will go a lot farther.
PARTY ON!
Decorate with lighting…candles, christmas lights, whatever you have around!
PARTY ON!
This is a great give away. My favorite party planning trick is just lots and lots of flowers and lots of wine!
Party ON!
My party planning tip- prep your food like you’re going to host a cooking show. For example, the day before measure out all of your spices, rinse, wash, chop anything that can be done the a day before. Bonus if anything can be prepped completely the day before.
This makes all the difference for me because I always seem to run into something that will cause a delay and determine that I’m missing a key ingredient. Also, running through most of the prep makes me feel much calmer the day of the party. And to agree with a few of the people above- if it doesn’t turn out okay, that’s fine. The people make the party.
