I don't have granite counters, but I have used this idea anyway, just because I like everything to look like it has its place instead of just being out on the counter. I also am using a tray like that for the fresh veggies coming from my garden!

I love the little dish. We had the same issue and used a leftover tile that matched the splashback in our kitchen - it worked wonders and was really easy to keep clean.

I use a dish for my pepper mill and salt shaker as well — Kirsten! It really does make a huge difference for cleanup.

I also bought a few plain saucers from pier 1 to use for my earring collection in our bedroom. They fit perfectly in the shallow drawer at the top of my dresser.

My boyfriend's dad likes to make pottery, so we use one of his bowls that I glazed by our front door to put our keys in as we come in. Definitely makes coming and going easier, since we always know where they are now! I like having a piece in our place that was made with love by family. Such a simple thing that makes so much of a difference!

I have a sweet little vintage flower hook that hangs by my side of the bed. Every night I slip my glasses on the hook and they're right there for morning.
With terrible eyesight and a cat that likes to knock things off the night stand, having a home for my glasses is a must. This one simple trick of re-purposing an item I had in my home for years has saved me a hundred headaches. Love this series - keep them coming!

This is a wonderful idea that looks great too! For those who may not have a cool white dish like this already, Target makes a great line of white dishes and serving pieces in square and round that are extremely well priced. Everything looks great on them!

I keep my steel wool pad at the sink in a cute soy sauce dish that came with our sushi set (we rarely make sushi at home since we live by so many great take-out places). Also - definitely already doing the dish trick without salt and pepper grinders. :-)

Just like most people here, I hate finding pepper grinds on my counter. I've been using a stainless guest towel holder (from the bath section) as a tray for the oil, salt and pepper next to the stove. I love how it keeps everything contained and looks deliberate rather than looking like I can't put anything away.

Looking forward to more Easy Upgrades!

No easy upgrades to add right now but i'm excited to hear more of them. It's funny how something so simple as keeping oils clean and handy on a nice plate could give me an ahh, that's a great idea moment. thanks for sharing!
