Fab Freebie: The Grass Is Always Greener
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
We first encountered this week’s giveaway sponsor a few weeks back when browsing Richmond’s Shops at 5807, which is collection of different local boutiques under one roof. MonkeyGrass caught our eye immediately thanks to their fun, colorful and stylish decor, candles, kids’ stuff, etc. And that was before we even realized that all of their merch was green! Even better, eh?
So we’re psyched that MonkeyGrass is generously offering up some of their personality-filled party goods to one fortunate reader. Just check out the eco-friendly party pack they’ve put together for us:

What you’re seeing there in the foreground are a foursome of Pop Tumblers, made from recycled soda bottles. I (as a self-proclaimed soda junkie) have been eyeing these for a while so I’m majorly envious of this week’s winner. But what is that they’re sitting on you ask? Well…

…it’s a Puzzle Piece Serving Board that’s made from sustainable wood. It can be kept together to serve a couple of friends who’ve stopped by for dinner, or be split apart to dish out for a variety of offerings on every surface you have available.
But wait there’s more. You may have spotted that festive fabric banner off in the distance of the first photo…

It’s actually a colorful Cotton Flag Banner which is truly a genius invention since it’s a reusable replacement for streamers, poster board & balloon decorations that are a lot more wasteful than a reusable one-size-fits-all party-in-a-pinnie. It’s perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, Mother’s Day, a bachelor party… well, scratch that last one. Even so, we’re sure our winner will find plenty of uses to break out this festive string o’ flags and spare the local landfill a garbage bag full of disposable one-time-use stuff. We loved it so much that when MonkeyGrass generously offered up an extra banner for us that we couldn’t resist! Anyway here’s how to enter to snag the whole party pack:
- PRIZE: One green party pack from MonkeyGrass including Pop Tumblers, a Puzzle Serving Board and a Cotton Flag Banner (total value of $114)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PARTY ON” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us one of your favorite party planning tips. Do you have a special host/hostess trick? Or a party game that always seems to be a hit? Or maybe even some brilliant idea you especially enjoyed as a guest somewhere else?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 29th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One, Uno, Un… and thus exhausts my foreign language skills

Party on!!!! I love letting the guests help out with making things…once they arrive, kindof like a ice breaker and they feel more comfy around our house!
“Party On”
Within my circle of girlfriends, as long as there is fruit salsa and a bottle of wine, the good convo never ends! <3
Party on!! A party theme appropriate play list is a must! You gotta have tunes……
And, OMG I am post number one!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Party On! The best advice I can give is, Relax! You can plan till your brains fall out but as the host, if you don’t relax and enjoy the party, no one else will.
PARTY ON!!! I love love love the puzzle board! My husband and I just moved to Orlando, FL and will be having a house warming party with all of his new co-workers. The party pack would work great!
PARTY ON…
My tip? Always have a theme!! Love themes!! :)
I know I am gonna win this one, I can feel it!! :D :D
Party on!!!!!
Party on!
I don’t have any especially clever hostessing tips, but our cocktail mixing party to come up with our signature wedding drink was especially memorable. I’d love to host a green party with these delightful treats!
PARTY ON
I set up ‘stations’ throughout the room(s) we’re entertaining with to allow people room to mingle and give them a reason to walk around and meet new people. For example, I recently threw a baby shower where I set up a few groupings of 2-3 chairs in different corners with a tea table and a dish that could only be found in that corner (cupcakes or a dip, something along those lines.) It got people moving and worked great!
PARTY ON ~ Keep the food simple so everyone (including the host) can enjoy the party
PARTY ON!
This is the first time I’ve entered a giveaway, but the puzzle serving board looks awesome!
As for a party tip, we threw a Jack and Jill wedding shower last month and I put out clearly labeled bins for trash and recyclables. It was handy for the guest to know where things went and made clean up a breeze!
PARTY ON!! Our go-to party snack is homemade guacamole (with a splash of tequila if we’re feeling saucy).
Party on! Having a signature cocktail for the party keeps the bar list simple and seems more personal.
PARTY ON!
At our yearly Thanksgiving and New Years parties, we ALWAYS play “Polish Ping-Pong” which gets everyone involved and is guaranteed fun. Pick me as a winner and I’ll tell you the rules, cause I’m thinking you’re dying to know :)
Party On!!

