Fab Freebie: Straight From The Art
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***
This week’s giveaway comes from a site that so chock full o’ good stuff that it was a challenge to hone in on the perfect freebie items for this week. We’re talking about Artful Home, a virtual window into over a thousand artists’ studios that gives you access to 12,000+ original art pieces – from wall art and sculpture to furniture and accessories. It’s kinda like Etsy, but contributing artists are all professionals who are selected by a panel of art adjudicators.
So we sifted through the site and fell in love with several pillows and, since we couldn’t settle on just one, we’re letting this week’s lucky winner choose from the four pillows shown below: the nature-inspired linen pillows by Mariah Wren or the graphic, eye-chart pillow by Heather Lins. I know, tough decision, eh?
- PRIZE: Your choice of one of the four pillows shown above (valued at $90 – $95).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the phrase “I HEART ART” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us your favorite piece of art currently in your home, whether it’s a piece of fine art made by a professional or fun art made by a preschooler.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One and only one this week.
- ELIGIBILITY: The prize ships to anywhere in the US and Canada.
- THE USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We have very little art on our walls (something we seriously need to remedy!) but I have two favorite pieces:
1) A Maxfield Parrish print of Daybreak that is in our bedroom. My parents had a print in the house growing up and I just loved it as a kid, so for my birthday last year my mom found me a framed print on Ebay.
2) A pencil drawing of our dog Bullitt. We won a custom-framed portrait through an auction for Boston Terrier rescue last year. The artist who drew it is so amazing, it captured his goofy personality completely. Never thought I’d be one of those people who hung a picture of their dog on the wall – but if I recall I am in good company. ;)
I HEART ART!
My favorite piece is my 5-year old niece’s card/picture given to my husband for his birthday…obviously worked on quite a lot with colored tape and bright colors.

I’m sick of all my artwork. I need a full makeover! (Well, except the autographed Broadway posters. I still love them even though they’re really queer.)
I heart art!
My favorite piece is by my daughter Caroline. She drew and painted it this year in kindergarten and brought it home at the end of the school year. When I saw it, of course, I told her it was very good and asked her what it was a picture of. She said it was a picture of Monet’s Water lilies. Did I mention that she is 6 years old?
I heart art!
My favorite is a piece that I got from my grandparents. My grandfather recently passed away and looking at that piece everyday makes it even more special to me.
