Hi Michelle,

So glad you're interested in a mood board. You can purchase one starting at the Design Advice tab at the top of this page, or by clicking this link. We're taking only a few projects a week so that we can do justice to each person and we're unfortunately backed up at the moment. Check back each Monday morning to see if we have any space each week. Right now we're expecting to have some slots available right after the Fourth of July. Thanks!

You guys really have vision; it's amazing the way you can take a space like Suzie's and transform it into something so eye-pleasing, on a manageable budget - keep up the great work!

Hey Stephanie,

Good question! The reason we opted not to suggest a rug for the dining area in this case was because we found that amazing patterned rug for the living area and we didn't want to fragment the open floor plan too much with too many squares on the floor in such a close proximity. For example, in our very own living and dining room, we have a rug to define the living area but intentionally don't have a rug under the nearby dining table since the presence of a rug in one area and the absence of a rug in the other area actually makes them feel more differentiated and less fragmented. Does that make sense?

Plus since we're bringing in some pattern in the living room rug and even with small textured door mats (one of which will be very close to the dining table by the door behind it), we didn't want things to get too busy or compete with each other so we opted to use the rug to define the living area and cozy things up in there while leaving the dining room a bit less adorned on the floor (although a nice table runner and centerpiece will help to define that space, add a dash of color and even ground the table in a different way). Hope it helps!

xo,

First, I'm so impressed by your skill at finding simple and affordable ways to transform mediocre spaces into beautiful ones. This is one of my favorite mood boards yet. Love the colors, versatility, and layers of textures and patterns. But I'm left with one question: what about a rug for the dining room area? It seems like a rug there, even if it was a tone-on-tone natural fiber rug, would define and ground that space better, especially considering the high ceiling. Would love to hear your and others thoughts.

Love it! I am excited to see that Susie's furniture looks almost exactly like my loveseats (Kristen, not sure if this helps, but mine are Broyhill- can't remember the style but I got to pick the fabric from a huge selection when I bought them at our local furniture store). I bought a very similar round mirror that I haven't known what to do with- and my husband and I love orange. I just may have to steal these ideas for my own re-do!!