I love, love, love to plan and make one special cocktail to serve to guests at the beginning of the night, then leave the rest of the evening as a help yourself affair with a well-stocked bar, plenty of choice and a big bowl of beautiful citrus for juicing. I leave a few note cards of drink recipes for those wanting to be adventurous and I get to mingle. Guests feel pampered when they first arrive, and I get to enjoy the night as well!
PARTY ON!
All good parties have vino, right? I have wine charms that ask guests questions and get people chatting…one dream, best joke, best vacation, best feature, favorite food…
PARTY ON!
About a month or so ago, I saw a posting on Apartment Therapy about having a dinner party on the public sidewalk (great for us renters who aren’t lucky enough to have a balcony/patio). Since then, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this idea! That puzzle piece serving board would be oh so cute on my upcoming dinner party on the street! Please oh please random.org, pick me!
PARTY ON!
I love the party game “Make n’ Break”. It’s a kids’ game, actually, but I’ve never met an adult who doesn’t get super competitive trying to build the individual towers in the prescribed amount of time.
Just don’t bust it out at a party with someone who had a stroke and can’t use one of her arms, like we did. Boy was that awkward…..
PARTY ON!
My tip is to start planning the second you know the date of your party!
Party on…and don’t stress :)
PARTY ON!
One of my best party ideas was a cookie decorating theme… all I had to do was bake plain cookies, guests brought favorite toppings, and it was a whole afternoon of fun! People decorated cookies for hours, and we printed “blue ribbons” that were awarded to winners for “most festive,” “best use of color,” etc. So simple and so much fun!
PARTY ON
Potluck it…., we don’t do many other types….no one seems to mind because people would rather go to a potluck party than no party at all…everyone loves potlucks!
“PARTY ON” — Fictionary is always a great game when convo runs dry
PARTY ON!
Ditto Tina – keep the food and beverages simple so everyone, host included, can enjoy the party.
Party On! The best advise I can give..don’t be the host that is stuck in the kitchen all night. You won’t have fun at your party and you won’t hear all your friends tell you how great your party is!
PARTY ON!
I sure hope I win one of these soon!!!
I keep the food simple and prepare a lot ahead of time so i can enjoy the party!!
Party On! I like to prepare as many things as I can ahead so I can enjoy the fun as well! And I never turn down an offer to help clean up – what could be more fun than drinking wine, nibbling on leftovers and catching up with a friend all while getting my clean on?!
Party On! I just love the puzzle board. We always have cheese and crackers out for our guests. this is perfect.
PARTY ON!
My tip is to have a signature cocktail and then beer. You’ll save a lot of money that way.
PARTY ON.
When people offer to bring stuff, take them up on it! Then there’s plenty of variety and you don’t have to worry about providing everything.
PARTY ON
i serve a signature cocktail for the evening.
Party on!
We keep everything very relaxed and have lots of snacks and food.
Party On! Have everyone bring a food item. That way you know there will be something everyone likes & conversations will start over the various dishes.
PARTY ON! My homemade Sangria is always the hit of any party :)
What a lovely giveaway!
PARTY ON!
To be honest my domestic ability is evolving every day, and one day party planning will be a cinch. Until then food is burnt, ice is melted, but time with my family is priceless!
Party On!
Tunes are a must at any get together. My husband is the best ipod dj.
Party On!
PARTY ON!
My biggie is don’t sweat the small stuff. Parties are no fun when the host is freakin’ out.
PARTY ON!
Believe it or not, name tags can be VERY helpful, especially at reunion or networking type parties where not everyone necessarily knows anyone else besides the host.
Party on!
Good food, lots of wine, and Table Topics!
Party on! This is amazing… my favorite party tips are to have healthy yet tasty food. I don’t want people leaving my party with a stomach ache. Even if they don’t realize the food is healthy and stuff themselves, I want them to leave feeling as good as when they came. : )
Party On!
I always like to have one glass of wine or beer before everyone arrives so I’m relaxed and pleasant once the party is underway. Hosting is always stressful. Thanks for the great give-a-ways.
PARTY ON- love, love the giveaway!!!! I always like to have a little take away gift for my guests sitting by the front door when they leave.
Party on!
Party on!
I like to be unique…to show some effort in my parties. Things don’t have to be grand or expensive….just memorable. Real Simple mag recently published some fun summer-y party drinks that could be served w/ or w/o alcohol….I’m considering them for my next party.
Party On!
My husband loves cheese, (who doesn’t?) he’ll totally get a kick out of this cheeseboard!
“PARTY ON”
My tip is to prepare as much as you can (including food) the night before. Don’t be like me who is usually still cooking or jumping into the shower as guests arrive!
Party on!!!
